Did Holla last night successfully and beat boss on 2nd try. We went as full alliance of 3 partys and successfully made it to the top.

Its important that everyone stick together and also choose 1 person who will be leader. We used a Ranger who would widescan for the memorys and also pull mobs if neccessary. Its better to take your time and clear the area in front of you rather then trying to sneak a whole alliance through. The mobs definately aggro but wont link. Use all of your ranged people to beat the memorys and melee to take on the spanwns it pops out. After memory is killed the gate stays open for 3 minutes. In the room just before the big BCNM battle you are not level capped so use the time to heal.

Holla boss "Wreaker" was tough but we beat it the 2nd try. First try was going well but we werent expecting the big HP drain and it killed the Paladin tank (Me) before anyone could use their 2 hours. The Wreaker killed everyone who was unable to zone out of the battle.

::Important:: If you get killed all is not lost. Like a typical BCNM battle this one is on a 30 minute time limit. At the end of 30 minutes you are respawned into the room to die a 2nd hilarious death thats a must see. So dont Homeport!! Make sure people in the allaince with raise 1 or 2 wait so they can raise you for another go. EXP loss is still at level 30 levels which means you hardly lose anything if you can get a raise 2. If everyone had used their 2 hours we could have presumably waited here for 2 hours before re entering the BCNM for another go.

After being raised we decided to go a 2nd run as most still had their 2 hours. The party tank was me Pal/War Whm/Blm Rng/Nin Blm/Whm Blm/Whm Rdm/Whm. We didnt expect to make a win as we were short drinks and didnt have the "all important" ninja tank or summoner.

Entered BCNM and buffed up. Used only protect and shell 1s and cast tons of useless bar spells that the Wreaker could take. Wreaker does not take food statuses or Job statuses like Sentinal Defender etc.

Once everyone ready I charged in with a battle cry and began tanking Wreaker like a normal mob. Was very easy to do at first as he didnt hat very fast or hard. Was easy to build up large amount of hate quickly. When wreaker is about 1/3rd down he starts hitting harder and faster. Became very difficult to self heal so I popped yagudo drink to build my mp up and used voke/shield bash/ sentinal to keep hate. ALL mages started healing me with baby heals so I could keep hate and I would toss a heal in for extra hate if I was able to avoid being interuppted. Mob would occassionally pause for a time allowing me to heal and we discovered Paralyse stick to him fairly well so use it. Mob stayed stuck to me like glue in spite of having a difficult time self healing at times.

When mob was about 55% down it starts nasty AOE attacks. Everyone used 2 hours here with me opening with invincible when mp hp was down to orange then self heal to full to keep mob stuck to me. After burning my mp self healing I popped 2nd yagudo drink and continued usual tanking routine. When my invincible wore mob was close to dead. Everyone spammed large damaging spells etc. to finish it off. Actually lost hate for a second towards the end when Wreaker slept me and then paused before hitting me allowing to rng to catch aggro for a second. Voked and it was back on me in short order and we defeated it soon after.

The Holla boss can be easily beaten using traditional tanking methods with a Paladin all you need is a typical balanced XP party with good teamwork and communication. Going to try the other 2 Dems soon here and see how it goes. More to follow...

Some things you may want to add to the original post that I found through completing DEM last night:

Anybody can attack the MR: We went in with a full alliance and there was already an alliance in promyvion-dem. Our two alliances stuck together and breezed right through. Both alliances attacked the MR as even though one had claimed it everyone else could still kill it...and we shared the responsibility of killing the strays. Once the MR was down and all th strays killed both alliances were able to teleport to the next floor.

Once you successfully complete the BCNM you are teleported out to the shattered crystal.
This is very important information. Our third party in the alliance was short one person, we were under the impression that once a party finished the BCNM battle they would be transported back out to where the other parties waited so one who had finished could join the 3rd party to make 6. This was not the case. When you are done with the BCNM portion you are teleported completely out. Because of this everyone should be aware that you need full parties or there will be a party who will probably not succeed in the BCNM battle.

Aside from these two things... great guide.. Rate-up

Just a note to all the Thf's out there who may end up doing Promyvion, Dont even bother trying to SATA the Memory Receptacles, they dont have a back, (Well at least on the 7 or so attempts I made they didnt seem to) so you will always miss.

Just do what other Melees do, just build tp on the small guys and use WS when you have them.

Also, Thfs CAN be a help when fighting the NM bosses at the top, I was the Thf mentioned above in the successful Fulltarupanic excursion into Promyvion-Dem.

Doing SATA at the start of a fight can go a looong way to helping the tank keep the hate, (especially Blink tanks who dont do a lot of DD themselves) this is especially important when you have Blms/Rngs doing such large amounts of damage to the boss throughout the fight.
And if you are organized and have a Thf ready to SATA, you can quickly get hate back onto a tank for those times when voke just isnt enough.

Just saying my piece for all those minority jobs out there who sometimes find it hard to get involved in events like this too, it was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to doing Holla and Mea with my LS in the coming weeks.

I didn't get to 4th floor doing Dem last night.

A good strategy for the 3rd floor orb is to have a bunch of skilled bow wielders (don't need to be obsessed with having RNG) whack it, while mages and bards sleep strays. When orb goes down, kill all the strays that come close to you (aggro) while your on the teleporter. The sleep while transfering strategy could work if the entire party alliance has total comprehension of what you are doing, and you are sure the sleep won't wear off, and you need to hope this will work because you couldn't fight them all off, but if you have 9+ people, you should be able to handle the strays pretty easy, and so avoid the high risk sleep strat.

There seems to be a long delay between the time you accept teleport, and the time you warp. When we tried the sleep approach, some people attacked the strays that were right next to the group (hard to tell they are asleep), and one stray woke up and killed a pt member, as the rest ported. These strays are easy and weak enough to exterminate. Another tip for when you are in an alliance in the middle of combat and trying to get people to listen: Use caps, and repeat your requests.

So with that in mind, choose what job to bring based on what you want to do in boss fight. Not how to help get through the levels. But go ahead and skill up ranged skill before you go, and bring arrows.

On another note, I went as RDM/BRD. It was easy to keep everyone at good hp with Paeon2 while running around. Seemed to regen 60-80hp per song. For running around the levels, it seemed more useful than a BLM sub, but I have a few questions:

For the boss fight, Elem.Seal+Gravity is highly recommended. Can +10 INT from equipment and food, taru race, and max enfeebling skill, be good enough to land gravity on the boss? Does a BLM sub add anything else to the boss fight?

Will Silence prevent the mobs that have the AOE Silence attack from casting it?

Alright, I just got through with Promyvion - Holla last night, and it was my fourth straight attempt here's how we handled it:

We went with twelve people, and had verey few problems.
My party was WHM/BLM, SMN/WHM, WAR/NIN, RNG/NIN, RNG/NIN, RNG/NIN.

I won't go into specifics about how we got to the BCNM, since the only tough part is the big guy himself.

Wreaker is a Thinker type, as we know. He uses AOE Sleep, Curse, and Blind, as we know. SO we brought along a few Poison Potions and Holy Waters. This sounds easy, yeah?

Once we got inside, everyone who had Utsusemi: Ichi, used it. Then our tank (WAR/NIN) took the South side, while one RNG/NIN took each of the other sides (East, North, West). The tank Provoked, and we kited the Wreaker around while we beat it mercilessly. We activated our poison potions just in time for the AOE, used Holy Water, and no harm done. None of the Rangers took a spot of damage the entire fight, just laid off a bit when aggro got too high. Basically we were impenetrable.

Once the big guy got around 30-40% health, our Summoner used Astral Flow with Ifrit. One Ranger used Eagle Eye Shot, and the rest is history.

No Anima used, no close calls whatsoever. In fact, it was pretty bloody easy. And then we got the server record ^^. (Alexander)

So, my conclusion of this all lies in the invaluable merit of Utsusemi. Forget the Black Mage and the Paladin, and just make sure everybody who isn't a mage has Utsusemi. Heck, the Summoner could just use Aerial Armor anyway!

I hope this helps some people, because before this, Holla was quite the frustrating experience.

Figured i'd post and give a bit of advice for those Promyvion hopefuls. A lot of this has already been said but here it goes.

Things to remember

1) Mobs in the Empty are all sight based, and have true sight (no invis). On the majority of floors they're fairly easy to avoid.

2) Memory Recepticles have a nasty AOE knock back that only seems to take effect if it's target is within a certain radius. If one person is too close and gets hit, everyone will get knocked back. If you're at a distance it will target a single person.

3) You do NOT have to kill the strays. Getting hit by a mob while entering the portal will prevent you from teleporting though. You can use a number of tactics to get through if you want to not fight the strays.

4) You do NOT need a full alliance to do this. 2 parties is more then sufficiant, and a smart party of 6 can make it to the top alone (our run below was done with six people)

5) RNG and SMN are incredibly useful in the boss fight. A party with 3+ of it's makeup being these classes can pretty much destroy the boss. For those of you unable to go with hand picked party fear not.

6) Bring lots of potions. Unless you're a group with lots of RNGs and SMNs you're going to need these, don't be afraid to use them. Also bring foods + antidotes ect. Figure out what you need by reading about the bosses before hand.

7) Bring animas. They help.. A lot. Unless you've got a party that can blow away the boss at 50% health (aka SMN/RNG heavy parties) you're going to need them.

Yep this has all been said before. For those of you having problems, just fall back to these things and you should be able to make it through. For those of you lucky enough to get a great party makeup for these fights.. I envy you ^^

Here's a brief recap of our winning run on Promyvion-Mea, It's ripped straight from our LS's message board.
------------------------------------------------------------
Ding!

After much suffering, and a number of speed bumps we finally managed to beat Promyvion-Mea!

Setup was

Nekoita (RNG/NIN)
Aso (BLM/WHM)
Aufban (WAR/NIN)
Serona (THF/NIN)
Phylon (WHM/BLM)
Blackwindz (SMN/WHM)

alone.. Yep. We pulled a "We don't need no stinking Alliance", and got all the way to the top ^^

Here's a brief recap

Floor 1
-------
Mostly cut in dry. This was Black's first time in Promyvion so we quickly taught him the basics, and went to town on the the orb.

Floor 2
-------
Ack! First orb was a fake. Ended up sitting for a bit waiting for a respawn then got sick of waiting and moved to the only spawned orb.. On the other side of the map. Once again text book orb kill. No probs.

Floor 3
-------
No probs reaching the orb (think we killed all of one mob). We've got orb killing down to a science now, and this one fell fast. Total stray aggro through the fight. Zero. Once our big blue friend fell the portal opened. Serona used Perfect Dodge and gathered all the Strays, while the rest of the crew ran through the portal. And waited.. and watched Serona's hitpoints slowly dwindle, and then stop at 70... Seems our little Perfect Dodge trick didn't work out so "perfect" thankfully some quick thinking on Serona's part saved us.. With the wonders of flee she managed to come through he portal still at 70 health to much fanfare. w00t

Floor 4
-------
Rested up and got ready to run. Original plan was Serona to flee a path through but we hit some speedbumps. Always the thrill seeker, Auf yelled "I'll go first!" hit defender and ran through the middle. I acctually had trouble running behind him, kept bumping into the giant *** train of mobs he had on his *** -_-; and aggro master Aso lived up to his name, becoming one dead BLM sitting in the middle of the empty. After zoning we rested, I pulled a path to Aso, Phy raised, and everyone ran home.. Too close..

Big Bad Boss Round 1
--------------------
Ding! Ding!
We died -_-;
We used our previous setup from our third fight. Mages on the stairs, Aufban and Serona meleeing on the left side, with me on the right. Auf would use the times i stripped hate with my arrows to recast Utsu, and pull it back to the left. At 50% health Auf used his 2 hour and popped a psycho anima and started our SC that we were planning to finish with a SATA. Needless to say, our SATA missed, the SC did *** for damage (Fastblade was like 14 dmg, Scission was 0) and things started to fall apart. A bit of misscommunication on my part caused Black to not use Astral Flow until about 30 seconds after we should have started, I used my two hour, Phy fleed, everyone else died, and the boss had about 100 health left >.< 2 animas lost. We decided to take a 2 hour break, and return for round 2.

Big Bad Boss Round 2
--------------------
We started off again this time deterimined to win our 5th encounter with this badboy. We knew our party setup wasn't perfect for the job, but at that same time 2 near wins told us that victory was possible.

Once again, text book start, much more solid then the first time, with Auf keeping the mob to his little corner, and throughout the fight poping Hi-Potions like candy. At 50% Aufban used his two hour followed by Black. After it's first Carousel i used a HysteroAnima sealing all the bosses special moves. We continued to pound on him. A bit after HysteroAnima wore off I popped a Terro Anima.. Self kiting rules. With the boss almost dead i pulled out Barrage for 272 dmg and readied my Two hour... and then everything froze... and the boss slowly feel over... Dead.. Needless to say much rejoicing followed, along with a cutscene. Light of Mea obtained.

btw, just to dispel a common myth:
there are no useless jobs in promivion, altho there are some preferred jobs.

Blms, rangers, summoners are wanted to take out the recepticals.
Explained: You can physicly hit the receptical, even sc on it, but its easier to kill at a distance and avoid being mobbed by the strays.

Whitemages are important for raise and status healing.

Ninja and war/nin are nice, but not essential to beating the bcnm.
I would suggest a standard party setup at least. (2 tanks, 2 dd, 2 healers).

Being medecine, wear good armor, and bring anima to help insure victory.

I finished prom a couple weeks ago and I just wanted to post that it was one of the best times Ive had in the entire game >8D

PT make up for all 3 battles was:

RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
RDM/BLM
SMN/WHM (meee~)
WAR/NIN
WAR/NIN

We all went in to the battles with anima and yagudo drinks ready, but we found we didnt really need them for Dem and Mea @.@

We did Dem and Mea in a 2 party alliance and we had trouble with people following directions (If you can, avoid bringing people you dont know ;P) that we just decided to do Holla by ourselves.

Holla is annoying to navigate. There are like fences blocking your way ><, but we still managed to make it to the top in less than an hour go us! We were afraid of dying in the last floors, so we all bought reraisers and used them on floor 3. We didnt have any deaths so it was good \(`-`

Kiting made the bosses putty in out hands. Elemental Seal + Gravity made the bosses into crawling babies (although I think Dem Gavitied everyone too...that was pretty funny) and our kiting team was awsome. One thing I had trouble as a SMN was landing my Astral Flows because the mob kept moving ><! I was only able to land one in the first 2 battles.

In Holla we had a different strategy. In Dem and Mea, I 2 houred at about 50% along with the Rangers. In Holla I 2 houred at 90%.

At 90% the kiters stopped kiting and fought the mob stationary and one person used an anima that made it just stand there. I hit up Astral Flow and let loose a judgement bolt.

when it was time for judgement bolt #2, Ramuh got interrupted and the Blood Pact timer still got reset (I hate this glitch) I unsummoned and resummoned (its better to have a "clean" and un affected avatar imo) and did my last Judgement Bolt just in time to get us the clear record, wooo! RNG got killed in last battle, so a couple of "o shi.."s were uttered, but I just smiled and let Ramuh do his thing :D

A note to SMN: it sucks having to get in close to command our avatars. When you get in you will most likely be in AOE range, so what I did is that I waitied to Astral Flow after the monster did its Death-ga AOE move. That way you're sure another Carousel isnt coming ; ;

Lufaise Meadows is beautiful, and it was well worth the effort to throw Fenrir on little Taru Formor Monks >8D

Yes Prom takes planning, gil and patience, but I got a great sense of FF11 accomplishment from it. You will most likely not win a BC if you go in without good equipment (we all had Full CoP equipment) medicines and food (Hi-Potion saved one of our melee on the way to BC).

With the right planning, group and gear, its cake \(`-`

Happy Prom-ming! :D

Well got Promyvian - Mea done a while ago and the dang babies of Dem killed us and we just were too dang tired to continue. Did Mea again last night and for the life of us we could not find the last stupid port up! All of the receptacles we encountered were duds so we just left it for another night.

Going to do Holla tomorrow (gulp) and still need Dem..

Found out something just for fun... Went as WHM this time to farm for the Recollections. THere are 4 of us - 3 wars and 1 whm. For the heck of it we got bored and the 1 war with a boomerang started after a receptacle. Then the other 2 just cleared strays and when they both got 300% TP they just wailed it with a skill chain. Of course it woudl blow them back but I kept everyone alive as they repeated the process.

Took a while but we managed to the second floor where we got better xp and faster recollection drops :)

I was able to take out the first Memory Receptacle at Prom-Mea solo as a rng/nin. Key was to stay back and just keep shooting, this way the strays never agroed me. I'd start w/ acid bolts to lower it's defense, used a few, it resists well. Then switched to Holy bolts for most damage. Empty seed would usually only destroy 1 or 2 shadows, but he would recast it fast so had to use bloody bolts occasionally. It was also easier to get hit points back using bloody bolts on a stray when I needed them. The further down the receptacle was, the more it seemed to use Empty Seed. With a whm along it would have been much easier, just have them stay far out of Empty Seed range.

I'm currently exploring second level, hoping to find the ??? and get the map. Will post more as I learn.

ok i have a question nobody seemed to adress in here. Sorry if I missed it but:
What are the elemental Animas for? I see dark animas and light animas etc... in addition to hysterioanimas. Do you use these before the boss so he absorbs a negative affect? Any clarification on this would help.

Bump ^^

We finished Promy-Holla and Promy-Dem in a fury last night... We had failed Holla a few times before, but this time we had flawless victories on all boss fights(6/6). We're going to do Mea tonight >=D.

Setup for my party(Parties were all varying). We had a few animas, while the party with the least animas(1) still had no deaths.
SMN <-Me
RNG
RNG
WAR/NIN
THF/NIN
WHM

Due to previous bad experience with Holla's AoE Sleep/Bind, I decided to Astral flow first off this time, which worked wonders, although the guides recommend against it for some reason :P. In fact, I didn't even get off my 3rd Astral flow. Fenrir x2 for 439 damage each. RNGs both Eagle Eye shot and Barraged at 1/2-1/3 HP, and the WAR used Mighty Strikes first thing to gain hate. We followed the same strategy with Dem, except with only one anima, I believe ^^.

Two of our members also happened to have Memospheres from recollection farming, and they got Holla maps after we cleared the mobs around the ???.

Posted this on the new Promy thread that has popped up, but I figure I'll put this here too since it's a central info thread:

Just killed the Mea NM- Coveter (Looks like a Craver). He was almost directly in front of us when we got to the 4th floor.

Total HP: 2,800

Drops:
-2 Indigo Memospheres (Rare/Ex)
-1 Remnant of a Coveter (Rare/Ex)

Special attacks:
-Murk: Gravityga
-Promyvion Brume: High damage and poison AoE
-Material Fend: Evasion Boost

Edit: As a side note, the Boss has 3,600 Total HP.

Thanks, Prim. I happened to run into and kill both the Coveter and the Cerebrator last night, so will add details either today or this evening.

I pulled full listings of special attacks for all Promy creatures during two nights worth of runs also, so shall likewise update. (I left my notebook at home today and could get it at lunch, but there's a meeting I have to attend at work.. no dice.)

The purpose of the rare/ex Remnants hasn't been discovered yet. NMs seem to drop only those and the matching memodrops for their zone, though the memodrops are not guaranteed.

By the way, each crag has a single crag-specific enemy; that specific enemy type is what the NM will be and what the boss will be. I wish people would fight the crag-specific enemies more; it's the best way to learn what the boss is going to do to you.

HP data added for the Coveter, changed the formatting around some, added info on the Remnant of <nm>'s (though we still don't know what the hell the things are for). Added every skill attack I have seen being used in Promyvion.

If you know what the Remnants from the NMs are for, update me. ^^
