OMGLOL!!!!

Man, I about flipped when he went underwater the first time.
This has GOTTA be illegal.

Only thing that woulda made it funnier is a gm walking up to him in the sky and saying: "Go ahead and try to explain yourself. I could use a laugh"

Although it is impossible for the most part to get underwater at the Ahtu island, people using the PS2 can go underwater using the E side at I think Whitebone Sands in Valkurm Dunes. But everyone can see you.

After googling a bunch of times, I came across a few others (and uploaded them to my own server, don't think I had anything to do with them >_> )

2nd one didnt work for me, but the first one is the player editing a value in memory, its very easy to do, and only effects what shows up on screen. You cant use that money for anything, and it will disapear as soon as you zone or player status changes.

It's cool how in the second video he was able to fly over the water in Battilia Downs to the island with Athu. I kept expecting him to try and attack it from the distance he was at while the treant would be too far away to do anything back.

Nah. I'd bet anything that if he had attacked the treant, it would've leaped right up there with him to attack.

I didn't see it mentioned in the thread, but that little toolbar is accessible in the NA PC version also, though it doesn't seem to do anything. I posted a pic of it a few months back telling how to make it appear in my log, and someone mentioned that it's something that was used early on but disabled that was for instant messaging or something. Here's the pic:

I don't know if this still makes it appear, but since it didn't seem to do anything, I guess it's not important.

yeah, thats done with ctrl space and R I believe, then you use alt and ~ to switch between jp and romaji and engrish or something like that.. it was used for the JP version and couldn't be completely taken out for the EN version.

so.. it's widely used (always) in the JP version, and never used in the EN/EU version.

I saw the guy bring up some dark map in the upper right corner of his screen. Can anyone do that? If so how? Or is that another hack?

Thanks.

I heard it was "built in" to the JP "windower" programme. I dunno, I dont use the english version let alone JP.

アダダダデャ。。。アダダダダダダ。。。。。。。。だ , Well, this guy can hack, this a program MENT for getting suspended from the game, Wich basicly alters the ffxi data, this is a third party program, ALong with windower, and anything else that alters game data, so the gm told me.

I sent a certain person who seems to understand how this may work an idea recently.

How I think this works is that a character's coordinates (among other things) are actually found in memory when the game is played. Assuming you can get a hex reader and edit at whatever offset you find necessary in FFXiMain.dll, you may be able to control where your character goes etc.

I think it would be rather hard to actually HACK their servers. It has to be client-side.

Oh, and I gave no specific offsets etc, since I am tempted to try this with a Hex reader I got to pass Level 5/6 of try2hack.com since my visual basic sucks horribly. Damn... if only I didn't have work...

After watching the videos posted by DiabolusCaligo, I would like to think that I maybe correct.

It is originated clientside exactly how you're saying. Memory loc swaps.

However, it is not just client side, your client tells the server move from 3,2 to 7,-8 and the server will let you do it because it has no logic check for it.

the warping from location to location is in fact server side as well

No way to check except do it yourself, and that I won't be doing in a long while.
