Ack, I just realized another question after reading the SMN update... Are they going to give any other way to raise your Summoning Magic skill other than casting the summon? It's already outrageously hard to level and now they want people to stop casting summons over and over during xp parties. Seems like blood pacts or something should be able to give you skill ups as well...

I think this would be very cool! It would add a lot more to Monk, iwhtout taking away or really changing much of its concept.

Although, I also think if they implemented geomancer.... it'd be cool for it as well... as Geomancer's used martial arts as well... Although, my ideal for a geomancer would eb a mix of combat and magic, which could be subbed mage for either more magic or a DD more combat oriented (especially monk).

Even if no one mentions in today.... I think you should def submit the idea to SE's comments and suggestions.

I thoguht Crane was a defensive stance though, not an offense one.

Has anyone thought of asking about pld specific spells? Every other mage job in FFXI has a line of spells specific to that individual job. However, pld has none.

If you could possibly bring this question forward, that would be great.
#331 Mar 11 2006 at 1:02 PM Rating: Decent
Agreed skid, and they are still implementing changes for all of the jobs=)

I've said it before and I'll say it again PLD should get PLD only spell, Flashaga.

For getting hate from all mobs within a radius of effect.

Crane is a defensive stance. Everything above is based upon evasion/flight, as well as blocking blows. However, the crane is, while retreating, capable of dealing critical strikes using the "Crane's Beak," your pointer and middle fingers pressed to your thumbs with your remaining fingers tucked in. If you don't believe me, give it a shot >:D Take it from someone who's tried it upon themselves... it hurts ^^;

As for Geomancer, I wasn't aware they used Hand-to-Hand :O I might've overlooked it, but I could've sworn they used bells.

Bells were usually Animists, Sages, or in some cases Alchemists. The Geomancer predominantly used h2h, which made them all the more fun.

o.o Well then, that makes sense now. There were alot of jobs in FFV, so I might've confused the bells for one of them. Thanks for the info, both of you :)

So much talk about yesterday's announcements, we almost forget "Day 3" of the festival is now underway.

We have the 3rd and final Developer Q&A Panel, this time focusing on the economy.

There is also the finals of the North American Ballista Royale (which can be watched on Live vana'diel[supposedly]).

And other things which I cannot remember right now, so GO DAY 3! lol

i see, the +critical hit threw me. I was thinking it should be a more sort of +counter.

Yep. And if geomancer was H2H primarily (not as good as monk obviously)... with greater affect based on weather, terrain, days, moon, whatever... +en spells could be actually beneficial in party setups.

It'd give more options :) sub monk for more physical damge overall ( and sntaces ;) ), sub red for en spells, or sub blk for more spells+damage. I'd love for it to be balanced so they were equaly options.

Hmm... you're right. Counter Attacking is an essential part of the White Crane style, as their parries oft set their opponents off balance. But it would probably be an increase in Counter Attack as opposed to an increase in Parry. Still, I would agree with the Beak causing critical hits.

different stances are still a fantastic idea, even if exactly which stances would increase which skills may be debateable.

It could be alot of work though, depending on how SE interpretted the idea... if they actually decided to change the "physical" appearance of the fighter while in each stance. While that would be awesome, it would be alot of work. Frankly, if it just did the stat bonuses, i'd be fine with that.

Although, each race/sex fights a little differently right? are any of them fighing in particular styles? Casue if so, they could just caus ethat particular stance to apply that movement scheme regardless of race/sex while in that stance.

The priamry differences in stances is the actual shape of oyur hands though, right? so... maybe not. Still, stances w/o change in physcial appearance would still be fine.

The difference between each form is just that: Form.

Many forms have "trademarks" that help to identify them, but they're not the only differences. Attack styles, defense styles, parrying types, blocks, kicks, hand patterns, and even a whole internal (ki) and external (strength) system.

As for each race having their own stance... I think they all share the same one. Might be because some are bulkier than others that it might look different, but I think they're sharing the same one.

Different graphics for the stances I don't think will happen. They have a limited PS2 and memory issues might come into play... Might. I'd be hopeful though :)

Monk Stances

hmm i see.

each female seem to stand a little differently, as do elvaans... maybe its just me... but they seemed a bit diff in model viewer.

Well, as for implementation, I think the forms should be gradually aquired. While lvling.

However, I think just giving it as normal abilities wouldn't quite be right... Lvl 75 monk instantly know 8 new abilities (>.<)... I think the best implementation would be if you learned them from npcs(via quests) across vanad'iel when you were "ready" (aka meet the lvl requirement). I'd say one roughly every ten levels.

White crane is generally considered the most basic right? I'd have it first, around lvl 10. Monks who earned it would be more able to tank a bit more effectively in the early levels (before it is unfeasible(msot of game)).

In addition, stances could add an extra equipment modifier... +1 to particular stances.

Maybe this idea should get its own thread?

Has anyone noted whether or not Corsairs have base mp or looked through the translator for CSR or BLU abilities/2hour?

Only info from the 3rd Q&A I have seen so far is from ffxionline.com

Quote:
oops, got stuck in traffic and missed most of the panel for today. after talking to PiNG and Akosygin they said it was mostly about RMT. they were talking about continuing to watch accounts and ban them as necessary.

some stuff i did catch and transcribed:
q: will you make sam better tank?
a: sam always a attacker. will make sam better attack, pld better tank

q: multiple hit ws will no longer give full tp on additional hits, but feels it hurts solo players. will that be adjusted back in the future?
a: no details, but there will be adjustments on next patch to the ammount of tp gained during attacks

dev team has lots in store for future. try to get expansion out on time. plan to support as long as ppl keep playing.
moogle rods will be given after event and they do do "something"

Someone will have the "RMT Discussion" posted sooner or later I'm sure...but then again, if we are to believe what was said a few times on here, do people care anymore?

With a semi-decent PC your going to have little to no frame rate droppage.

On a more on topic note...

What happened to our updaters? I know Sarlos was having trouble with making regular posts cause of the no public net connection at the festival and such, but Feba was making regular updates of things as they happened... but then it just suddenly left on the outa place Corsair info and with the stuff from the job pannel on nin...

I'm afraid to go out and level anything now....I want to experience all my jobs have to offer and learn to use them effectively all over again but I guess I'd have to wait until the expansion release. Maybe I'll just go out and make gil for the next few weeks then start from scratch on my mule....
