I believe it was over 1,000 that were registered, not too sure how many actually showed. It was a huge tent, and they didn't use those heat lamps even once! It was really freezing cold! They press from Japan, Europe and USA were all there.

Thanks for the info.

I'm used to things like the Star Wars Celebrations where thousands are there and you wait 2 hours to see one panel.

Seems like this was a bit more laid back than that.

hey all

sorry my coverage got cutoff. my pda totally died, I couldn't even make calls. iunno why, but it started working a little bit ago

anyway, I'm waiting on a long delayed flight to denver now, so if the damn plane ever gets here, i'll be back to fully review on my pc in about...oh god I'm too lazy, I should be updating by midnight cst.

anyway, no, there was no region map, like in nonconquest ares. it may stya like that, with aht urgan using beseige instead of conquest

since my prediction about the ??? came true, I'm also projecting that there will be three new weapon types. there were shaded black areAs on ah, but only in that section.

nothing else you don't already know.

oh, and as for 'shegalka', stfu.

who cares if she isn't 5'2'' 90 lb., at least shehad the courage to go out in a mithra outfit that she made herself (good detail btw. if you're reading, i'm the one who was in front of you in a hawaiian shirt on saturday :)

anyway...sorry again for te technical difficulties, and thanks for all the praise

yeah it was a open area, the main stage is where the panel was, there were chairs, and tables to sit at and it was all open. So, yeah definately no waiting in lines for a panel.

Does anyone that went to the festival know where we pick up our moogle rod, chocobo rod, and that orb for the leader fights? And when it will be available? They didn't mention anything at the festival...

The OP's links to cosplayer pictures aren't working for me :-( can anyone post links to somewhere else they're hosted?

Ty

All the links work for me, I am unsure what to tell you. They are very large in size, that could be why maybe...?

By the way TrueFeba, I wish I would have been able to find you! Smiley: lol I even walked around with a tablet with "/search all TrueFeba" on it, much to the amusement of people who saw it.

Edit: As for the numbers - we asked the registration desk and they said 700 out of 300 had shown up. This was around 1:00 pm on Saturday, so most everyone who would be there was there.

BTW, not being able to see all of the cosplayers, out of the top 3, I really think the Yagudo should have won over the Dragoon. That took a LOT of effort (I used to make my own cosplays back in the day), I'm sure, and it had to be damn hot inside all the feathers. Congrats, and I REALLY think you should have gotten higher. This does NOT mean I don't think the DRG was good, but the Yag was definitely better in my opinion. Oh well..

Hopefully they'll do one of these on the East Coast so I can show off my kiddos in taru RSE.. (Plan on making them the costumes for Halloween)

They definitely made it sound like they will do another Fan Festival next year. They also made it very clear that they do hear information from the community. If enough people ask for it, maybe they will be willing to do it here on the East Coast next year.

Hi all. I just got home and it's a little after 10pm here. I was with Sarlos for most of the event. He has all my pictures, so I won't bother to post them as I wouldn't want redundancy.

I will second the injustice of the scoring for the live quest, but hey, we get chocobo wands...and the ability to kick Trion, Volker and Ajido-Marijido's asses in BCNM, so I can't complain. Smiley: tongue

The event was definitely a blast. My husband and I were in the first group to play the Aht-Urgan tour and getting thrown into besieged without knowing anything about it was very confusing. They loaded us into the area and suddenly there were 20 monsters in the middle of town trying to kill us. Nervewracking, to say the least.

Jessie (QueenofBlades) did win third place. I believe the prize was a very nice set of Logitec speakers. I think your video would have gotten a better response if they had played it first. The first video they showed had a lot of the same footage in it. Of course, the first video they showed also seemed like it had 3/4 of the game recorded in it. (Someone sitting next to me while it was showing actually commented about the person frapsing practically the whole game to make it.)

The art contest was also interesting. There was definitely a wide variety of styles. Some of the top 10 didn't deserve their spots, imo. The MC said he was going to explain why they were chosen, but then he didn't, and I wish that he had. Someone actually made Vrtra in oragami. That was neat, but not a finalist.

I have to say that I was personally a little bit disappointed with the merchandising. They sold out of half the stuff in the first 2 hours of the event. That's just poor planning in my mind.

Anyways, I'm really tired, so I'll check in again tomorrow. I just had to see how this thread was doing.

Thats what I was thinking too, as to the mithra I really dont give a $hit, that pic is like 8 years old and I'm even uglier now. Karma bomb away, its just the internet, at least I didn't use a sock to say so. Happy adventuring.

There was a BCNM against Ajido-Marujido, Volker, and Trion at the festival?

I suppose it was like a ENM or BC. It was really fun, my party and I did it 3 times. You could go against all 3 at once, 2 or 1.

When we first did it, we took all 3. I was WAR, I went to voke after the THF started kiting the guys, I hit my voke macro and both the monk and I were asleep. Aijido had cast sleepga. We were dead within less than a min I would say.

After I awoke, the whm, rdm and thf were pretty much dead, and then ajido nuked the rest of us and it was over.

We won the one on one against volker. I asked how other people beat all 3, and they just said they had used their 2hours right away.

I only really post in art threads when I want to show my art, and threads relating to my race or job so I don't post often.
Unless I have information to share.

Unlike you who posts just to be a dumb Troll. Also look back at all the other people who replied to your comment, none of them were socks, and I don't know most of them. They are just good people, not socks or trolls.

BTW, the people that finished all of the quests are supposed to get an orb so that they can do the leader fight whenever they want... pretty sweet.

I'll agree that the scoring of the live quest should have been a little more standardized.

But I'm not sure it would have helped you against Ambition ^.^
(I was on that third place team, at 291 points... lost every one of them in the art quest).

About the heroes' BCNM: our team beat the match against all 3, and from what I heard, there were 2 strategies that had worked.

The first was the one I had originally come up with and presented to my team, and was the one more teams used, which just involved having the thf kite Volker (for perfect dodge, in case of V's mighty strikes), while the rdm kites Trion, and the rest take Ajido as fast as possible.

The second, which is the one we actually used (and won with no deaths at all), involved having the rdm actually kite both V and T, while dropping Ajido fast.

Either way, once you get it down to 2 of them, it's a piece of cake. I hope some people who weren't at FF get a chance to try it out with their friends who went. I'm interested in hearing how well people do!

And finally, on another note: I wanna see more people's pictures with the mithra! I am thoroughly convinced that my team got the single BEST mithra pic out of anyone, but I need to see some other good ones to compare! Don't be shy, post em!!

I'm glad to know that Ajido is the biggest threat in that bcnm... hope they implement in game.

The people that beat them at the fan fest get an orb to fight them in game. THey didn't mention anything about making it a standard BCNM.

My team was unbelievably happy when we beat all 3. That was a toughie of a fight. I can't wait to bring some ls members into it when we get the cordial invite sent to our mog house.

Team Minute Maid will be revived next year, and we shall reign victorious!!! [:insane.cackling.laughter:] Logging in last night was a blast - I was so bombarded with questions. Smiley: lol

The most common was "tell me more about Puppetmaster!" Of course, my standard answer was I will tell you on April 18. Smiley: tongue

Who knows, maybe next year it will be closer to home for me. I was telling people online that we should post feedback suggesting they do it on the East Coast next.

I started uploading pictures last night and organizing links. Tonight when I get off work I will post the first batch for everyone.

I think it would be neat if they would alternate the coasts each year, or even have it centralized somewhere like Chicago or Indianapolis.

REALLY gonna try to go to the next one.

I have to say, as i saw you personally doing all this in Real time ^^ that you did a great job bringing back all the information to the FFXI comunity ^^ besides you with the 2 tablet PC's there was also someone actually typing all this out on his Cell phone ^^ I couldnt believe it when i saw it LOL but it was great to see! My only Regret is that they didnt allow more time for me to go around and get more questions from the audience.
