Because I've never been in a group that does this.

I often see people in cheap gear. OMG they aren't new teh r teh gilsellerz!

(EX: Hgjkgj, Tuyituy, Ccbnvc) Remember, hundreds of legitimate players will probably have names like these too, but when they display the other symptoms above as well, you can be sure.

In my linkshell, we have a family that are Holy<insert second part of name here>. Are they gilsellers? What about the people that make their name Apple<name>? Most people just look at the names and assume gilseller or RMT, especially after reading this guide made by an angry 13 year old whose parents won't let them have their credit card.

Quote:

- If you ask them if they are a gilseller or RMT and recieve no answer and they are not afk.

I ignore silly and stupid questions quite often (I've only been asked if I was gilseller a few times, but I get asked other dumb questions).

-If you do get a suspected gilseller and they use Chinese.

Because every gilseller is Chinese

-Job combinations and party set ups. RMT almost always use Black Mage style mana burns to kill mobs, comprising mainly of BLM, with a tank and a healer thrown in usually. Some of the more basic party set ups will use a Thief, a Ninja or Paladin, along with another DD and a Red Mage or White Mage. It is rare to see jobs such as Dragoon, Dark Knight, Bard, Samurai, or Beastmaster as a gilseller, but probably not unheard of.

I actually remember many groups that consisted only of DRG's.

III. - How to MPK a gilseller

Whoever said that MPK is MPK is MPK is quite right. If you do MPK a gilseller, of heaven forbid someone you just suspect as a gilseller, you will have a GM called on you and you will be banned. Good job.

Quote:

IV. - How to stop a gilseller's exp

Once again, you can have a GM called on you for these tricks, it's called player harrassement. I don't why you think they can't call a GM, they can, and you will be the one being banned because you're the one that is doing something wrong right out in the open that can be proved right there.

This is one of those good intentions guide, but it is just all wrong. The only way to stop gilsellers and RMT's is to just not buy what they're selling. Of course we all know that the people on alla are all good little players and don't do this, so what's the point of saying it here? All in all, if you use the methods in your guide, you will either just get a legitimate player killed because you're too quick to point your finger or you will get banned for player harrassement. It's just that simple.

That would be the sentiment I find disgusting. Who decides which 1000 innocents get to die? Who decides whether their slaughter is "worth it" or not?

Off topic but... Killing innocent people is a horrible fact of war.

It would be a perfect world were fights only breakout in dragon-ball-z like cliffs and deserts... but...

Who decides? The ******** setting up their headquarters in a hospital. The terrorists putting their lab in the basement of an elementary school. The @$$holes that put their military complexes in *the middle* of a residential area. These jerks pick the these battle fields. They *know* it will eventually become a battlefield when they move in. They decide.

The entire thread is flawed. Comparisons of MPK'ing a gil seller hand-in-hand with entering a war to save hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, talk about rich kids and not feeling bad for poor saps who earn 5 dollars a day to feed their family and whether or not it is immoral to break the rules to change society, as written by a MMORPG addict who sees less of the outside world than my 12 year old sister.

The entire thread is bleh. Bleh I tell you. gtBLEHo.

#36REDACTED, Posted: Jul 10 2006 at 10:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok i see what you'r trying to say. But like this dude said you are giving people who dont know nothing about mpk a easy to learn walk through on how to do it.. You should of stoped it on how to look for Gill sellers and how to go about and calling gm.. Things that help not things that can just **** things up even more.. So if u know what i mean i think you should take this back and just update it and put some of the things people are telling u here into the next updated one.. All in al its a very informational little walkthough i would say.. but watch out on what your saying.. Its like telling a dude how u can detect a murderer and u telling them alll the signs and how he is geting away and everything.. its just showing them how to kill and get away from it and the only thing u was trying to do is help o-o lol ^^

Subdefaulted but reposting, and i will keep to do so:

We all must start a vigilante war on the RMT. Wake the hell up, moral pusies. We have to save vanadiel from this scourge.

OH NOES SAVE US FRUM TEH SCOURGE!!! THEY MESSED UP MAH VIDEDO GAME!!!

Get a little bit of perspective, you belligerant little boob. No one likes RMT, but there isn't a damned thing any of us can do about it so long as people keep buying gil. You can run around MPKing the gillies all you like; you'll just get yourself banned, and all the sad little boys that want that sexy hauby oh-so-bad will keep on punching Momma's Visa number in to IGE's web site.

Just grow up and deal with the fact that life is filled with annoying crap you can't fix. Report cheaters to the GMs whenever appropriate, and find a way to have fun with the game. If you can't do that, just quit for crying out loud. Save Vana'diel from the scourge of your incessant whining.

This is the mentality that kills us. Keep this mentality away, and we can destroy them.

Yes, I'm sure your persistence will pay off. In fact, any time there's a multi-million dollar market with no barriers to entry, enterprising individuals will run away the moment they hit the very slightest inconvenience. MPKing the farmers occasionally will surely discourage and force them to give up, even though SE's recent destruction of US$3.9M worth of gil hasn't slowed them down in the least. While you're at it, why don't you organize a gasoline boycott to bring pump prices down, and start an Internet petition to save your favorite cancelled TV show?

you have fun with that. If you need me, I'll be with the other folks, you know, playing the game and stuff. >.>

LOL @ the dynamis suggestion in the OP... that's classic.

The only place where RMT really pisses me off anymore is at Ulli, but I know I can beat them there.

OK, I know it's easy to get off topic, but I really wanted to keep this thread in a positive manner. Most of those MPK tricks only work on manaburn style parties, or are easily reported to a GM by non RMT (GM's do favor JP NA and EU players over RMT anyday, they know who they are, and they will cut you slack). If you use these tools on innocents, may Altana have mercy on your soul.

Ok, Dr. Obvious, since it apparently wasn't obvious to you, you either didn't read 1/4 of my post except that part or else you were just being funny. I will direct you to the parts of my post that make you look like a ****** now.

At the top of that section...

There is a great deal of controversy over this issue. Just because someone is wearing crappy gear, is anon and without a link pearl, or is rank 1 and has a severely underlvled sub job does not nessecarily mean it is a gilseller. And someone having a name like Hgjks or Jysksuw doesn't mean so either. But Altana will not charge you points if you get that wrong. Chances are if someone is using nooby gear or has an underlvled sub job they don't know how to even call a GM, so go nuts! (Reminder: If a GM is called on you, it is because you have lost the expansion "Gilsellers Rising" not because of any advice I have given you in this post) As a general rule, here are the most obvious features, if someone you see commits 3 or more of these they are almost certainly a gilseller, but please remember there will be exceptions, so use discretion and care:

Thanks for all the support given, I will continue to update more ideas into this. I understand that players want a way to MPK gil buyers but that is infinitely more difficult to identify them. I know of 3-5 gilbuyers on my server, and that's just from word of mouth. If someone were to hack IGE and find out all the people who have bought it on the other hand.... well, I would give my body to that person, and I have a nice body.

Simple solution to stop RMTs :

Enable PvP outside Ballista! What better way to stop gilsellers from botting than to challenge them to a PvP duel and beat their ***. They are already equipped poorly, it would be slaughter.

You gonna see if they weigh the same as a duck too?

Gonna show how retarded you realy are by calling everyone who out claims you a gil seller to?

Gonna whine and whine to all the GMs you can because someone out camped you?

Gonna whine and whine and accuse everyone as a gil seller?

Gonna call every person you dont like a gil seller?

Gonna act all high and mighty while you annoy the living hell out of all of the honest players who just so happen to play better?

Gonna make a huge *** post about your accomplishments of beind a living **** head?

Gonna go blame some more people of bein witches? err I mean Gil sellers?

Gonna start a giant witch hu.. i mean a giant Gil Seller Hunt? Just to make yourself feel better about yourself?

Gonna ruin a ton of people's records of being honest players just because you dont like them?

Gonna tell everyone you have a list of 9999 gil sellers and you want to shoot them all?

I was going to ask what about stopping the gil sellers who mostly craft (which is what I mostly do), but I'm not sure much can be done about that. A few months ago when I started playing FFXI again and didn't know what a gil seller was, I'd see the same person at the AH in Port Sandy. It didn't matter what day or time I signed on, he/she was ALWAYS crafting. I'd sign on at 2 am and he'd be there, 10 am he'd be there, 4 pm he'd be there... non-stop, day after day, week after week. Eventually I figured out the character was probably controlled by a group of gil sellers since no single person can spend 24-7 crafting. The body needs to sleep. The character's name seemed to be a random jumble of letters too, which added to my doubts.

So anyway, the more I saw him there the more it pissed me off, to the point where I started going to the AH in South Sandy instead. One day just for kicks I placed a really low bid on something that normally costs around 200k and I got it. I almost crapped my pants. Then I checked the listing to see who sold it, and it was the person who I suspected of being a gil seller. That made my day. I was happier about a suspected gil seller losing 200k than I was about the deal I got.

I still see the same person and he's still crafting. In fact he was crafting bolts last night in Windy while I was fishing for moat carp by the fountain.

I googled for his ffxi ID and saw it here:
http://f15.aaa.livedoor.jp/~faifan/index.php?Fairy

Yep, this is on the fairy server. I am **NOT** saying that the people on that web page are gil sellers. All I'm saying is that the char I always see crafting 24x7 even these days is listed on that page. Is there anyone who can interpret that page and indicate whether it's a list of gil selling IDs? If it is not I will edit this comment and remove the link. Thanks.

Edited, Jul 10th 2006 at 6:49pm EDT by goobysmootcher

Edit: I just looked through the list again and saw a second person listed there who is *always* crafting. Could those ID numbers be the ID numbers associated with orders for power leveled accounts in the making?
