Dunno if Thayos edited it or I missed it but NEW MERIT CAMPS = Full of Win! But please ohh dear lord, allow them to see that we want at least 10,000 exp an hour. I don't care WHAT kind of job I merit with, or what we have to do, or what anyone is, or where it is, or what the mob is. I just want them to realize we want to finish our merits some time before flying cars, and that people will STILL overcrowd TOAU area's if an average merit PT cannot get that.

Is this not proof that SE likes to use "difficulty and system restriction" as an excuse? Or am I reading that wrong? How can you say you can't do it, then say it is possible?

Just like all the other stuff they claimed they couldn't do and done..

Damned with the negetivity, really. It's kinda pissing me off.

Anyways, a moron can add the qualifier "Currently" to their statements as there's a difficulty when trying to speak in a non-native language. I thought people would get that by now. But no, everyone's hung up on the small ****, as usual.

"Big Issues such as Kings" Really is that a big issue at all? Do you even need the damned equipment to play. Isn't there other gear you could be going for?

If it's an entire system like salvage drop rates and the exploit, then sure, it deserves some attention. But you're talking about a handful of notorious monsters that pretty much have been camped since near game-inception. Move on already.

I blame the Dev budget being cut by SE whoring Ivalice and FF7 to kingdom come.

Then laziness.

15k/hour is the minimum acceptable range for me for meriting, so you should be able to easily pull that off at these new merit camps or they will NOT be worth using.

Yeah I'd have to say the interview didn't really show anything worth looking forward to. Not really exciting.

Lots of unfinished business at hand.

I don't do land Kings anymore because of the bots. It's not that a certain LS has superior claimers, they just have a better bot. That being said, people have a valid reason to *****. Ridill can only be obtained in the Aery, not Einherjar. Most people I know do Einherjar just for the E body or misc kings gear. That's a problem, and that's why people are upset. Either you join the botted LS or you don't claim thus wasting your life sitting in a hole. I hardly call that fair.

Anyways, now that I've given my individual item commentary:

The interview doesn't strike me as very encouraging.

Somehow the Mazemonger is going to give gear that is both "not good for PT'ing in" and "gear for low level". I read that as "we don't think low level gear should be any good."

The "good" things they're putting in there, it seems we hear it all the time. "We're looking into stopping RMT" "We're gonna fix jobs" "We're gonna add avatars." Sounds like a rehash of last year's panel.

The "bad" things... aren't real promising. They seem to have spent a lot of time talking about what they won't do. I don't say can't because I do not believe there's a problem they're listing that can't be fixed, they simply won't. Limitations is always the excuse until they get it to work, then they say "Surprise! We planned this all along!"

Seeing SE throw their hands up in surrender over cheaters at Land Kings, then claim they're confident at stopping cheaters at everything else is sickening and pathetic.

If this is what it's going to cover, they'd be better off not letting the Dev panel talk at all.

I like the gear that is apparently going to drop from these chests.

+5 Str in Fire weather for low level melee pants gear is godly, as are the persons dressed up in those costumes.

That was the highlight for me - not that I'm now confident all the serious offenders will be caught, but it sure beats "No there's nothing we can do at this time" or "We can't comment."

You do know the appearance rate for fire weather in the low level areas right?

Nope - seemed to be fairly frequent for Dunes for the 13 jobs I've taken through there.

Amusingly enough, I found more to look forward to in that SE blog than I did in the Dev Panel discussion.

1) The implication of Jueno in the WotG missions (whether or not it's the past I can't tell)

2) a Jeuno flag to go along with the nation flags (maybe something good for moghancement?)

3) The last shots looked like possible Dancer relic. (was reskinned Dancer gear)

So nothing really changes, not much is introduced, and with typical SE response, go F... yourself you red mages and mages jobs. No new avatars till Dec 09, and pretty much nothing really changes. Might as well put account on hold till Dec 2009 when the real updates are implemented, yay, happy holidays to you to suckers... so typical SE. The botters and the gilsellers once again win, players lost, what else is new. It is very disappointing.... the buzz was pretty good and promising.

OMG the MMM looks amazing, you get like 200xp to complete it yay!!! go SE, 19 marbles, 9,981 more to go to get that rare/ex so so gears, gooooooo players!!

That really is too bad. It was something mentionned by a lot of players that would help move the game for new players to make gil more quickly and have access to all levels of gears...

Personnaly, I always hated jeuno, and I hate Whitegate even more, so I would've loved a chance to hang in Windy a lot more... *sigh*

that's just stupid, and a total cop-out. How can there be any difference between storing NQ and HQ gear...?

The very large one i don't know, because it would be a pain to use in a party or in a constricted zone.I don't want to be in party, and suddenly be blinded because the smn cast behemoth and he overlaps the entire party, or he casts behemoth in a place like phomina aqueducts, where they can't fit.

Wow, you guys are idiots.

Look, you don't say "Nothing is planned." because you are admitting you cant ban people that do it at all. You don't admit this, because you pretty much remove any fear or nervousness that SE one day might ban you for botting. You even are saying that you wont change kings at all in anyway to fix this, by instancing or what.

It looks bad to see you not willing to change or even deal with this, and its giving the message that if you ever want to camp a ground king, you have to bot.

That would make sense. If they are willing to hold the conference in the EU, they should hold a conference closer to the East Coast. Then it would be closer to the people in Europe and more convenient for the people in the States.

102 hours/week is nearly 15 hours a day for a 1-2 month process. I don't think that's even close to being enough, lol - figure 7.5 hours a day for 2-4 months, or ~4 hours a day for a 4-8 month picture. There are plenty of people who average playing 4 hours a day, and for the most part they sure as hell aren't looking at knocking out the Alexandrite within 4 to 8 months.

When one comes up with random superfluous figures designed to be over the top, and they're in fact still understating it by a lot.. Well I think that speaks for itself concerning this.

With as tight knit a group endgame tries to play itself off as (Looking at you BG forums)Why they haven't organized a global boycot of these mobs as a display of seriousness to SE is beyond me. Is the individual greed so much that you're going to keep trying the same methods, pounding your head into the wall so to speak, instead of doing something that might catch an eye?

the PW fiasco was a blooming nightmare, but it caused a reaction out of SE. I see no reason why people won't use that level of political ploy to force SE's hand on this. If it's been an issue for that long, then a larger display has to be made, IMO.

AV buttons diddn't work, SE has publically stated no plans to change kings, so it's time to start putting your foot down harder.

As far as all the other negativity, I'm still pretty disappointing in the forum playerbase reactions. My opinion is that they went in with overly high expectations, or rather, didn't go in at all and had overly high expectations of the news. It was a one day event, there wasn't any REAL new expansions comming out to show off, so honestly, what more was there to be expected? We got answers to some questions, even though we don't like them, but instead of ******** over forums, which isn't working when it comes to NMs, how about something a bit more prevalent?

Less complaining about the problem and more pushing for the solution has always been my policy. It kind of influences my pov on things.
#51 Dec 07 2008 at 1:34 AM Rating: Decent
It's not that everyone is being negative about the news, but when the developers comes off as idiots, with big attitudes, and basically talking down to the player base, and admitting that they pretty much are not gonna do much of anything in the near future, so yeah that's pretty much set the tone of negativity that you see in the respond from the players. We all pay our monthly fee, and we know that every expansion from SE is "incomplete" and they are "releasing content" every 3 months, but these last few updates are getting worse and worse.

Who knows, maybe we can all blame it on the global economy, maybe SE is pretty much done with FFXI and just do their best to stretch the lifespan of the game and milk us as long as they can. Hence all these so called downloadable contents, pricing them as full expansion at $30 total when they really not adding much than distraction, that should have been free as part of the quarterly update. All these so called "improvements" probably not going to happen until Dec 09, they probably don't even bother balancing the mage jobs, or the pet jobs, or any jobs that they deem letting the players log in and play for 1 hour or 2. For once I thought they finally realize that people want fun enjoyable game to play and not time sink and level grinding, but I guess old habits die hard.
