I've never seen so much wild speculation based on 3 tiny screenshots and 3 short sentences. The range of emotional responses are truly hilarious and entertaining, from "mages are now DD" to "FFXI is dying, SE has forsaken us".

/popcorn, please carry on.

Obviously you just recently joined the game then. It's been known to happen about every 3 or 4 months....

For starters, every version update ever, no matter how awesome it seemed it would be, ended up being a disappointment when it actually came out. Having people already disappointed in the next update is no surprise, BUT! This information is quite possibly the most generic information you can release about a version update. "We're gonna add missions and change stuff!" Ok, not shocked, sounds like every version update ever to me. This means NOTHING, we already know exactly what is slated to be done.

Basically, I hate all of you.

actually you must have just recently joined too because counting this coming update, updates have been released in 4 months only TWICE every other update since NA release has been 3 months

Wow...just...wow....

A. It's called a joke
B. What part of "3 or 4 months" confuses you?

OMG look closely at the 3 update pictures. The PLD from the first one is also in the second picture. Also, the super white background that the Tarus are standing on must be the Paladin's shoulder and the Taru's are just insect size, shrink spell? What does all this mean? Paladin update, new JA, Holy Warrior of Altana Punch, 9999 damage 2 everything while healing your entire party for double enmity and granting a 10/tic Refresh, 30 second cooldown. No enemies can detect by sound in the entire zone for 5 min after being used because the sonic boom was deafening. Meanwhile PLD will also get the new spell shrink so that he can carry a small party of Tarus on his shoulders to magic burst his self-skillchains, but the PLD gets enmity because they are too small to detect.

This is why I'm not hyped up. Hope for the best, but expect worse. That's how it is for me.

I'd like them to fix WSes first since both SMN, BLM and SCH WS should obviously be a MP generating one, just like the WHM WS. No mage wants to deal damage with a stick, they want to restore MP.

The only way they could possibly make it so WHMs, BLMs, and RDMs can wield a weapon other than a staff in front line is to allow you to transfer the stats of one weapon over to another one temporarily.

Which sucks for WHM, because we already had Templar Mace.Smiley: oyvey

Which sucks for BLM, because staff was our best weapon anyway.Smiley: mad

Which sucks for RDM, because they will never land any other spell but Silence or Gravity again (since those tend to be the two most important, I assume most RDMs would opt to transfer Wind Staff stats to Joy Toy.) Smiley: glare

From the more hybrid perspective, melding the Ice Staff would be better since Blizzard's a better nuke and Enblizzard is the usual enspell of choice. Gravity's something rarely used in any practical scenario and aside from the few camps where Silence is needed, a Gekko or Guillotine can do just as well.

Though, if we're talking outright melee, I'd go Thunder Staff. DEX+5 and Crit+15% = yummy.

Or for /BLU: Earth Staff -> Joyeuse + Genbu's + Umbra + Jelly Ring + G.Trews = -44% Physical Damage, -50% Physical Damage at night.

This level of rabid speculation goes beyond what we've had in recent updates though. People aren't even looking at the entire pictures or putting together a complete and rational thought before jumping to conclusions.

I mean already we've had (paraphrasing)...

"Mages get some sort of new bell weapon!"

"Pld's get 1/2 handed war hammers!"

"NPC fellows get to wear AF!"

And thats just from people taking a 1 second glance at the pictures and letting their imaginations fly away to crazy town.

Thats what I'm talking about rabid speculation for.

Someone saw that picture and somehow didn't notice that the NPC wasn't the pld and got all excited about NPC's wearing AF.

It's really a banhammer - and I finally get a weapon to banish the a-holes and idiots and give the GM's a break. With all that's happening in today's economy, it's their cost-effective method of internal quality control. Thou cleanseth thyself.

*edit* lol somebody said something about banhammer like as soon as I posted something. Grr.

Regarding the odd hammer in the 1st part of the image.

How about this:

For MMM a new voucher will be introduced with some victory condition that involves beating on a lot of monsters.

A group of new runes will be added with names like "Staff" "Great Sword" "Axe" etc.

Placing one of those + the new voucher will give you a goofy looking temp weapon to use on your MMM mission. And as you do, you get skill ups.

Perhaps I'm giving SE too much credit for figuring out a way to use MMM to solve the skill up issue created by campaign and FoV leveling.

Isn't there already a solution to the skill up issue introduced by campaign and FoV?

I think they call them skill up partys.

Personally, when I saw the paladin with the hammer, I came to the conclusion they are adding Whack-a-mole into MMM.
