yup looks liek i was right about the march update bein pushed back.... just when i was lookin forward to doin new things next month or well.. i wonder if this means crystaline prophecy has been pushed back as well

SE never released a date until now so no you're wrong. Now you might expect the patch in march because of previous patches and such, but that has no basis in fact for this patch.

Personally, I think SE couldn't figure out to buff RDM without nerfing it the next week.

We are dealing with a very, very, very, very, very dumb developer, or a very, very, very, very, very smart one.

So then, we are either very, very, very, very, very much in danger, or very, very, very, very, very much safe.

Also: Hammer ftw? I wonder if it's just going to be a Club-class weapon with a .dat of a hammer (like Katar/Suwayyah being HTH or Sai being a Katana) or if we're looking at a totally new class of weapon with new WSes.

I think the bells are new weapons that allow you to attack from a greater distance. You gain tp and have less of a chance to get hit from AoE. If that's the case I think it's kinda cool. As long as the damage isn't super weak and the WS have some cool effects.

After looking at the tiny picture released by SE, it is simple to deduce that they have in fact found a way to allow mage classes (blm, rdm and whm, but not smn) to effectively melee. This will allow mage classes to escape the boredom of properly timing and activating spell-based macros by affording these jobs the exciting opportunity to properly time and activate melee-based macros.

Following the success of games such as "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band", Square Enix will be releasing the Final Fantasy XI expansion kit "Bell Choir: Bells of the Goddess". After plugging the USB "Bell" controller into their computer or console, and equipping their character with one of many soon-to-be-released "Bell" weapons, players will be able to damage or otherwise negatively effect enemies by properly timing the motions of their bell controller with on-screen prompts. Properly timing a series of "rings" will trigger "ring-chains", which may provide party members with a wide variety of beneficial effects. Failure to properly time rings will enrage enemies, and eventually cause character death. Characters with a main- or sub- job of ninja and two controllers will be able to use the ability "dual wield" to utilize two bells.

We are truly entering in to an entirely new age of FFXI.

The way I read this is that 2 things will happen. First off is the adjustment, this could mean alot, SMN adjustment on rage/ward that has been wanted, but also Campaign adjustment which I think fall into this catagory. The interesting part is the additions which should mean we're getting something new, hopefully for the RDM and WHMs, their frontline adjustment.
I hope that this update will have a little more longlasting "wauw" factor compared to the last update where it was only MMM that caught the players attention(and was taken down for maint on the same day they added it >.<)

They are cheering cause they finally got an update that might end up good.

Or they are franticly awaiting further ridicule.

I'm wondering about that hammer.... the first thing that pops in my mind is...

"It squeaks when you bang it..."
"That's what she said!"

I am still baffled by the addition to PLD's weapon selection of "El Chipote Chillon". Yes, the obligatory "Chapulin Colorado" joke was already made but it is definitely the same thing, either that or it's GaoGaiGar's Goldion Hammer. Either way we win!

Now that you mention it... the ground looks pretty white...

Garden of Ru'Hmet/Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi/Temenos all have the same floor design. Looks like they just took the picture in one of those 3 zones.

Why ppl always like to limit their own mind?

People "limit their own mind" because then they don't look like morons when your "Great Hammer" ends up being a 1dmg club that squeaks when you whack something.

I'd like them to fix WSes first since both SMN, BLM and SCH WS should obviously be a MP generating one, just like the WHM WS. No mage wants to deal damage with a stick, they want to restore MP.

Spirit... taker...?

I think you missed the point. We are talking about how SE added new job specific WSes that do not do anything that fit our jobs.

Basically SE went for "new WSes" over "Better WSes". Mages however mostly just wanted a "tier 2 spirit taker" so they could gain MP even better.

In simple terms, would you have been thrilled if your new mythic WS was just a 50 damage stun WS? It would certainly have its uses... but it wouldn't be your bread and butter.

Also that guy on page 1 who said we might have to wait on July/August:

April is 4 months since last update.
July would be 2 months from that update.

Anyone using math would be more likely to assume the 8th month, or in other words September.

Most likely there will only be 3 updates this year, since the first takes over 4 months.

I think if you go and talk to most whms. You will find that aside someone with a relic. We generally get the same numbers as a spirit taker. So you aren't missing out on much.

What's sad is that this update notice is so brief we can't even get to 4 pages speculating on it, no matter how crazy.

It is true for most of them. Just because SE didn't manage to ***** up a few of them doesn't mean that they didn't fail for the most part.

The difference of course is that you had nothing like this before. It is easy to be happy when you get something your job was lacking. It is something completely else when what you get is something you do not want.

The mythic WS for BLM, SMN (and I have no idea about SCH but probably that too) isn't better than not getting a WS at all. Because getting one you will never use is worthless.

I don't know what to compare it to, but it is roughly as useful as gilfinder gloves from Fafnir. You could use them if you want to, but the amount of times where anyone would ask if you have it is zero.

Isn't there already a solution to the skill up issue introduced by campaign and FoV?

I think they call them skill up partys.

Go try to take Great Sword, Great Axe, Staff, or Polearm to cap on a job. Or try and see how easy it is for some lower level people to cap these said skills. No one said it's impossible, I've done all the above and more. But it's seriously been a well known problem, and has been for a long time about skilling up. Mainly how slow the skill ups come.

And with the level sync system, it forces you to have to skill up. So not only do you have to party for EXP, but you have to party long periods of time just to keep native skills that should normally be capping, capped. Square Enix has tried in recent years to make EXP, and leveling Easier, this was counter productive, which is why they said they intended on fixing it. Is this concept so hard to understand?
