That said, why wouldn't you want to pull hate? Tanking is by far the easiest way to push your reward up. A DRK should be able to tank any non-boss Campaign mob easily enough as long as you have some way to heal yourself.

I "can" but most of the time when that happens it doesn't end well.
Especially in Sandy areas..... orcs double attack hurts after awhile lol

rdm/dnc, you can tank 3-4 mobs easy with a -pdt set, and pretty much cap exp everytime easy
A lot of jobs can do this...

I can link a bunch of orcs on me on drg (19% PDT) and spam blu Healing Breaths for the same effect.

Of course I die when I run out of MP, but that doesn't matter as I've easilly capped exp and can afford to do nothing for 5mins (weakened)without hurting my exp.

but with rdm, you don't have to worry about a pet dying, and with /dnc i never ever run out of mp. go do glacier fights with the shadowwing group, and you see where jobs like pld/rdm, pld/dnc, rdm/dnc, rdm/anything really shine

If mobs are pounding me, they aren't pounding my wyvern. I will die befor my wyvern dies, but like I said in that time of tanking I have easilly capped exp and can afford to afk for 5mins while weakened.

I don't play Drg in campaign, if I need exp and don't want a merit party, I'll go solo Sea Puks or Greater Lolibri for 10x more exp than I can make in campaign.

My point is you, like many, play a combination and do well, and thus think it's the best when it's not. And whilst a post saying "This combination is good because of XXX" is useful to show how it caps eap, you shouldn't try and argue that it's better than another combination because it's not. EXP caps so easilly that there isn't one best job.

It's rare I don't double cap on RDM. Gear for haste melee/damage reduction hybrid, spam poison and dispel on every mob you fight (avoid para and slow, you want to get hurt a little for more exp), Enspells count towards your magic damage cap, spam cures on yourself as needed and heal npcs between waves. With that, that'll hit almost every if not every exp category.

Most everyone here is obviously vastly superior to me in campaign. Orc counter ruins my day ~ sometimes for fun I'll go war/dnc w/ joytoy and Orcish counterstance will kill me in literally 10 seconds. Or I'll fight puppies as sam/dnc w/ soroboro and watch my HP dwindle to nothing while they constantly spam moonlight-nonsense-move for 3k HP, counter like mothers and hit me w/ that def down move; I can't healing waltz myself enough to live.

Drk or blu i'm dead if I'm tanking. I've tried /nin, /whm and /dnc, doesn't matter, I'm owned in two minutes.

Moral of the story: if you suck at campaign like I apparently do, stay away from Sandy areas (orc counterstance), stay with the group (there's always a mob of people playing it safe, all fighting the same mob) and sub something that heals (for yourself or whomever is taking damage). Sure, you won't be captain uber like all of the people who post here, but you'll get a respectable amount of XP/AN for your efforts.

If you are using a Joyeuse (or any weapon with OAT)or really low delay weapons, and tanking against Campaign Orcs with a high Counter rate because of Counterstance (particularly MNK types), you are doing it completely wrong. If you are fighting Orcs, and are tanking, switch to a higher delay weapon or one that gives fewer swings over time but more TP per swing.

To hell with that noise! When I see my orc use counterstance, I get all up in his business with a Kraken Club! If I survive, my exp is almost always capped after one or two of those. Of course, after counterstance wears, I need like a good 3 minutes or so to Boon my MP back up again from spamming Cure V between every attack round... then I'm ready for another counterstance! Orcs are funny!
