My point was to actually look for answers to your questions instead of (or rather, before) making someone else sit down and type them out for you.

It's the equivalent of buying a new video game and not using the manual to figure out how to walk, and instead calling up a friend, and asking them. I'm not saying there aren't instances where you need to ask for help, I'm saying make a freaking effort, because more than half of the questions posted are retarded.

Actually I'd say a little less than half. And usually even the obvious ones are preceded with "Sorry I'm new."

There's a difficulty in the wording here. (as they say the Devil is in the details) Isn't asking for the answer to a question also seeking it? It's two different methods to the same goal. And as far as the FFXI manual, it kinda sucks. I think we can admit the fact that FFXI isn't very new-user friendly, regardless of the content of the questions here.

The italicized is also the crux of the problem. In a public forum like this: thousands read it daily. So, if one does not want to answer the question, one does not have to. Such a person can answer willingly if they chose too. There simply is no compulsion being made other than the one that is self-imposed.

The more pertinent question in this situation is: If you are not in any means required to answer a posted question, and you do not wish to type out the answer, then why take the time to rant? The answer is simple, either it is self-gratification in venting your frustration in seeing ill-worded, lazy questions, or you truly view as if you're making (or attempting to make) some sort of change by doing so. In the former it has little really to do with the person asking the question, in the later it would be more effective to be civil, like you have been.

Finding pre-written answers to questions before inquiring the community about it may help most simple needs. But it simply lacks the human element that usually makes most MMO's alluring. That's I find it so personally difficult to snap at even poorly written, seemingly effortless questions unless there was something specifically unlikeable. ( I didn't even snap at ten until he flipped out about religion being used as an academic example.)

Correction: of took should read have taken. I see people use the word "of" too many times when they should be using the word "have".

OP: I understand your frustration when people scoff at your poor grammar and spelling instead of focusing on the question you asked. But, in all fairness, when you're dealing with a form of communication that is based entirely on text you should expect some criticism when what you post comes off as incoherent. Coherent posting shows the reader that you actually put some thought into what you are asking about instead of just someone smashing their face against the keyboard. I mean, which would you respond to?

Example A:

I keep getting lost in Windurst Woods, where can I find the Auction House?

Example B:

I made **** come out of my butt?

Clearly, Example A would get the better response...although Example B is by far funnier. I hope this post helps.

The hypothetical OP in this scenario could have made a cohesive post in that same allotted time as well.

That said,

Don't expect me to put any effort into helping you if you won't put any effort into asking. If you don't care enough about your question to make sure I can easily understand it, why should I care enough about your question to answer it?
