Actually I'd say a little less than half. And usually even the obvious ones are preceded with "Sorry I'm new."

My point was to actually look for answers to your questions instead of (or rather, before) making someone else sit down and type them out for you.
There's a difficulty in the wording here. (as they say the Devil is in the details) Isn't asking for the answer to a question also seeking it? It's two different methods to the same goal. And as far as the FFXI manual, it kinda sucks. I think we can admit the fact that FFXI isn't very new-user friendly, regardless of the content of the questions here.
The italicized is also the crux of the problem. In a public forum like this: thousands read it daily. So, if one does not want to answer the question, one does not
have to. Such a person can answer willingly if they chose too. There simply is no compulsion being made other than the one that is self-imposed.
The more pertinent question in this situation is: If you are not in any means required to answer a posted question, and you do not wish to type out the answer, then why take the time to rant? The answer is simple, either it is self-gratification in venting your frustration in seeing ill-worded, lazy questions, or you truly view as if you're making (or attempting to make) some sort of change by doing so. In the former it has little really to do with the person asking the question, in the later it would be more effective to be civil, like you have been.
Finding pre-written answers to questions before inquiring the community about it may help most simple needs. But it simply lacks the human element that usually makes most MMO's alluring. That's I find it so personally difficult to snap at even poorly written, seemingly effortless questions unless there was something specifically unlikeable. ( I didn't even snap at ten until he flipped out about religion being used as an academic example.)
