I am not able to do update on PS3 yet, can anyone tell me more about this? Reduce by 1/2 or something?

Actually, they're probably referring to the Iron Giant in Vunkerl, considering they said "without taking damage." Using terrain on the amph doesn't result in you taking no damage, however it was entirely possible to kill the Iron Giant without ever getting hit due to the nature of their aoe normal attacks.

Terrain's been used way before abyssea to fight mobs like the amph.

Well, whenever I've seen it fought, unless someone fell off the cliff face only the tank seemed to have taken damage the majority of the fight from all TP moves, sometimes aga's broke the height advantage but TP moves never hit anyone else.

They changed their mind. Also they have to balance content as they go, but realistically we don't need level 99 right now with current content.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

They never said we would get 99 by the end of the year. They simply said in their chart that this would be stage 3 of the cap update. They also said in another interview they weren't sure weather they would raise it by 5's or 10's after the first raise. They decided to go by 5's apparently. Probably a better idea anyway.

Had a quick question

"- Trigger conditions for certain NMs have been eased. "

Does this mean they require fewer pop items to spawn or that its easier to trigger Red/blue/green !!! (aka you can do it on ironclads while they are attacking)

also looking at the 2010 timeline:

the only thing missing from the december update was new NM / HNM

Which to me looks like something they would add for level 99 players not 90, then have to go add more at 99. So yes they did say the cap was going up to 99, and in 3 installments in 2010. However because they left the time line blank they got away with not actually doing that.

SE didn't touch what they should have touched (COUGHCHLORISCOUGH), but they changed the..Cactuare? Whatever those chess piece bastards are called since they're quest related now.

It was never said once that the cap would be 99 this update ever. The adding or not adding of new NMs has nothing to do with it. So claiming they said they would raise the cap to 99 this update just because they said new NMs would be added is just incorrect and doesn't make any sense. Also new NMs and HNMs have been added this update.

Your missing the point

There new nm/hnm they added where in abyssea.

In the time line it said they were adding them for non-abyssea areas, which as far as I know didn't receive any.

The only way they would add non abyssea HNM is if it was the final level break so they didnt have to rebalance them in 3 months.

So yeah by saying they were raising the level cap in increments to 99 and with a new set of NM / HNM planed for this update outside of abyssea, they did say it in directly. Considering they didn't mention new nm/hnm for the other two abyssea.

And before you go off arguing, no I didn't expect them to actually make it to 99 this update. When I saw scars only went to 85 I knew heros was only going to 90.

Im not delusional :-p

You seem to be the one missing the point. Unless on the time line it said "The level cap will be raised to 99", then they didn't say it. Nothing else being added determines what the cap will be. Arguing that they said it "directly" based on the fact they said something else would be added is just false.

This is just an assumption and not a fact.

They never specified weather it would be Abyssea or not. For all four updates shown on the timeline it says "Several new NMs and HNMs will be added" the past two updates only added them for Abyssea just like this one so yes they did add them like the timeline said they would.
