That could very well be it. I was able to farm a few hand seals this morning at 5:30AM EST which is just before JP peak time kicks in. I was fine after that. I'd be curious to see if we still have the problem during US peak time.

Ugh, i just froze up on the dock of WG. To be honest I hope we're not suffering freezes from mere congestion. It'll make looking for seal shouts in Port Jeuno a headache just for starters...

During the week I usually start playing around 8 or 9 PM EST and the freeze ups are happening. I also had no problems with freezes shortly after the server merge when I'd regularly see 3k people logged in. So who knows.

I did send another ticket into tech support and got the same response I got the first time: run a check file. Even though I keep telling them I've done it. So I'm at a loss what to do. I'm just going to keep filling out their form every time I get a generic response and pray they acknowledge it as a known issue at some point.

well, theyre advertising the usual "heres a patch update to fix the things the big update has accidentally caused errors with"so we can only hope our freezing problem will be fixed too

I can't get the link to post right from my phone, but no mention of the freeze ups in the Current Known Issues SE listed today.

Starting to think this will get about as much attention from them as besieged freeze ups.

It's sounding like the lockup problem in Campaign has become widespread...

If that's the case then they really need to address the issue because an inconvenience just became a problem that almost invalidates a way to play the game...

I've been xp'ing in Abyssea Konschtat for about an hour now with no problem. I completed the update but there was no mention of our issue in the update notes. It's just past JP peak time so that could be the real reason. We'll find out. I hope they really are working towards fixing this.

Just happened again warping into Port Jeuno. Update didn't fix it.

This is going to be frustrating if it becomes an ongoing issue. Beiseiged freezing pretty much stopped me from doing beseiged. If I start freezing everywhere else, FFXI is done for me.

Me too. I wish they would at least acknowledge that there is an issue.

That is as frustrating as the freezing itself.

I have also submitted my issue using the form. I froze up several times in Port Jeuno last night myself after playing the night before just fine... except one lockup in Ru'lude Gardens which I thought was just because so many people were in the zone at the time.. Definitely makes it hard to play the game. I might have to get on my PC just to see if I can get out of Port Jeuno tonight.

I played Zaf on PC and my dual box BRD on 360, and was able to play on 360 in Abyssea - Mis[tab] for about three hours yesterday with absolutely no issue (I was just duoing with myself). I warped to Port Jeuno and locked up after about three minutes.

Kind of annoying, glad I don't main 360 anymore.

Wife couldn't stay in the game more than 10mins last night trying to pt in abyssea attowha. And two of the other people in the alliance were having the same issue. Alexander barely gets1k people on at any time so it isn't server volume. Even with all the graphics filters on she locked. Though it was better with the filters on

This seems to be a pretty huge issue. We had multiple people in our abyssea party last night that kept crashing at the same exact time (all playing the Xbox 360). My fiancee was the first one I heard about this happening to, and I thought it was just his Xbox breaking down again. :/ It seems to crash straight away after he logs on (his "crashing point" is in Bastok Mines, and I heard that's another hot spot for all the Xbox crashes).

I just have to wonder why all this is happening? I hope there will be a fix for this soon, and that it will be acknowledged by SE. I feel really bad for console players...

I noticed with the 360 at least this seems to happen a lot when FFXI has an update following a 360 Dashboard update. It sucks regardless and I preferred the 360 version for certain things over the PC version too.

Damn THF's.

Although that wouldn't explain me locking up in a remote area of Abyssea Altepa looking for VC's (unless there was a S/I THF somewhere I didn't see).

So would it be politically correct to shout in Port Jeuno for all THF's to remove their pants before entering the zone?

This is slightly unrelated, but i am having the exact same issue and i'm running the PC version. My main account is in port jeuno and it crashes the second that I attempt to log on.

I finally received a response to my customer support inquiry. I'm not very tech savy so I'm not sure how to do what they suggested. Even so, it sounds like ********* Did anyone try this and have it work?

Regarding your request for technical support. Please find your answer below.

After reading your email we believe the following suggestions are related to your issue, however if you are still having trouble after reading our suggestions please respond back with the information requested at the end of this email.

Suggestions we have:
1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC. TCP 1024 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535, also check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software /hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.

Please take note of the following FAQs:
* Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
* Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
* If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.

Its great to see that SE have both ackowledged there is a problem and they have identified the cause, so a fix should be in place very soon, just as soon as they write the patch and test it.

I am not happy that SE announced the exact cauSe of the 360 freezes as there could be some FFXI players who might deliberately run around in Raiders Cullotes forcing x360 users to freeze... this ofcourse could be used for that persons 'entertainment' or also to gain advantage if any NM/ regular mob they might want for themselves was being killed etc...

Lets hope the fix is within the next couple of hours tops.
