Is this old news or a Photoshop job?

Haven't heard of him being beaten before.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

So what was the secret then? Just survive Astral Flow with a second alliance or something?

And yet Absolute Virtue still remains unkillable, despite being 2 and a half years older than PW...

Of course it might just be a coincidence but getting both Hachiryu Haramaki and Shenlong's Baghnakhs in 1 go on the first kill could mean they are 100% drops.

The trick is to shoot it until it dies.

I thought they used the "Kill it to death" strategy?

All that they've revealed so far is that they didn't use Kraken Club Drks and that they got lucky with the Lamps not using Astral Flow.

By the way, for those who didn't bother to read the whole BG thread, it was Apathy LS on Remora that killed him.

Not a huge surprise since they had gotten him to around 20% on their last attempt, but major congrats

Since astral flow is %HP based, you dot it and have everyone on hate list except a DD log off right before it flows. DD takes it to astral flow percentage and dies, people log back in and resume fighting.

Now if only AV's **** were HP based...

How much ya wanna bet this is the next ninja nerf s-e adds. Because I'm pretty sure they didn't intend for you to log hate in order to beat Pandemoneum Warden.

If that's how they did it, SE could see that as an exploit and adjust it in the future so you can't do that. Depends how upset they are that PW has been beaten after so relatively few attempts.

**edit** Looks like the guy above thinks the same thing.

The problem is that it's a technique that has been used in the past (and, typically, by newer shells presently) on a lot of NMs, and "fixing" it would probably ***** up everything hate-related on the monsters' end. (Temp-logging to get something that aggroed you and you just slept to get away from? Not gonna work anymore; it'll find you and track you down once you log back in, unless someone kills it in the meantime.)

The alternative fix is to just have PW depop and/or insta-rage if anyone on its hate list DCs... but that screws over anyone participating with either a flaky connection, or with someone else who has a flaky connection.

I don't see SE ninja-fixing PW, except possibly to add in a couple of the removed forms.

Could some anti-templogging thing work for just an area? Say if you log off in Xarcabard, you still lose hate... but if you do so in that one area with PW, you don't lose hate?

Possibly, though knowing how SE works so far, it'd probably end up ******** up all of Aydeewa. (I don't see them fixing it for just PW and the lamps, as I doubt they can fix things for that.)

I did, however, leave out one possibility - they could have the lamps queue up one Astral Flow for each person on the hate list at ~30%, and then launch them every 15 seconds starting at 20%.

#23REDACTED, Posted: Jan 16 2009 at 11:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's definitely an exploit. In order to be able to do this you need third party software and you have to use a game flaw.

Afaik, you can still see a hp bar without windower and vent isn't considered a bannable offense.

It really isn't that difficult to estimate 75%, something closer to 62% maybe, but not 75/50/25%.

1:) You have to know Pandemoneum Warden's exact HP so you know exactly when he will flow. This part requires windower and the tp party plugin.

2:) You have to be able to communicate with others who logged out from outside of the game, which means Ventrilo or another web based internet chat service so you can tell them when it's safe to log in.
These are not necessary:

1) You can eyeball ~22% with some practice. Log out at 22% and wait.
2) If you're playing on PS2, this is obviously not against the rules (otherwise setting up a conference call on your phone would be as well). Likewise if you have multiple PCs (or, say, one PC and a laptop). Finally, what if you have the means to set up an actual conference call by way of phone service?

Losing hate from logging out, also, is intended game design (otherwise seldom-used zones would become death traps; the game servers do not distinguish between logging out and zoning, while the lobby server [which has nothing to do with game mechanics] does). However, this constitutes "a novel (mis)use of intended game mechanics"... which, still, due to the game's design, may be hard and/or impossible to properly fix.

Well they confirm in their BG thread that they use the logout method.

Log off; btw avatars have linked hate with lamp repops; lamp repops work the same as all final form lamps in that they /as PW's hate list, however avatars /as lamp's hate list in that if you are on the lamp hate list they will spawn on you. I tested this by casting diaga and ran, I got solo AFd, this doesn't mean logging should not still be used, as it should.
