I would like to commend the staff at Allakhazam for letting all users be as open as they have been. I have not seen any attempts to hush those who strongly disagree with the purchase, nor delete their comments. If we spoke of integrity, you have all won respect in my eyes.
Many comments have been made tearing through your virtues and morals, yet you allow all users to see what others have to say about your decisions. Whether they are truths, half-truths, or lies, to allow these to be voiced, as many have been personal attacks, that is honorable.
I am eager to hear and see the truth behind all of the business decisions that have been made, and I truely hope to see responses to all the questions, as time will allow.
Even though there are allegations of the involved parties in the merger, I thank you for all the hard work you have provided for free to so many people, over the years and I hope that others will remember what the staff has provided for the community and weigh that into their remarks.

Hmmmm interesting points in the forum. I'd like to know where the profits are going to. Are the profits goin to a bank account in another country where the U.S. can't tax these guys on there profits. There already gonna shut down gambling sites here in the U.S. Why not just do the same to IGE? Same thing in my mind. Just my two cents.

Congratulations Alla. What people don't seem to understand is, that although gaming is fun and gives them something to do, it is still "gaming". You set up a great site for many people to enjoy, it helped tons of people through tons of quests, and you were a pioneer in getting this all done.
After God knows how many years you finally decided to cash in. I don't blame you one bit. You have a right to a good life, and so do the people who spend countless hours updating this site and bringing new content to us. I hate IGE like everyone else, but I fully respect the fact that this was a profitable deal for you and it just enhanced your life and the life of those who work for you...after all you've given us I would hope for nothing less.
You don't have to like IGE people, but for God's sake, after all this place has done to provide great content and updates, and all those times you came here looking for info when no one else had, and you depended on them, they came through.

Turn off autorenew if you must, but the only one you are ******** is yourself...because to this date no one has touched the value of content that Allah has provided, and personally I don't think that is going to change.

I always wanted to support this site because it was an independant fan supported site for gamers, and because it maintained a stand against business practices that hurt the games I play. Now its a corporate site, paid for and owned by a company that endorses and encourages those very business practices that Alla used to stand against.
If anyone can come up with a reason why I need to pay money to support an IGE site, I would love to hear it.

Maybe you should try reading what you are quoting, or even what you are typing, it usually helps a little. Please explaine to me how being owned by a site that owns IGE and being owned by IGE are the same thing.

Alla sold his company to another company who, among other things, owns IGE. What this means is that this parent company owns both Alla and IGE. Alla and IGE have no control over each other. The only company who has any say in what either of these sites do is this new parent company.

It really amazes me how little some people know about business.

I said this a page or two ago, but nobody had a comment about it: According to the company website, IGE does 10's to 100's of millions of dollars of business per year. Companies of that size are not purchased by other companies without notice. IGE was founded in 2001. Have you seen or read anything since then that spoke of a purchase of that company by another one? Have you heard of rumors that another company was thinking of purchasing IGE? Having neither seen nor read anything about a takeover/merger of IGE with another company, and not finding anything on the web indicating anything other than IGE being independantly owned, I can find no justification for thinking that Alla and IGE were both purchased by an independant company.
I hope that you're right. Either way, it wasn't my company so it's none of my business what he does with it, and I haven't had premium for a year or two, so that issue doesn't bother me either. That said, I still check this thread often to see if any of the questions or misconceptions will be answered. It's obvious that either you or I are wrong in this case, and at some point I'd like to know which of us it is :)

Allakhazam knew this was going to cause a ********** and he's not stupid. He knew that the a lot of people would assume the company involved is rpg holdings. If the company wasn't RPGH, or a different IGE shell, he would have had the foresight to make sure the contract allowed him to say that it wasn't.

I will agree with you for the most part groogle. I agree IGE is in a great positioin as far as we know and as far as we know they have absolutly no reason to sell. That doesn't mean that they didn't.
As far as telling us who the new owner is, it's very possable that certain parts of the contract aren't finalized so the name of the new owner is still being withheld. Odds are the name of the new owner will be realeased when Zam.com is finalized.
All I know is that their is no proof that it is IGE and until this site changes or it is proven that it is IGE, I am not going to start making assumptions.
Simply put, their are a whole lot of details we don't know, so all we have to go on is rumor and speculation. I just find it annoying that everyone is trying to pass off speculation and rumor as fact.

Random Scholar, if you want to try and hold on to straws so that you can avoid accepting the fact that Alla is now effectively owned by IGE, go right ahead. It seems pretty clear to everyone else, and even more telling is that Alla won't even deny it.
I've never been able to stomach wearing those kind of tinted glasses, but if you're more comfortable that way, I'm happy for you.
In the meantime the rest of us will deal with Alla and IGE now being part of the same corporate structure in whatever way we see fit.

Again, alla being owned by IGE is all rumor and speculation. I have yet to see this "fact" that everyone is talking about. Rumor and speculation are HUGE when it comes to the internet. I won't blacklist a good site because of rumors. When the truth comes out or the site changes I will leave. Until then, I will stick around. If I am looking at it through "tinted glasses" as you put it then I guess those glasses have become tinted by the countless rumors I see flying around the internet on a daily basis.

Your both saying the same thing. The parent company ownes both IGE and Allakhazam, so IGE doesn't own Allakhazam.

The point that no-one here is making here is as follows:
The deal happened in complete secrecy in about November 2005. Even many IGE employees were kept in the dark of the deal that was almost certainly worth millions.

Let me rehash:

The proof is in the writing. Basically in a nut-shell, the "parent" company has overall oversite of all the divisions. Profits are shifted between each unit on an "as need basis". Alla needs upgrades.... the money didn't just fall out of the sky, the profits from the other division like IGE were used to pay for it. How hard is that to understand. Same thingm goes for the money that Alla makes from add revenue and membership fees, IGE needs to expand or hire more people.. maybe some of the profits from Alla goes to that. All a parent company consists of is literal monetary oversight. Each unit operates individually of each other, but the money goes into the same pot at the end of the day. I noticed a post that the Feds had closed down US based gambling sites. Great thought for IGE, but technically their not selling real money and your not actually doing anything that is against the law when you buy it.. Their offices are in Miami, actually South Beach to be exact, so if you don't like it, head down to:

Truly a disasterous turn of events for all honest gamers. No matter the spin placed on the events by those who are profiting (or is it profiteering) from the recent acquisitions, the bottom line is that gaming and honest gamers have taken another wound. Will the bleeding be staunched or will the wounds prove fatal?
I would be very interested to actually see the contracts that closed this deal. I rather expect that, much like Las Vegas, the odds are all with the house (IGE).
I am entitled as is anyone else who has provided personal information to Allakhazam to a guarantee that all personal information is now and shall continue to be kept secure. The "holding company" IS IGE, nothing convoluted about it, other than the convolutions such companies as Enron managed to use for a few years, until the stench became overwhelming.
Although not everyone has a price, it is clear that Allakhazam indeed had his price. When one lies down with dogs, one rise up with fleas. The bottom line here is that Allakhazam.com has crawled into bed with dogs and I, for one, do not want fleas.

Goodbye Allakhazam. It was fun, but I despise IGE and everything they represent. I've been playing FFXI for over 2 years now and I have never purchased gil and never will. What IGE does is wrong. I don't know how grey the area you operate in is legally, but you are parasites of the virtual multiverse. I hope that you enjoy the massive amounts of money that you make for employing people who plague us with hacks, cheats and scams as we try to relax and enjoy ourselves with a service that we already pay for. If it weren't for you, the economies of the various worlds you infest might stabilize and the games become more friendly to the players and not to big business.
