I would just like to take a moment to thank Ayvaen,
as well as Verence, Diamondelle, Mijikai, Shiromiro
and Ninomori for the thoroughly enjoyable introduction last night to their group.
Since coming to FFXI, I have been in a linkshell from day one, comprised mostly of friends of mine and/or my wife's, from previous games. They are a terrific group of people, and I have never had the slightest inclination or desire to look for a different group of people to LS with.
However, I am a roleplayer at heart, and have been for many years. Not many in my customary linkshell are terribly interested in RP, which tends to leave me to occasionally wander off alone, making my own adventures, and usually dying somewhere a person of my level would be crazy to go to ^^.
My ears are ever open to catch the occasional snippet of someone with a degree of passion in playing his or her character, and once in a while it can be heard (if you listen closely), over the shouts that fill the city streets; or on the wind as it blows through a lonely mountain pass somewhere.
It was in such a manner that I came to meet these new friends.
At first, I simply waited for an opportunity to greet these people I heard, and to express how welcome and pleasant it is to know that there are others in our world who take the same delight in finding more depth to our collective story, beyond the usual
"omg ive been camping him for that drop for a week and those damn voke bots get on my nerves so bad, i need that 500k!".
I intended little more than to show appreciation for their presence, but ended up being drawn in to a most welcome change of pace, and a chance to excercise my creativity more than a typical night will offer.
By the time it was done (heh, in fact, almost before it had really begun!) I was the proud and honored recipient of a linkpearl, the only one I have ever accepted since the time I was given my first (and still my primary) one (and I have been offered a number others).
I always thought it somewhat strange that some members in my Linkshell would occasionally say "Switching linkshells now, be back in a while".
For me, I never had met a group of people I wanted to spend time with over the group I already had.
Of course I realize that in some cases, these were HNM hunting linkshells they would switch to, and I never faulted any of them for having other groups of friends; I simply didn't have any reason to want to be in anyone else's LS.
Well, I have discovered a very pleasant reason, and now I proudly carry two pearls with me (thank god I've done all 4 gobbiebags), and I very much look forward to the opportunity to get to know this new group of friends better, and to engage my creativity with theirs and enrich my own experience of Vanadiel in the process.

Just for the record, most of the people in the LS have still neglected to write a little about their characters, so that section is kinda... smallish for now.
I took the opportunity last night, after leaving game, to come directly here to find a post,
any post, of yours Kaahi, in order to get the link to the LS website.
I looked it over and read all there was to read.
If it is not too bold of me to say so, I am ready and willing to offer a write-up for my own character, should there ever be space available for it, and should my involvement be deemed worth making note of on the site.
Given a weekend or so, I'd also have a cut-out screenshot just as the others do, ready to use.
As a last note, one of my good friends from my other linkshell is also a roleplayer, and I think she would really like to have the chance to join as well.
Like me, she would still have her "home" in our current LS, but she has the spirit and desire to make more of her game experience than just
"hunt-level-farm-die-hunt-level-farm some more"
