Evolve Launch Day + New Trailer

Turtle Rock Studios' 4v1 shooter, Evolve, finally hit the shelves today. In Evolve, a co-op team of four players hunt down a player-controlled monster, which can evolve and becomes stronger during the match. There's a plethora of purchase options available for the game on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, ranging from just the base game up to various add-on skins or monsters.

Solo Gameplay Experience

This morning, 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios released an extended look at two Evolve matches from a solo perspective. The first shows a single player as the monster pitted against AI hunters, while the second has one player controlling the entire team of hunters by hot-swapping classes during the match.

Evolve: Big Alpha Impressions

The Evolve Big Alpha weekend was definitely a blast; nearly every top-tier journalism site started tossing out alpha codes by the thousands and the masses gobbled them up for the weekend to test out the game servers. Streamers, YouTube personalities, weekend adventurists and even teenage brothers and sisters joined the massive asymmetrical shootfest of man against monstrosity. An impressive turnout definitely helped 2K Games / Turtle Rock to turn development and server testing towards the right direction, but is it enough to promise that the game will have lasting power? We take a look.

Evolve - Big Alpha Trailer

Evolve certainly made a strong impression at conventions this year, and despite its first alpha triggering a delay in the game's launch, 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios are ready to once again unleash their inner beast.

Evolve: Delayed Until February 2015

Original Release: October 21st, 2014 – 10 weeks away
New Release: February 10th, 2015 – 26 weeks away

Turtle Rock Studios has announced that Evolve, one of E3's most intriguing games, is now delayed. This is likely a direct result of Alpha feedback. Testers are having fun, but say it's "lacking depth." Extra time will give Turtle Rock the time to flesh out their flesh-rending 4v1 combat.

A Hands-On Look at Evolve

Today at E3, Cody Bye, who is known around the office as "DoctorAFK", showed everyone on our team why he's the President of ZAM during our hands-on session with Evolve.

2K and Turtle Rock hauled their set-up in full E3 style and I got to experience what this madness with the huge monster was all about. This game isn't structured like any others out there: it's a dynamic 4 versus 1 deathmatch, which basically means four hunters track, trap and take down one big baddie. The baddie is not your usual boss AI: it's controlled by a player. In our game, I was assigned to Assault, which is their heavy damage-dealing class with some serious swagger, wielding a flamethrower and a minigun. Another co-worker picked up the Trapper, whose job is to trap and contain the monster with a harpoon and a pet called Daisy. The Support and Medic rounded out our 4-man hunter party.

Evolve: Coming October 21st

You can sink your teeth into Evolve – and your friends – starting October 21st. Developer Turtle Rock Studios (makers of Left 4 Dead) announced the date on their Evolve Twitter account.

This tactical 4v1 Goliath smashfest is shaping up to be an exciting piece of this year's fall lineup.
