I remember the quest to get this way back when. I never really used it though. It was just something to get. Never understood what it was beyond something that looked kind of interesting compared to normal weapons.
Oh I forgot to add this thing looks really really cool.
So precisely how does one get this and what is it for?

I was using this today while trying to get BLU Spells in Sarutabaruta, and noticed something strange whilst killing beastmen (Yagudo).
Whenever i killed a Yag with the Battledore, I ALWAYS seemed to get at least 3 drops, be they 3 Yag Feathers, 2 Feathers and a Seal, or 2 Feathers and a Scroll. My drop rate on Silk Threads seems to be greater with this than my THF28, so I was wondering if anyone had noticed the same?
It may just be another side-effect of the new Signet upgrade, but I don't recall reading anywhere about drop rate increasing, but I may be wrong.

Trade bugards stuff and they might give you it? is it a stack of something when they all are together?
Since there's no entry for the quest or the Hoary Spire, I'll post here. Anyone know if I can get the painting if I don't have an airships pass?

got my Hoary Spire last night on the airship from Jeuno-Windhurst. So to answer your question, yes you need airship pass. Unless you can complete the event quest somewhere else that noone has discovered yet.

from what I saw, it might be that you have to wait until the 5 bugards are traveling together until you can trade the Wood bugard items for the gift.
I traded a full stack of ginger cookies and 2 stacks of crystals, getting nothing. once the 5 were traveling together though, I traded a few selbina milk and got the gift.
not 100% sure, maybe you just have to trade it a whole ton of crap.

equip the Battledore and take 2 vials of black ink and a bast parchment on the air ship Jeuno-Windy and trade them to Dilauriome on the top deck to get Copy of "Hoary Spire"

Yeah, what is this level 1 club for any way? Some hidden effects or what? Doesn't seem all that useful...

Got mine, but whats it for? After the hassle of trading to bugards, you get lvl 1 club?
Just got mine today. I talked to a kid in North Sandy near the gate and he ask you get bring him a new year's gift from the Event Bugards. After trade alot of stuff to a Wood Bugard I got the gift and traded it to the child and chose the option "Whatever is in the kid's pocket".
You got to do the event.
