How exactly does this enhance either of those spells? I've been testing this in dynamis for more than a dozen runs, and so far with full darkmagic+ gear I get better drain/aspir with pluto's staff.
(full dark gear = dark torque, dark earring, abyssal earring, sorc's gloves, af1 pants and anrin obi)
It doesn't seem to lower recast time on the spells or enhance the amount of HP or MP I get back.
I can usually get between 350hp and 450hp with pluto's staff and drain. Best with this thing is 329 and that was once, avg with diabolos pole is around 210.
Anybody have any clue if this item really does anything at all? Could there be a bug? It looks like Pluto's staff (or darkstaff) is the way to go and this is another useless (broken?) item.
(since the item description for this has nothing to do with day of the week I don't see how that would matter.. but you never know with SE's inability to answer questions about items or their need to hide any information that might help players)

shouldnt this be rated at lvl 75 instead of showing lvl 0 on the search for job specific weps
Yes I've also heard that some of these weapons named after the avatars had something to do with enhancing the avatar or avatar cost in some way when it is summoned. I know that carby's mitts apparantly make summoning Carbuncle free...as in no perpetuation cost. If we could get a confirmation about any hidden effect of this item that lowers the perpetuation cost or enhances Diabolos' power in some way, it would be much appreciated. Thank you ^^. BTW I'm at an apple store in my local mall typing this on a really cool Imac :P...It's different for me because I use PC (obviously since FFXI is PC-only). Ok, enuff off-topic ranting. :P

someone told me that this had a hidden effect of -avatar perpetuation. also i was told it was equivalant to using HQ staves. so can anyone confirm this??

well... in order to get this pole dont you have a choic to get the Summon of him, or this. If so then you could never really tell if it had a hidden effect cause you could never summon him.
The quest is repeatable. You can get Diabolos pact and all his items if you wanted to.

I've tested this pole in Dynamis and with Dark Torque i've noticed my Aspirs to be higher than usual mostly 100-140MP average with the stones (MP bearing mobs, they kinda vary with Shell), with and without ES. I've also tried it a few times with Drain, seemed to get back a fair amount of HP back but nothing that shocked me yet (330ish drain i think).
I think if you want full effect from the staff equip it with Dark Torque and whatever Dark Magic + equipment you can find, i'm happy with the pole so far - does decent damage and the Slow Effect goes off every so often, not a whole lot though. But as for it's enhancing powers definate dynamis must have for BLMs, heard it's 10% more effective than Pluto Staff, but give it a try if ya got a whisper to use ^^

Maybe you just havn't updated your profile, but 48blm/20whm this is a bit above you, plus if you going to say this sucks, at least give some info on why it sucks. Like where you tested it, what you tested it on, effects without staff equiped, with dark (or hq version) and with staff, and some showing of the results, of at least 5-10 rounds of this, just to eliminate any fluke results.
Does it increse the effectiveness of those spells more than a Dark Staff does though, is the big question. Since it's 24 levels higher, you'd guess it was better, but you never know with SE.
this would be an awesome combo to use along with the ring, you would be aspiring/draining mad amounts.
