U need a thief with TH2 to increase the drop rate

Is anyone willing to give a helping hand on this one? I am on sylph and have asked both my LS's and apparently they always have something better to do. I dont have much money to offer, I am rng/nin, but I have been putting this off for months now leveling other jobs cause I dont wanna get to 58 with out it. Anybody??

I got this the other night. After managing to get some people to help with the coffer, we got this key first drop. Also ended up with a testimony later in the night.
Also hit 58 the night after, so I'm now proudly wearing this. Full AF! :D

Couple quick answers to ?'s I saw and just my 2 cents......
1st: shikaree aketon Vs. Hunters Jerkin
Long answer short If your missing use Hunters If u Hitting use shikaree aketon. BOTH are good and BOTH are better than the other in certin areas.
2nd: Drops are based on time and moon cycle. some ppl wait with alliance for long time for key, some short time, it happens. Full moon good drops. MAINLY you want to be killing them at a fast rate having the most opertunity for drops.if your killing them slow(especially if you go at a time bad for drops) you can kill them for hours n hours n not get drop. this coffer key is not harder to get then any other coffer key.

got this last night. In previously reading the posts here on the drop rate of the key I had prepared myself to be there for a looong time, most post saying hours. luckily, our first key dropped within 27 minutes. score. we went and found the coffer in the monastic cavern then and within 10 minutes found it, so it took me around 45 minutes total to get my hunter's jerkin. Another person in the party needed a key as well so we went back to killing orcs; within 20 minutes another key dropped. So, mabye the drop rate changed, or we just got really lucky, just my two cents.

this key suxx. we need 4 hours with a alliance to get 1 key ! but now iam pimped :P
Alot of pieces equipment for ranger are considered optional(everything from leaping boots to emp pin to noct+1, ebow, obow, etc..) but this item is not optional. Anyone over level 58 w/o this item is just a gimp to the pt no matter what else you have equipped. There is no other singular item in the game with this much +R.acc (save certain rings that come ~13ish levels later, which you'll be using anyway) and don't kid yourself, you need it(sidewinder anyone?). I know it's a pain in the *** to get the key for this coffer(it took nearly 3 hours for my pt), but I strongly recommend you do. (Also, while trying to get the key you can get a ranger's testimony for later use on the 70 genkai). Good luck..

key to this piece of equip can be a pain, got 2 in 3hrs, i dont recommend being tired when starting this, it'll get rough. The coffer itself is an easy pop, noone ever seems to be there.

This is not really a *quest*.
To get it you have to have completed ranger af1 (aka bow of suck) and have the quest of af2 at least activated(Boghert'z chasing hands).
And I strongly propose to try it only once you hit 57-58 if you don't wanna be a burden to the kind people that will accompany you.
I've been told getting a key to drop is super hard but getting the coffer itself is super easy.
(I'd have preffered it to be the other way around but hey... >.<)

how does this compare to the shikaree aketon? im wondering if its worth questing for that thing if its only good for 8 levels

I personally would also opt for this. +10 Ranged accuracy is quite substantial, and like Omegaphoenix said, this remains the prefrence even end game. The biggest items that I see on RNGs are the AF Body, War Akenton, and Kirini's Osode. I don't think I'll be taking the AF Body off until I get the Osode, but then again, I don't think I'll be getting the Osode, so I don't think I'll be taking it off, period. hehe.
I think you'd want this on to help with you Slug Shot/Sidewinder, as it's a highly inaccurate WS, but quite powerful. The more accurate, the better. Anyways, good luck to you, whatever you decide!

eh slugshot and sidewinder accuracy are based on the TP you have when you fire it off.
100 TP is less accurate than 200 TP, and so on.

yeah, that's very true. What's nice though, is that with this on and more ranged acc, you can risk using slug shot/sidewinder without having a lot of tp built up.
personally i would use this, and honestly i have yet to see a rng wear anything but this, even levels 75;s still wear this most of the time. it just depends on your preference.

well im a ninja but i love the ranger gear but the main reason i played this game is for ninja.And AF stands for Artifact Armor
How does it enhance Camouflage? Makes it last longer?

O just hit 30 with monk and just started ranger a I make alot of gil so it wont be any trouble

Almost all AF1 body armor is level 58, thus it's probably found in a treasure coffer. The last AF quest is usually for the level 60 piece (exception White Mage), and is given only after you finish AF2. The treasure coffer is found in the Monastic Cavern, but the key also drops off the higher davoi mobs. Found 4 coffer keys in 2 hours, once i had the key, chest took me 3 minutes -.- No fame is needed for AF quests, and rangers should be happy they get this one, cauz it's über easy XD

I'm nowhere near being the level needed for my AF but i'm just curious as to where the AF quest is started and how much fame is needed.
If you're STARTING to become a Ranger, this information won't be useful to you for quite some time.

Hey...just so you know, you must be level 30 to obtain the quest. The quest is given in the mithra groves section of windurst (woods i believe)... i forget the npc's name, but she is on a throne, surrounded by other mithra. hope this help.

He meant you need lv 30 to unlock ranger.
