Moth Axe
Its only 10k at Bastok on Lakshmi server.
According to the price and closeness to Neckbreaker, I'm just going to duck it out with my Greataxe until I hit lvl 20 for the Neckbreaker. MothAxe doesn't really look appealing.

...but there's no debate as to whether or not you should have this axe pre-Neckchopper. If you're a DD (and, as a WAR, you should be!) you want this axe.
It's tempting to justify passing on it (only 2 more damage and a slightly lower delay? Bah!), but when you're in the Dunes this puppy and a PT with a WHM will be your best friends. The 2 points of damage and the lower delay obviously mean you'll be hitting a bit harder and faster, but this weapon's real power lies in the +1 Dex. If you like landing criticals on mobs (and who doesn't?) at low-levels, you want a higher Dex.
From my (limited) experience on Remora, this Axe sells for 5-6k in Windhurst (since, y'know, it's found a stone's throw from there) and Jeuno as opposed to 15-20k in Bastok or San D'oria. So make nice with someone in your LS, send them the gil and start using this sweet looking axe.
Or any G. axe, for the love of God. If I see one more WAR with a sword and shield...

Damn decent axe for level's 16-18.
i wouldnt buy this axe. at least if damage dealing is what u do. if u notice it is not much stronger than a great axe. why waste the gil?
Do you realize what you said is incredibly retarded? If you're a DD war using GA you want as much base dmg as possible because it will lead to higher dmg hits and bigger dmg weapon skills. Lower delay than a Greataxe+1 so you end up swinging 9/60ths of a second faster(it adds up). You would spend the money on this to be as good as u can be. It's not that expensive of a weapon, and if it is you can easily just go to horototo ruins and open a chest to get one.
Because, unless you can find/afford a Neckchopper or Plantbane, this weapon will be the best you can get until lv. 30 or so. There isn't much in the way or Great Axe weaponry at the lower levels.
Also...it has less delay (great axe i believe has 502 delay) and 2 more dmg. Plus, you can't go wrong w/ DEX +1.
i suggest geeting this wepon if ur lvl 16-18! the cost is cheap (only 5k on Pandemonium serever in AH) the dex bonus also helps out! the only downfall is the weapon skills (sheild break-lowers def of enemy but lowers ur evasion... iron tempest-does little dmg)

Yes, Shield Break lowers evasion. And it's this fact that makes it the ONLY lv10 weaponskill that will see use through the entire game, all the way to level 75. Don't be fooled by the only-decent damage on this WS, it's the best thing you can have. Save it to open a fight with and every melee in your party will love you.

I think what he was posting about what that the original poster said it lowered the users defense not the enemies. Which from what I understand there is no weapon skill that has any negative effects to the player.
opened the ruins chewst 4 times, gotten 3 axes, its not that rare. and sadly it doesnt sell often, so went for ~1200 to an NPC each time. still decent money for such little time spent hunting.

This is found in the treasure chest of the Inner Horuto Ruins(sp). You go down the path with the Beady Beetles and Bat Batallions and follow it the whole way back to the big square room (on the map).
Don't go in the square room though, go past it and there is a tunnel on your right that leads to a room with 2 Blobs in it and a treasure chest that spawns in the middle of the room.
Kill the Gobs, Blobs and Beetles around that area for the Key to the chest.
The chest is a 24 hour to 1 week spawn. The contents are random and the Axe is the rare. I got it on my first try.

There are also 2 more chest spawn spots if you proceed through the Magic Gate of Horutoto. There is a 'Cracked Wall' on the west side of that room with all the Goblins. I get this axe about 1 in 4 chests. I usually sell to vendor since they sell very slow at AH.
Also when he says 24hours to one week spawn that is gametime not RL...much closer to 24hours. If you dont find the chest in there within 1 hour (RL) the chest is probably spawned in one of the other ruins. The chest also spawns in the SW tower in W Saru.
