I bought a pair of these from the auction house and I must say...I am so pissed I did. WTH are they for? Ok, you say diabolos? If im sleep anywhere near diabolos I have bio, and my avatar and everyone in the vicinity is about to pumped in the rear by diabolos, and you want me to lower my avatar's perpetuation cost? K. I wear them, when im in a town or in my mog house, I don't know what else they are good for, But ill keep them to wear with other outfits, like the af hands....

ummm did anyone think the usage could maybe be if you have your avatar out and you get slept pretty bad and your not getting woken up anytime soon, so you just put these on and you won't be losing as much mp when you're not able to do anything? that's just a thought and i'd have to say that it's probably right... or at least a good idea
Yea, 1 mp a tick is SO worth being asleep not being able to heal or tlel ur pet to use BPs... SE kinda messed this up o.O
The latent must suck, seeing how the price on Sylph went from 3 mil straight to 100k...
I've heard people say it's activated by being asleep; tell your pet to assault, sleep pot yourself, it's no longer as expensive (pathetic, I know) to let your avatar build TP, which we all know SE wants us to do. If not, I'm sure there's a reason why it's available to a large number of jobs than just SMN and why the DEF on it is horrible next to other 70+ gloves...

Happily, that's not entirely true. The sucking part is, but not the part about being the best~ Nashira Gages from Proto-Ultima have -1 perpetuation all the time... day, night, awake, asleep, etc. I'd call those the best a SMN can get if you're looking for -perpetuation in your stats.
I can't imagine that the intent was for you to actually sleep pot yourself to use these; can SE be that strange in their thinking? I'm hoping they had another practical usage in mind... I just can't think of what.

Hmmm... it's a SHEEP!!
It'll "Sheep Song" you all the time... happened other night whole party kept getting slept except for the tank.
The only good (bad?) thing is that the NM keeps dropping its fleas every few minutes (g-damned Chigoes) and they just decide to attack whoever is nearest usually. They don't bother the tanks/DD people since they can usually kill them in 2-3 hits, but if they go for one of the mages, then better have a Cure or Curaga spell handy to wake them all to help.
So, we have a mob that'll sleep AoE, and drops an item that depends on you sleeping for its full benefits... that sounds logical enough... for SquEnix at least.

Except if you are slept and your avatar is out, you can simply put on a sacrifice torque and break the sleep. If it doesn't work, it's probably because you have stoneskin up.
