Does the Pigeon earring +1 have some kind of hidden effect? I'm trying to figure out why anyone in their right mind would pay 3 million for a +1 that gives 5 more HP and 2 more wind, versus the regular version for 300k.

In HNM paladin's best friend is HP. Something that gives +25 is insanely good. I believe this is the next best thing to a Cassie's Earring.
