I was honored to be 1st PLD in my dyna ls to recieve the mantle. I belong to dyna ls DynaFFS and we wear the title "Lifter of Shadows". We have beat Dark Lord twice in 3 weeks now, got mantle both times and ring once. If on Fairy server can also find the mantle on fellow PLD Killua and the ring on our main assist Marien.
As far as % of 0's is all speculation, would put more in 10% - 12% range though. Agree that may be many hits between 0's but never more than 12 although at times it may seem like 50 ^^ have also had 6/7 zero's and wearing it in 2nd DL battle took no damage. Also the use of Sentinal seems to greatly increase the %.

I'd place it around 6 or 7%. I've seen it proc around 10% a few times fighting Tiamat over the course of 90 mins. However, just like many things in this game, it can be very sporadic and spotty. You might go 50 hits without a proc. Or might go 3 in a row.
Personally, I've never taken off my shadow mantle on PLD since I got it. I could see /NIN not using it. However, I can't tell you the number of times the mantle proc-ed while casting Ichi. But, if you are PLD/NIN to a lot of things, there are better options, especially now since shield blocks with this new patch today "should" allow PLD to be uninterrupted when casting shadows.
The real nice thing about a shadow mantle is that it is an extra line of defense. After your evasion/parry/shadows/shield block checks, you get a free 5% (or whatever it might be) chance to nullify it. No other piece of gear can do that.

Can't wait to see one drop for my LS. Over the course of over half a year, starting the LS from the ground up, we've managed to finally tackle Dynamis Lord twice over the past few months, falling him to 70% then 50%. Crappy luck we must have, because the 2nd run we had over 40 people, and he decides to do multiple back to back knockback AOE, causing some melee WS to be nulled.
All in all, this is an item of LS teamwork and cohesiveness. Saying this only benefits YOU is very self-centered and narrowminded to say the least.

I would expect to hear something like this from a noob, not someone with so many lvl 75 jobs but I guess common sense doesn't have anything to do with what level you are. As much as I want to be: "ZOMFG RDM FTW, we pwn j00!" I have to say that I would pass on this mantle until ALL LS tanks have it... Sure, it would help me out if I'm going to try to go Avesta style and solo HNMS... but that doesn't help the whole LS much. Having a Pld wearing this is infinitely more useful to the LS. You have to think about people other than yourself (I know that's hard for a lot of rdms).
I wish I saw this orginal post somewhere. If RDM can solo all that stuff then they don't need it. Can't believe he said pld can't solo normal nms. I think a lvl 75 PLD has a good chance of soloing leaping lizzie (yeah I'm being stupid).

Hmm, interesting opinion from a 75 PLD..only PLD can use effectively? uhh dont mean to be an *** but id have to disagree, the shadow nullify damage would be great for any job that regularly takes dmg or tanks, not just pld. and considering that the +20VIT is only good for ONE day of the vanadiel week i think that saying this item is only good for PLD would be quite stupid...no offense Nephew

Ppl like you make LS fall into piece because your so gready. Like I said think about the LS not your ******* i n g self. This mantle on a PLD which always tank will help your LS more then on a ******* i n g NIN that uses it for 1/10 of its capacity.
If your LS leader is stupid enough to let everyone lot on this item, then yes I would quit the LS. If your LS gives this to anyone other then your main PLD tank first, you should quit that LS while your at it. Only the ppl going into dynamis all the time as PLD should have lots on this item. What good is this mantle gonna be on anything else for your LS? NINs can't take full avantage of the mantle since it won't proc when shadows are up. And NINs rarely tank in dynamis anyway. But if you give this to your main PLD tank, then its going to make your dynamis LS that much more powerfull. And will make DL that much easier to kill, thus getting more mantles. You got to think about the priority of the LS and not of the leader or yourself.

I understand that this would be great for PLD during any occasion, Dynamis included, but EVERYBODY who partook in taking DL down should get lot on this. It's just one of those "So cool a great LS like this can have fun taking down mobs like this and having people get really good equips".

If you give this to some DD or Mage because he/she took part in the DL kill, you give him/her an item that he will almost never equip because it does not help him doing his job at all. (Imagine a WHM (mage) or a SAM (DD) wearing this in Exp, HNM, Sky, Dynamis, etc etc...)
Now think about PLDs in the same situations...
[Same goes for the Shadow Ring~ even more since it can stop Magic damages, whom PLDs are weak to]

My linkshell leader has this, they killed Dynamis Lord this week, first NA kill on Siren. Unfortunately it doesn't activate anything like the Joyeuse. It's roughly 5-10% of the time, something like that. Still an awesome back piece when you figure that's minus 5-10% damage taken.

Lol you have way less to kill dynamsis lord, 1 hour = I wish, try more liek 10 minutes since, if Ying and Yang spawn back up, ur dead. Their on a 10 min repop timer if I remeber right, 18 Thundaga 3's take out approx 40% of his life.
Ying and Yang are summoned by the Dynamis Lord, but that's it. No they're not on repop timers. In fact, I'm not really aware of ANYTHING in Dynamis being on a repop TIMER. Now, there's plenty of mobs that pop/repop on a trigger, ie killing a specific other key mob, but that's it as far as I know.

Dynamis Lord summons Ying and Yang during the fight, but I'm unaware of them repopping as you said. FantasyForever on Siren got him today and when he died his summons did too. We hung around for at least 10 minutes after taking screenshots and tried the animated longbow, nothing repopped on the hill.

I was told by a friend that a PLD on Siren got this Mantle. IF so, then congo-rats to him, may be the first on Siren to get it!

I'm on Siren too and I just saw a japanese PLD named Sassyboy with it on his back. Pretty cool as mantle, no?

we get to DL with about 30 minutes left on the timer and the fight takes about 60 seconds if done right, Ying and Yang spawned and we still won. 10 minute repop timer would make it easy to kill him. it looks to me like its maybe a certain time into battle with the big guy. 10 minutes would have never had them pop on us.
