I dont know but the +att seems to make up for alot of the damage difference and these hidden affect weapons are known to have more than just +att and the higher damage. The low delay would also make it easier to build TP and DoT. For the price this item is a total deal. I think I might use this for Dynamis where I am trying to dump TP as fast as possible and use Penta-thrust alot. I would love to see a parser done on this polearm.
It's either this, or the Wyvern Spear +1. And the Wyvern Spear don't have any latents. Just +3 base damage. w/o the latent, of course.
But I think the Love Spear would challenge this.

yeah its not worth the trouble, seeing as you get Dreizack 1 level earlier and you get more benefits from it. as for SAM's i'd assume that there are better weapons...one would hope so anyways.
No hidden effect, and the latent is activated the same way that latents are removed from trial weapons. Only, all of the new weapons like this require 500 points from skillchains, as opposed to 300 for trial weapons.
No that is a different set of latent effect weapons that have +6% critical hit. The Gondo-Shizunori is the polearm weapon of that type. It's rare/ex and obtained from a kindred seal 30 battle.
This on the other hand is one of the new ENM drops.(Stonespliter, maneater, onikiri, wagh bagnacks and Blau Dolch) These weapons have a hidden latent effect that activates along with the latent increased dmg. You get +22 attack for stonespliter when under 100% tp AND during weapon skills and there's a good chance that it has a accuracy bonus as well and it's just that nobody has tested it to see(I know maneater has a acc bonus since I've got one and checked it myself)
So basically you get the latent effects as long as you don't sit on unused tp, then the weapons becomes weaker.
Of these new weapons though, this one looks like the worst of them because it's a spear type weapon instead of a lancetype and the damage is a weak even with the latent active. Might do good damage over time with just regular attacks, but ws would suffer greatly.

This has been tested on the Wag Banghas and you do get the Atk bonus (for the banghas) durring the WS. so I assume you do get the acc bonus for the maneater.
just a guess...perhaps it does more dmg to earth elemental mobs (hence the name "Stone Splitter")?
Meh... it's decent for Sam. A lot are better. It would be interesting to see if it has some unshown effect.
I wonder if this has any hidden effects. If not it seems to be a poor shoice for DRG at this level. Mabey Samuri can put it to better use. I'm not sure, i dont really pay attention to weither SAM can use the high level lances
