Rather equip the torque before casting a spell so its casting time is done 100% with the torque on.
/equip neck "Willpower Torque" /ma "Utsusemi: Ichi" <me> /wait 6 (or whatever time it needs to cast) /equip neck "Spike Necklace"
Spell interruption -5% itself doesn't do much like someone mentioned before. But it's like MP+ equipment, if you got some more it stacks and makes a difference.
I think this item would be best for a NIN. You could put this in a macro even and switch it in when your casting Utsusemi and when it's done casting switch it out to your other neck peice. I don't think 5% tho will make a major difference, but I do however think it will be useful in a macro ^^
Having -10 or 15 spell interuption (that katana with -10%) will make no differance when killing IT mobs. Used katana for a few levels got interuped every time I was hit. better to have +evad to chance at missing attack.
not so sure bout that i know when i tank IT's as nin least round 20% of the time i cast i don't get interupted (w/no items equiped that prevent interuption). so i say every little bit helps.
the problem with having a switch armor/utsusemi macro is that when you cast utsusemi:ichi/ni, it is a split second decision, to see how many shadows you still have up. its hard to do that when you have /waits in the macro. but then again, i am only a 20 nin; i dont even know if you need /waits in the macro ~.O
instead of /telling yourself, try the /echo command example /echo Hello World! returns a gold color line of text (in default): Hello World! only you can see it, and you're saved from seeing You>>Utsusemi Ready! You<<Utsusemi Ready!
/wait 45 only works if you don't use any other macros in the mean time. The best thing to do is to put /recast "Utsusemi:Ichi" /ma "Utsusemi:Ichi" <stpc> /equip neck "Willpower Torque" <me>
This allows you to push once on the macro to see how long you have left in recast, and if the cd is up, then you can click again to equip the neck and proceed casting. That way you're not spamming utsusemi macro when it's not up, and changing around gear that's not needed yet.
You do not need a /wait if you want to /equip something while casting a spell, only after using a job ability. (I have tons of /equip macros, the joys of being a Red Mage.)

Exactly.
Personally, I did the quest and got the item as part of an 'emergency' macro that I use when my shadows are down and I'm trying to get the back up while being interrupted. This macro equips in several other things including EVA in places I'd normally like ACC or STR.
