General Information

• Timed spawn among the Maritime Peiste in the area of (J-11) in Abyssea-Misareaux

• Respawn time is approximately 10-15 minutes after its last Time of Death.

• Immune to Blind. Susceptible to Stun, Slow, and Paralysis.

• Guaranteed Drops - Sanguine Spike

Gukumatz's Special Attacks

• Delta Strike - Single target three-hit physical damage with an additional Plague effect.

• Aqua Fortis - Single target Water based magic damage with additional Knockback and Poison effects.

• Regurgitation - AoE Water based magic damage with additional Knockback and Bind effects (Circle of effect originates from mob target)

• Grim Glower - Frontal cone AoE Gaze Petrification and Enmity reset effects.

• During the duration of Grim Glower, Gukumatz's eyes will glow a bright orange.

• Gukumatz will occasionally use Grim Glower immediately following Regurgitation.

Historical Information

In K'iche Mayan mythology, Q'uq'umatz (also spelled Qucumatz, Gukumatz, Gucumatz, Gugumatz, Kucumatz) was a feathered-serpent god of rain and wind who was said to have created humanity alongside the god Tepeu. It is roughly analogous to the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl and the Yucatan Maya deity Kukulkan. According to the Popol Vuh, the creation epic of the K'iche people, Q'uq'umatz was responsible for carrying the sun across the sky during the day and down into the underworld at night.
