Mission Orders

The Professor consents to lend you her aid, but as expected, there's a price to be paid. Within a Cardian in the Outer Horutoto Ruins lies the reagent she does seek; return it to her, that you might avert a fate most bleak!

Walkthrough

In this quest, you will have to defeat Cardians in Outer Horutoto Ruins. Spawn the Cardians by checking a ??? in the on an Ancient Magical Gizmo right across from the entrance if you enter from (H-3) in East Sarutabaruta. In order for them to spawn, you must have at least one of these key items Orb of Batons, Orb of Cups, Orb of Coins, or Orb of Swords. The key items drop from any regular Cardian that shares the name of the orb. The more of the orbs you have when you check the ???, the easier the fight. Once you defeat all of the Cardians spawned by checking the ???, you will obtain the key items Ripe Starfruit and Peach Coral Key.

Return to Shantotto in Windurst Walls. She will demand 5000 gil. You have to pay her to continue. If you tell her no, you have to leave the zone and come back to talk to her again. Once you pay her the 5000 gil, she will tell you to meet her in Jeuno. Check the "Inconspicuous Door" in Upper Jeuno at (H-8) to finish the mission.

This was a very easy fight, I had all four orbs and soloed as 70RDM/35BLM. Only 5 Custom Cardigans poped and with Sleepga was able to pick them off one at a time. Only took 2 or 3 mins.

This was a very easy fight. Obviously, one of the first things you should do before engaging the Custom Cardians is to collect some orbs. These orbs are key items and will not be found in your inventory once they are obtained but will be in your temporary key items. Collecting these orbs does take some time. The best place I found to farm these orbs is by entering the Outer Horutoto Ruins from(H-3)in East Sarutabaruta. Don't bother with the low tier Cardians but instead focus on the Three of Batons, Three of Cups, Three of Coins, and the Three of Swords. These mobs can be found behind the doors and the cracked wall in the aforementioned section of the Outer Horutoto Ruins. After approximately one hour of farming, I only received only three of the four orbs: Orb of Cups, Orb of Coins, and Orb of Swords. I then popped the Custom Cardians, and I believe approximately 10 popped. I fought them as RDM80/NIN40 with full buffs and a pro-ether just in case. The fight took maybe four to five minutes.

Thinking this would be easy, as this page offers no hints that this fight has specific requirments, we went as pld/rdm and dnc/nin.... two perfectly good jobs capable of soloing, and or duoing pretty much anything. well, much to our delight <insert mass amount of sarcasm here> found out that each of the orbs actually causes certain things to happen.... like say doing DAMAGE! popped them having only the orb of swords and my daggers are doing 0 damage... my first thought is WTF, all my hubby had on him was joytoy... so no tp means dancer cant do anything, no slashing means pally can't get tp... needless to say we had to run away and redo....so here you go, taken from wiki, hope it helps and happy hunting...

lol, i should have mentioned i used Organics as my weapon (slashing weapon) when i went in with orb of swords. It was pretty easy with that.

um wow i just got owned...there are 5 Custom Cardians and it is has a Level Restriction..thats all i know so far.

Wow, some fierce competition for Cardians in Outer Horutoto Ruins. You'd think these guys were Gil with wings or something.

Anyway, if it's too hectic at the (H-3) East Sarutabaruta Tower...remember, there is a tower with Cardians in it in West Sarutabaruta (F-11).
