does this spell work only aginst the spell slow, or will it work against other earth elements like sticky thread?

There is some debate over whether it works on TP moves that give status effects. I personally believe it does work, but I do not have solid evidence.

Bar spells give an increased chance to resist an element or effect. Even with a strong Bar-element spell, you may still get the full effects of the spell, or you can partially resist (it won't last as long) or fully resist. Some TP moves cannot be fully resisted (Poison Breath, Sticky Thread are two), so it is unclear whether Barstonra will reduce the length of slow or not. If your WHM has Erase, it shouldn't be a problem, unless you are xping on Spiders (AoE slow sucks).

I see it under the WHM spells but in the description it says RDM lvl 5 for barstonra? So is it a WHM spell?

Barstonra (and all other bar-ra spells) are WHM only. However, in the Auction House, spells are divided into White and Black magic. RDM spells are found in both. As a general rule of thumb, if it does damage or harms the monster, it is Black magic, and if it helps the target or heals them, it is White magic. The obvious exceptions to this are the Dia and Banish lines, along with Slow and Paralyze.

Some examples of RDM spells and where you would find them in the AH:

Barstone - White Magic
Enstone - White Magic
Paralyze - White Magic
Sleep - Black Magic
Gravity - Black Magic
Fire - Black Magic

You're looking at Barstone, not Barstonera.
If you're searching at the AH try looking further down the list. I made the same mistake.
Notes about Bar-spells

You can only have one elemental resistance spell working at any time. That is, you can have Bar-Stonra *or* Bar-Fira in effect but not both. Whatever is the latest Bar-Element spell cast on your party is what is working.

To see this for yourself, cast a Bar-Stonra - go to Equipment (the stats for elemental resistance are there, right under where your DEF score is). You should see something around 50 resistance to earth. Now cast Bar-Aera (or Bar-Watera, or Bar-Fira) and you will see that your resistance to earth is lower and the other element is higher.

The Bar-element spells are stackable with other kinds of resistance (e.g. Bar-Paralyzra, Bar-Sleepra) etc

I found it in the Jeuno Scroll shop going for under 200gil along with a ton of other bar spells.

Question how do you use the Bar line of spells?

Cast it on yourself and it will give the effect to all party members in range.
