i have a question about amount of hate pulled. i know you can use cure II after lvl 11, but when do you start useing it like you use cure I in the dunes. in other words when does it become a low hate spell? p.s. in qufim i am getting a heck of alot of hate with cure II do i need to just spam cure I till a higher lvl or what?
okay, I have a 21rdm/8whm, right now I'm working on the whm so i'm at 8whm/4rdm. When my whm gets to lvl 11, will I be able to cast cureII without having to buy it again? I learned it when my rdm skill was at 14.
In a rather deadly bout of keyboard dislexia I inadvertantly cast cure II on a skeleton in Ran Tomb...upon scrolling back through the fight I noticed that it caused 45 damage to the skeleton.
Upon further testing i can say that it does indeed damage undead. I tried Divine seal prior to a cure II on an undead and it didnt double the damage dealt <sigh>.
Cure II is pretty great. At lvl 11 when I got it, the spell restored 62HP to a fellow teamate at a cost of 24mp. It's great for heals that give back a lot of HP instantly. However, compare that with Cure which restores 26HP at a cost of 8mp and its clear that regular Cure is more economical. In short, Cure II is best used for emergencies or when you find someone who is about to die in a tough fight. Otherwise, use regular Cure as much as possible since it is more cost efficient. I'm in Bastok and it can be bought from the Sororo Scribe and Notary in the Market area.
Once you get higher levels, and skill levels, cure and cure II will do 30 and 90 respectively. (except on light day ~ +10% (not sure if dark day affects it)). So once your skill level is up, they are equal in MP efficiency.
Its also handy to set up a bank of /magic "Cure" <p#> macros where # is the number of the party member you want to cure (with you as 0). e.g. /magic "Cure" <p0> will Cure you and /magic "Cure" <p2> will Cure the 3rd member in your party (you are the 1st). This allows you to heal party members while your engaged in combat without having to switch targets.
When making Macros you have to have the name and spelling exact so better to hit "tab" key wile typeing the macro and select it from the list. As a bonus effect if you make a Macro such as "/p Casting Cure on <t>" and use "Cure" from the "Tab" list then it will come out in english for you but Japanese for those with Japanese version of FFXI.
i've found that you don't need the <t>...as long as you've targeted a player or non player, it will cast fine...i don't use <t> in any of my macros and never had a problem...excepting when i forget a target :)
hey try /ma "Cure II" <stpc> it does not target monsters....palyers only so you will not end up curing mobs or tabing through all the 1000 mobs and players on your screen....just a suggestion
quelpia is the name of the npc merchant who sells white magic scrolls in selbina. she is located between the weaver's and fishermen's guilds under the small bridge which connects them.
cure ii is there and it is just under 700g as was reported previously.
