I can also attest that this is not a recast of protect abnd shell. THis is a percentage based protect and shell boost.
I as a 52 rdm/26smn gained 21 def points from this starting at 224 and going to 245 after shining ruby. my def w/o protect is 184
where as a 52 Pal who had 460 def w defender and other buffs gained 31 so the accuracy of what def boosts are used in the calculations are not exact though it is definately worth the trouble once u get into later levels...though with a 2 min timer before it drops,its usefulness is hurt in that a smn has other buffs to cast too
and as a rdm i mostly dont have all that much time to stop and cast carbuncle to use this buff
With that said though i would think that this would be a great buff to throw up at the beginning of a chain or at the least as a second buff after blinkga.. though in mid-20's mandies make airial armor useless anyway so this would be a much better use for mobs that tend to eat thru blink quickly.

Shining Ruby - 44 MP - Lvl 24 Carbuncle Blood pact
From what I have discovered, this lasts for about 2 mins. From what I have calcualted, I am pretty sure that this adds 10% defense to all party members in the area of effect. This 10% boost is applied AFTER all other buffs I think.
With Protect III, my defense is 251. When I cast Shining Ruby, it becomes 276 (251+25=276). I have also asked party members how much defense they got, and it seems to confirm the 10% added bonus.

Well this seems to be a slightly weaker verison of protect and shell I guess but good to know it stacks with protect and shell.

This effect is called Shining Ruby and not Ruby Radiance.
Name is Ruby Radiance. Stacks with Protect / Shell buffs.

At lvl 24 it adds +8 Defense points to each player in the party. I assume it adds +8 points to Magic resistance also though Im not sure where in status sheet to check current magic resist.
Costs 44 mana.. I have a hard time validating it's use in current Qufim parties. I'm usually and preferably considered a Damage dealer and not a healer in groups so I dont use carbuncle much.

This has no useful info but out of all the FF's that involve carbuncle well all I can remember are 8 and 9 this is how I remember Carbuncle I wanna see the effects look
Carbuncle was also a summon in FFV, he gave the whole party reflect, also.
Carbuncle was also an esper in FFVI (I think he gave the whole party reflect, or something like that)

i'm a Elvaan 12smn/6wht level 27 Sum skill and can't get this ... i do have Poison and heal but not this why?

You need to be a lvl 24 SMN, but have a summoning skill of 24.
