quest for tonko ichi. But thats it in Norg. I was told the 104 zinc ores would do it. GL not cheap. had to pay 500 to 700 each. (lakshmi)

many people have reported having to bring drastically different numbers of yag necklaces to achieve their desired fame. just be careful that you are not fighting yourself. make sure you have completed getting your fame in other cities first. or if you try to do the easy selbina quest "only the best" to raise fame in jueno, basty, and sandy and turn in boyahda moss it will lower your just earned norg fame. so make sure you are not raising your fame levels of different cities at the same time. get jueno done first.

Okay, here goes:
Norg Fame level: 4
Rice Ball price at Tenshodo in L. Jeuno: 153g
Yesterday: Triggered quest, went to ??? place in Sea Serpent Grotto, got cutscene with Gen or whoever(Ghost ninja?), obtained Key Item: Sea Serpent Statue, went back to Norg (via deathwarp), talked to Lasirean (Quest Giver), no cutscene, nothing received, didn't even acknowledge what i did. Zoned out and back in, still nothing.
Today: Checked with Lasirean again, nothing new, so went back to Giddeus, got 24 more necklaces, warped back to Norg, talked to Lasirean, still nothing. Just for the heck of it, zoned back out, came back in, still nothing. Checked fame level again, still level 4 fame. Turns out I ended up receiving Leviathan quest for SMN and tuning fork of water.
So, any ideas?

after obtaining 203 yag necklaces i went to norg and tried to get quest and was not able to. i started out will no fame in norg. i checked my fame after the 203 and told me if i keep up the good work people will start recognized me. well after i picked up what pride i had leaft i went back and obtained 24 more yag necklaces and turned them in. i went back to norg and was able to complete the quest. so with 227 necklace and started with 0 fame i was able to get quest. now i am a proud owner of Utsusemi Ichi.

rice balls costs 155 for me and in somepage is says that i should be getting the quest anytime soon since its more or less almost under fame 5 .....do i get the quest? no....he just babbles like a usual npc.....what does the fame npc say: i remember you your mich....no wait fearme(my char) and blahblah ...its so frustrating

i hava war lvl 50 subbing mnk 25 and i think i need to change but im prolly the most poor person i hav 381gil and i cant afford this spell.....and by all the talk tht nin arent even good tankers then i think tht i dont even need this spell then if im war and i every time i hava war/nin in my pt no one wants them to tank so plz can sum1 tell me if i rly actully need this?

why does everyone seem to think that nin is a tank god? to be honest, theyre not that great. they cant keep hate, they take uber damage when their shadows are down, plus, to be one, u have to have huge sacks of gil... (On a side note, i was kicked from a pt today, because i didnt have /war. they said, and i quote, "I hate ppl who think that they have a choice, or that in MMOs theres room for creativity or originality.)

I hate those ppl, whats the point of having a huge fantasy world if all everone dose is wine about exp/stats/equp/job and sub-job? what happend to fun and living Final Fantasy as our own chr's? if I go on I'll have a 500 word post on the wrong bored ^^;
I kinda agree with the Nin not being that great. (75 Pld 50 Nin here).
/war is a great subjob for all melee jobs. If you are a sub 60 Drk/Sam/Mnk/Pld/Nin/ you really need to have the job leveled. It's so annoying when playing with a Sam/Thf or a Drk/Thf and you try to SATA setup with a Thf/Nin and can't because the Sam/Thf has a level 4 Warrior subjob. If you don't have it adequetly leveled and you are a Melee, you are not doing your party any favors.

A few things i'd like to put out there.
1. As far as I know, fame will affect prices immediately, though how many are purchased on one day will only affect the price they are on the next game day. On the same game day, I made 6 more turn-ins and and the zinc twice. then i checked the price before the game day was over and it dropped to 152, and it was then that i could get my quest. So you can use rice balls as a guage, just not over the course of several game days, I think.

Until my very last 6 turn-ins, she would say something about a stone she was examining. after my last set of turnins, she said something else. I don't remember exactly what, but it might just be a sign that you made a higher level of fame.

How many shadows does this actually give you? From the description it sounds like only one; so I would guess that it's similar to Third Eye for SAM.
It gives you three shadows.
Utsu: Ni gives you 4, or 3 if you're /nin sub, with deliberately difference recast and cast times.

Got all quests except Utsusemi (of course, the only one I really want...) and Hojo with the price of rice balls sitting at 163g. Traded in 112 yag necklaces; never done the zinc quest or the sneaking-past-customs quest.
And to unlock Jubaku you must have a Damp Scroll in your possession. You can have all the fame you want, you won't get the quest unless you have that. ^^

I am trying to do the quest for Utsu, and friends of mine have told me that I should only need to farm about 200 yag necklaces...
I've turned in about 224 and Laisrean only talks about the odd things that remind him of the diverse world.
I have very little or no fame in bastok (if that matters.) I have done the Ninja flag quest but thats about it for Norg related stuff.
Where can I check the riceball price? and what else might i have to do?

Ok to sum up:
Zinc Ore = 0.5g - from Rice Ball price.
Yagudo Necklace = 0.25 - from Rice Ball Price.
Airship Smuggling = 0.75 - from Rice Ball Price.
Utsusemi Ichi can be obtained at 159g each.
BUT you need to have done Tonko, Kurayama, Dokumori, Jabaku, Hojo...
(This is how i did mine, couldnt get quest until i had all others, Checked Rice Ball price before ending Utsusemi Quest (159g)
Personally i think the Zinc Ore quest is by far the most worth-while, loads of fame for minimum effort, all worms around the world drop zinc ores, with TH1 they can drop more than 1 a time so i farmed them in korroloka tunnel.
I wouldnt try doing the Airship Smuggling quest from San d'oria because you can have your Airship Boarding License revoked for 24 hours RL (which absolutely sucks unless you aren't intending on partying in the next 24 hours) but you can try take the risk if you want, the quest is pretty much random on getting through customs (arrivals entrance door) without getting caught. but you will need rank 5 or 500k to burn (Airship Pass sold in Lower Jeuno Map stall for 500.000 gil)

P.S: FYI to my lv60DRK some of the mobs down in sea serpent's grotto up to the ??? for utsusemi quest appear as easy prey (non agro) so if your below that, silent oils are a good thing to have, especialy seeing as 3 Sea Bonze's (lv47-50) pop in the ??? room.

Let me state for the record that in order to get the Tonko quest, Riceball price should be in the 158-157 area, for Utsusemi quest, get it to 152 just to be sure, b/c when i went @ 153, it still wasn't enough, so I had to do the "Like shining Leggings" quest there in Norg, Not fun or cheap. Yag necklaces are the best, i did 104 yag necklaces and around 28-32 or so Zinc ores.
For the Utsusemi quest, please remember to get your Pots of Sneak Oil. I used 4 and barely got by, save yourself the trouble and get 5 just in case... the Sahagins down there show you no mercy
I would also like to state for the record that Ninja job is NOT CHEAP, I repeat, NOT CHEAP! If you plan on leveling this one, be ready to pay up for powders like "Uchitake" and "Kawahori-Ogi" both running for 15k-20k here in Hades.
Other than that, Enjoi... ^_^

I started lvling warrior and i got thf and monk to 30 already so all i need to do is lvl ninja to about that lvl its only 10 now, but i spent 2 days getting yag.necklaces and got the riceball price of 155 and talked to Laisrean and didnt get the quest. can some one help me?

well, its done. LS leader said i should go to promy-mea as war/nin. i've been stuck at 12 nin cuz i didnt want to quest this. so i did it, 7hrs.
47drg/23war and 31blm/15whm went to giddeus. i went into lower caves where Zhuue and that Iron guy NMs pop (drop parana shield and aspir knife) ran around Giddeus with 10-30 yag train. brought them to camp and atked them. blm cast firage and aeroga. then traded 68 yags, airshiped to bastok. traded in 72 zincs. went to jueno, rice balls 156. went to norg, got quest, silent oiled all the way there and back. and even took trip to yutunga jungle for teleport crystal. really easy quest with blm.

ok to save u gil i did the windy quest Mihgo's Amigo for Norg fame spent 2 days farming yagudo neckless did the quest 60 times that is 240 neckless got all Nin scrolls in norg rice ball in jeuno was priced at 153 befor i even ever went to norg lol hope thei helps sum of u how have no gil to burn

handed in 176 or so yagudo bead necklaces, became a tenshodo member and had lvl 3 norg fame.
did the rusty subligar, rusty leegings and tonko ichi quests and still had lvl 3 fame. Checked the rice ball price and it was at 153 at this time. Went to bastok handed in 9 zincs (1 for the first time)and killed the leeches in korrolaka tunnel for nin quest. Went to norg and had enough fame to do the quest. Did it then went to bastok to finish up the nin quest.

Ok people, I had absolutely no fame in Bastok or Norg. I needed the Ninja scrolls so I can level Ninja. I started the quest "Shady Business". With absolutely no fame in Norg, you will have to do the quest 25 times to get the Tonko: Ichi quest. You will have to do it 5 more times to get the Utsusemi: Ichi quest. All in all, you must do the quest 30 times to get both quests. I hope this helps^^

fame in norg is directly connected to bastok fame. i have maxed out my fame in bastok and when it came time to do the yag necklaces or the zinc quest i did about 40 necklaces and the zinc quest once. i had enough fame to do the tonko quest ... after that i had enough to do uts. and so on. hope that helps
I can't see how this can be accurate. I got my fame level in all cities to at least level 4 in order to do the Teleport quests. Windy is 5, Bastok is 4, Sandy is 8. However, I have no Norg fame. The guy had no clue who I was.
