Moonshade Highlands and Droughtlands are mostly concurrent. When you find the quest getting too tough at one, go to the other for awhile.

General Stanig is the ghost of a Dwarven leader from the time of the Fall of Hammerknell Fortress. He will appear in several different places and is involved in the quests throughout this zone. He is apparently neutral and deals with Defiant and Guardians alike. Given when he died, he probably does not recognize a difference between them.
