Travel Stones (Rift)

Ashes of History
World Event

October 13, 2011
Long ago, before the coming of the Blood Storm, all of Telara was linked in a network of Travel Stones allowing swift travel to all points in the world. The technology of the Travel Stones was lost in the sands of time. The Porticulums are a faint echo of the stones and are based on the same principles.

Now, the song of the Travel Stones has been heard again, by the Ascended. Only they can hope to unravel the song of the stones and restore them. Ashes of History introduced Travel Stones.

Greater Travel Stones have the capability to send the user anywhere on Telara... literally. This is their danger. They need an operator who knows how to sing the instructions to the stones or you could end up anyplace. For this reason the Greater Stones will have an NPC present to send you to a specific known destination. Greater Travel Stones are found at Meridian, Sanctum, Talos Landing and Fort Zarnost.

Most Travel Stones are connected directly into the Porticulum network and allow travel to any other Travel Stone or Porticulum in Telara that you have been to before and unlocked. One difference from Porticulums is that the magic of these Travel Stones do not require an attendant to activate them.

Travel Shards are the same blue crystals you see at the Travel Stones, but when mined they were not of a size or shape to be useful in creating Travel Stones. They still have teleportation uses, but their range is very limited. Commonly these are seen at the base of a tower to take you to the summit room, or in a courtyard to take you to the roof.
