Chaneque's Special Attacks
Historical InformationIn Aztec mythology, the Chaneque were sprite-like beings that governed nature. They'd frighten off any intruders to their domain to the point that the intruder's soul would leave their body, which the Chaneque would then imprison in the depths of the land. Should the soul not be returned to the body via a sacred ritual, the individual would eventually become ill and die.

I was on my way to Jugner[S] on my DNC flag quest, I decided to go in Necropolis to see if I had my Red Recommendation letter, couldn't remember, I zoned out and kept on going and saw Chaneque. I quickly looked up some information to make sure I could solo it, since the NM in Sauromungue[S] kicked my taru butt in 15 seconds. I buffed up and attacked it, easy fight, I used Manafont when the mob's health was at about 30%, Tier 4 nukes drained me fast, I mostly had Lv.25 gear one because I had just been leveling my SCH in Qufim, except I had my AF hat and body, and a Phantom Earring, nothing fancy. Easy fight overall as a 74BLM/WHM, got the drop (my MNK is still Lv.30) then kept going for my quest. Must've been lucky I guess, wiki says it's a 9-10% drop chance.
As I write this I am currently 0/8 on the drop with TH3. Fight is easy as a Lv75 Thief. Recommend you have some evasion gear on jobs that are not Thief or Dancer and use shadows as it has a strong en-drain effect when it does manage to land on you.
