Much like going to a staging point or a cavernous maw, talking to these lycopodiums in the past will let you use the "sparkling light" that replaces them in the same spot in the present. Trading a flower to the sparkling light in the present AFTER having talked to the lycopodium in the past will teleport you up the ledge it faces so that you don't have to travel up that ledge the long way. I know it says the quest is repeatable... But do you have to talk to the Mandy NPC every time you do it? Or just the first time?

finally the lyco @ GC[s] is able to get u past the second banishing gates in the present no more /sh for gate breach @ jeuno all day for maybe 2 ppl to give up + wander off after waiting an hour

Yes thats exactly what they are :) The Batallia one will take you to the upper level of the cliffs formerly only reachable by going through Beaucdine Glacier.
The N Gustaberg one will take you close to Palborough mines, without that long trek throught the lower two zones, Garlaige Citadel I have not completed yet.
