Vana'diel Bestiary: Hoo Mjuu the Torrent  

Okay, personally I cant stand camping monsters, im just too impacient. that is why im poor. But my roommate LOVES camping this. he is like 3/forty thousand kills for that signa. Weve started picking up a pattern (thanks to a stuck up little taru as*goes into a series of bleeps, he was a very bad, bad person*) And, due to alittle testing, it seems it wont drop the signa if it does bennidiction. You may ask "But yusaki, it always does bennidiction".. yeah, but because of this taru, we noticed that if you suddnally try to kick the living sh*t out of it, it panics like any WHM, and 2hrs. Were still workin on it, but if i can get some other people that arnt lazy like me to back this up. The secert seems to be to do as little damage as you can, ping it to death. Dont cast blizzard 8.. cast dia, unequip your weapon, it really seems like you have to ping this bird to death to avoid it from doing bennidiction, the two times it didnt do bennidiction, it dropped the fancy little chr staff. Test it out people, see how it works. I may very well be wrong (and, i quite often am) but the fact that it dropped twice when it didnt do bennidiction made me raise an eyebrow. And after playing with him for awhile, he didnt seem to do bennidiction when doing as little damage as possable. If your some uber powerful dude, even with no weapon hitting him for tons of damage, i think he still gets alittle edgy and casts bennidiction. I dunno, but it doesnt seem like a bad idea. If you claim it, no rush to take it down. (though, it pisses off the fifty other campers =D)

Edit: Also, i was thinking that he may also cast it if his health goes down too fast, an alliance of lvl 17's with no weapon still might panic the skittish bird.

Well in Asura there is a GALKA mnk subbed with thf he uses something that let him knows which one is the PH or the NM and when it will pop at perfect timing...

the !@#$er uses flee and in like 5 seconds the PH or the NM pops... we were like 8 camping it and he claimed it twice both time I saw it. He pulls it with some mnk ability I never seen before usually dont party with mnks since valkurm(lv20) lol. something about fist I think

I seen him 3 times claimed it 0 times as 47thf/20war **** GALKA most die1!


Edit: Yup Chi=Blast and guess what... now another galka mnk/thf /anon is camping it doing exactly same thing but has a dif name... Name was Sky_____ (sky"somthing"). Im 0/2 on drops now

So on Sylph there is an RMT who camps Hoo 24/7. He auto flee's and vokes Hoo. Well today he did that and beat me to claim because I was getting a drink. I laugh because he was afk (46THF) and after about 10 minutes and a link he died. I got claim and drop! Afoaahaf = RMT and boy does it feel good to watch them die! Anyways on a more serious note, I noticed no one is posting about camping him so I guess I will. There are 3 Mendicants in the area, they spawn at the rate of 3hr 25-35min game time, and only one of them is the real PH. Not sure which one, but I think it has to do with if they spawn out of the zone they were last in. Not 100% sure but good luck and I hope you got a laugh and learned something!

Been camping him recently. The first time with two LS members, we claimed him and received Deorderize. The second time I camped with my girlfriend. We got him that time with no trouble. This time the mitts dropped. Last night, we camped him again... 0/2 on claims that time. Later in the night I tried again with Vegetto. We got him. Deoderize. ><;

I was farming Yag Beads for my Norg fame when he popped around Midnight Lightsday. THF30/NIN. He used Benediction first thing, silly fool. Dropped Zealot's Mitts, which I'm going to give to a LS member that's in early mage levels.

I have been camping Hoo for a few months now and I have to say that darts are probably one of the thing for a thief to camp with. They are fast and I have beat out several people that use Provoke/Flash/etc. I will usually see him pop every 1-2 hours and darts have never failed me yet. 1/17 on this greedy Yagudo

I've only camped this spot 2 times as 38 WAR/NIN. I got the claim both times the first time it dropped the mitts which sold for 50k the second time it dropped the Monster Signa. I'm heading to Jeuno to see what I can sell it for. So goodluck to everyone else trying to get this item.

This is if i ever get the drop again will be my source of gill. the best way to get claimis havemore then one person and to split the dough u have to be every quick so thf would help w/ flee bcuz u might have to run to get him

I'm was just wondring how often Huu Mjuu spawns, my LS says that NMs pop every 24 hours but i think their full of it. can anyone help me out with this?

1/3 on the signa (had a thf with me)
1/3 on the mitts
1/3 on the scroll


does anyone know the time between pops or is it totally random?
Does TH help seeing as he always drops something?
Someone below mentioned the longer you fight teh more chance for the drop. I got the scroll on a real fast kill and the signa on a slow kill.. (tho I think he took longer to kill when I got the mitts)

fought this one three times last night with no result other then zealott's mitts. timed the repop for it to one hour more or less on the minute. just have to kill of all yagudos in sight.
