Vana'diel Bestiary: Jaggedy-Eared Jack  

I camped for an hour one night. No one else is camping until about two minutes before he finally appeared. We all made a mad dash for the top of the hill, but I was the only one who used /provoke. I stole a San d'Orian carrot from him, but no drop.

I ran back to San d'Oria to empty my inventory and make sure my auctions were all still running. I ran back about a half hour later with the intention of passing through, and there he was again with no one camping this time. I took him on again. I failed a steal attempt, and again no drop. So, I figured that since I had two spawns in less than a half hour, I'd camp him for a third. I wandered around his spawn area for three hours farming rabbit hides and the like before he finally spawns again. A 5 ftr/2 mnk gets a voke in on him this time, but I hung around knowing that he wouldn't make it. The fellow died in the fight, but a crowd had gathered by that time. An idiot 25 thf/12 whm who could have healed the poor ******* (I would have) ends up taking over, getting the kill, and getting the drop. I didn't believe him, so I checked him afterwards. Sure enough, he was wearing it.

I was on my way to pick up some grocery supplies in sandy when I ran into this little booger. I've been leveling thf lately so I know all about the rabbit charm he very rarely drops. I immediately hop off my choco and engage. Three swipes later he's toast. Not only did he not drop the charm, he didn't drop no meat, no tail, no hides, nothing >< Oh well, at least I can add another nm to my knock-off list. Oh, btw, I found him at H-9 northeastern section.

Im 0/2 on this NM. I ran by him today on a chocobo when no one was around. Killed him. Got nothing. He pisses me off that his drop rate is about 5% let alone his spawn rate is 1-4 hours.

I camped him today for about 4 hours, he didnt pop... whats with that? I dunno, Imma get ranger so I can widescan for him. So far this is what I got:

MNK 20
RDM 14
THF 10

Getting Ranger and Ninja next. I plan to get every job to atleast 40. Then to 60.

Has anyone camped him post patch? Any difference in the usual 1-4 hour pop rate? I am wondering because I've camped him and I just hit 1/38 on this monster, and I'm wondering if anyone else is having better luck post patch.

I know this drop is extremly low. But none the less i always try to lvl jobs at his pop area. So my uncle just got game, and i thought i'd start a whm to pt with him. I just died at start walking back to outpost where we were xping. And i see it, the only problem is that i am like 1/4th hp on a lvl 9 whm, and my uncle doesnt know how to use map/markers. I start resting and i see someone come and claim it, kinda makes you mad? Oh that is just the start.

Week later, we are starting subjobs and i lvl smn. I hit lvl 9 sweet, been killing hares for xp all day, popped 5 times saw it once. I see it i freak out, being used to being powerful i just dia it, and die cause i dont take out carby, and i dont have hp or mp. But my hp is La Thiene zone. So i rush back up there still lvl 9 (JeJ is lvl 9) i engage it, then gob aggros me i die. I get pissed, and run up there again. Eventually i find it again, i plan this one out, but i dlvled from the last fight to lvl 8. I pull out carby, and set it to attack, use 2 hour, but it was useless since carby died. Then i fight it cure hit, cure, etc. 1/4 Hp left on it and i die. I will never bee so cursed again!

The most frustrating part about this NM is the ability for any noob walking by to see it and kill it. West Ronf. is such a high traffic area and low level exp area too. Just today I was camping it and lost the pull to a traveling 10RNG to barely managed to kill it... >.<

man, i was lvling my first thats now a mule cause i was bored, so i brought out my lvl 13 warrior elvaan dude from sandy, was running and BOOM, he spawns for me, i engage him and start fighting him, kill and holy crap, a rabbit charm, so i go back to sandy, i look and its only for thieves, i checked the AH and 30k, i thought it was worth ALOT being a 13 noob, sold it for 30k.... now, camping it as my thf/rng taru, im about 0/6 on him --;

It is possible to grab Rabbit Charm off of Jack without a THF using Treasure Hunter / Treasure Hunter 2, but it is highly reccomended. The spawn time seems to be about 1hr~2.5hr if Forest Hares in the surrounding area are being destroyed. (Recently camped with a friend, a BLM and a WAR both killing Hares at a rapid pace help out.) I am deeply contemplating leveling THF just for the sake of TH/TH2, as it seems to be the only way to grab the charm. (On a side note.. 0/2 on this little bugger.) Also, if you ever DO get this, don't try to sell on AH unless you wish to. Either use it, or announce that you have sold a Rabbit Charm on the AH for X gil. It is always worth a couple 100,000 on just about any server. ^^

I hunted jaggedy-eared jack for 4 days straight, i missed 2 pops, 0/24, it never drops, but im still trying

picked him up on widescan as a 17thf/rng just a few minutes ago, offed him in about three minutes and all I got was 12exp...:(
