Bloodtear?
# Feb 04 2004 at 5:58 PM Rating: Default
In beta, Steelfleece was a regular spawn in Konschtat, and he had a twin brother in La Theine named Bloodtear something. I've never had the pleasure of seeing either baddie since the release, but has anyone seen Bloodtear?

I went to the highlands to farm rams last night and saw him on wide scan. A party of lvl 65-70 japanese players were fighting him and it was no contest, for poor old Steelfleece that is. They completely destroyed him, I was thinking "this is the legendady lvl 70 PLD slaying Steelfleece? WTF?" Either Steelfleece is overrated or they were very, very good.

Also, the PLD never lost agro, not once. and they didn't run around, they just stood in a formation around him and Steelfleece latched onto the PLD and never let go the entire fight.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

The PLD probably used Invincible, which is a bigger hate magnet than Benediction. That's prolly why he never lost aggro.
yes.

my roommate (level 35 redmage at the time) was helping a friend of ours who lost his character level a new one in the highlands when they see this huge battering ram named steelfleece baldrich. it was from a fair distance away and our friend says to my roommate "go take him on" so my roommate casts dia on it. an earthquake rocks the screen as this Huge ram starts walking towards her and goes from being huge to being f*cking Ginormous. my roommate starts laughing like a little girl as steelfleece hits her for somewhere around 435 points of damage.

not even three minutes later she gets a raise from a japanese whitemage wearing AF gear...who is running after a japenese warrior also in AF gear. who then proceed to kill steelfleece, by themselves. it was one of the more memorable moments for me in ffxi...and i only watched the whole thing from behind my roommates back.
rocked!

He rocked my 30th mnk all the way back to 29th, in a few nicely placed shots. :(

I was hunting stray mary when I saw a /sh saying where he was. I quickly looked him up... and he wasn't listed on the site.. so I figured what the hey? The other ram NM's are like 28.. so I thought I'd give him a try..

Days later I see the 60-75 lvl listing for steelfleece and I laugh.... just with that info would have been out a few days sooner. :) I would have not been so bold. Would have saved some annoying time getting lvl 30 back.
this thing...

I was trodding along, attempting to rendezvous at the Crag of Dem... I looked at my map, and switched into auto-run. Got my bearings, and adjusted my track a bit, then I noticed that there was some sort of mountain in between that little patch of trees. As I was slipping by, trying to rearrange the camera, that mountain got up and BIT ME. Wham, bam, thank you ma'am, I was down like that. Turns out this "mountain" of a sheep was too tall for me to see its name in the frame of view. By the way, the same one killed me for twice the damage with mighty strikes not ten minutes later, right as I was warning the party to "look out for something called a Steelfleece Baldrich."

Not aggro, my a$$, it killed me from behind when I stoped and read the map!
A level 19 Theif

As a level 19 Theif happily running along I spotted a massive sheep. Being somewhat "New" to the game I asked my Linkshell about the monster they told me that a party of 15's can take it on easily and taht the size is just for looks. So me and a couple others walked up to it 678 damage I was back to my HP.

sounds like your linkshell got confused and thought it was a battering ram

there's a normal sheep, a battering ram (tremor ram in the highlands) that's twice as big, and then there's these mtns of lamb..

saw a party fighting one.. jeezus it's huge
I've seen it too

That picture looks awesome... and it really is that big. A higher-level friend and I were returning from Gusgen mines (one magicked skull richer) and we saw the beast. It's unnerving when a level 53 red mage says "run!"

that thing is huge! I posted a pic of it in the general discussion forums, but in case anyone is too lazy to look for it there, here it is again:

I didnt dare to fight it because some guys in my linkshell said you'd need a party of level 70 people to kill it ^^
