I just killed her as a 30BST/WHM also. I was exp'ing in the area and saw her up on wide scan, so I had to try my luck. After killing the other spiders in the room, luckily two of them repopped EM so I threw them at her. Unfortunately for me the crabs and pugils in the room behind her were still Tough to me, I risked a couple, but mostly used Combats down in the tunnel.
It was not an easy fight. I went down to 2 HP at one point, ran all the way to the Bastok end of the zone, and ended up throwing several EP bats at her while I got to a safe distance and got MP back to heal up. Took probably 25 minutes, a lot of that was because someone trained the entire zone and there were very few mobs for me to use. BTW, it's easier to send the crabs and pugils after her if you can, the softer mobs like the spiders she just guts with Sickle Slash, they don't last long at all.
Got the scythe too! So I'm 1/1, unfortunately my DRK is already 66, but it's still awesome for BST at 30-34 if you plan on doing spiders in the tunnel and then in the desert beyond.

Falcatus Aranei's Special Attacks
Historical InformationThe falcata is a type of sword typical of pre-Roman Hispania (the Iberian Peninsula, modern Spain and Portugal), similar to the Greek kopis or Nepalese kukri. The term falcata is not ancient. It seems to have been coined by Fernando Fulgosio in 1872, on the model of the Latin expression ensis falcatus "sickle-shaped sword" (which, however, refers to the Harpe). He presumably went with falcata rather than falcatus because the Spanish word for sword espada is feminine, although there are other presumable theories. So , I was leveling in the Spider room , just minding my own . When I see a spider walking by ... I payed it no attention . Healing and my spider dies from another one's acid spray I stand up to Charm the one right in front of me , naturally I check the mob , and it comes up "The Falcatus Aranei's strength is impossible to gauge!" . So here I am trapped in a corner , scared hoping he doesn't attack me . Well ... thank goodness a spider popped and I charmed it and made it attack Falcatus Aranei , hell I want the Webcutter too . Not to mention I think I'm the lowest BST that's done it (SWEET)!!! Here's the tally of pets I used .
Huge Spiders: 9
Clippers: 4
Pugils: 3
HareFamiliar: 2
Jellies: 1
Combats: 1
20 Pets total . I think it would have been less , but in the mad dashes from room to room , one of the time he was @ 55% HP , and I was patiently waiting for him to come in there so I could throw my pug at him , but he had stopped and was waiting for me to come back . Silly spider .
Didn't have many problems as pretty much through the entire fight he only hit me twice , until I pulled hate casting Poisona too close . From then on it seemed like he had it out for me . Still beat him with 34/556 HP left .

wanted Webcutter for DRK which i'm lvling next.
Went down to his spawn point, camped for 1 hour, got drop 1/1. It also dropped 2 spider webs. This thing is uncamped and the scythe is the best weapon for it's level.

As the topic implies, this was not duoable as PUP/WHM & DRG/WHM at level 30. We managed to get it down to almost 50% before it succeeded in wiping us both.
I dont know if the level is correct, I killed this NM at 36 with Bst, finished off with an EP crab and only got 35 xp even with a pet at 44-46 I should have got 200 xp (If it was that level I should have never won).
This is a 2-hour pop, but he isn't a 100% chance at 2-hours. I killed him at 10PM today, then CCC at 10:07 (nearly exactly), logged out until 11:45, logged in, ran to his PH spots (puts me around 12:00), and killed them. They repopped around 12:05, and he was among them.
I killed him, and finally got the drop. That makes me 1/16 (almost all with TH). He always drops a Spider Web, and can drop up to 3. The drop rate off the spiders he is spawned from is about 1/50 with TH.
A Note on the Weapon:
Stun probably procs 1/10 of the time on EMs. It seems to be hate-free. The monsters' don't turn to me any more often after it procs than they normally would.
Best part of this weapon is the stun added effect proc animation. So cool!

Well he is definitely a 3 hour pop. If you get there, you'll need to kill all the spiders twice before he will pop if his timer is ready. I go as 75NIN and he cant even hit me. He does seem to like to spam Poison and Sickle Slash though so lower levels would need to be careful.

so i was farming spider webs today and this guy pops. i'm like cool this should be fun. i spent my entire MP pool taking him out and i got some gil and a spider web for my troubles. LAME!!! however after seeing what he drops its not like i needed the webcutter anyways. XD

lol this guy is a joke im 3/3 on hid drops while camping Cargo Crab Colin who is a diff story.each time i got a webcutter i gave one to a friend and the first one i kept for myself ^^ but hes an easy claim and if you just keep all the spiders killed when they pop he is easy to kill because you have no more spiders to deal with because they are all dead already.
47thf and was farming in Kor Tunnel and thought hmm i heard the spider NM can drop up too two webs at once might as well camp him while im here, killed the guy twice each time i got 15 exp at 47 so hes nowhere near the stated lvl hes actually quite easy kurayami,hojo stuck each time i was able to SA him off the bat to claim and then able to sleep bolt him once and SA him one last time after that sleep bolt just wouldnt sticki tried about 10~ sleep bolts before i finally gave up and just went back to def down and kept shadows up, first kill got around 1800gil and a spider web second kill i got 2x spider webs (=D hurray) 1x Cutter Mugged 180~ gill and another 1800~ gil. Used about 10~ shihei per fight, as for the room he pops in try to keep it clear because if not its link central -_-. Have fun.

Just solo'd him as a 32bst/whm. used every spider in the rooms, 4 pugils, a jelly, and 3 crabs. never really hit me more then once, as a i made sure after i cleared the spider room i would charm and have my pet fight him, then run to the other room so i had plenty of time to charm my next prey if there was a mischarm. only do this if the spider room is clear, b/c you don't need 10 spiders bearing down on ya :-) good luck and happy hunting

just did the same 32bst/16nin. took 2 T pugs 2 DC pugs and 1 tiger fam. didnt get touched due to uts, but only got spiderweb (_ _) /sigh SE hates me..
no mischarms, no incedents, familliar on one of the T pugs and zeta bisc.
ok i am now 0/3 on drop >.< 3/3 on claim
and no mishaps on fighting aside from people trying to steal my kill if the mob unclaimed when i petswaped made it a lil difficult to do things but none the less falcatus fell.

Defense down, kurayami, and poison all stuck on this guy fine.
It spawned after clearing the area twice, and I dragged it into the room with the three pugils to avoid potential links.
Had pretty poor accuracy, but this guy can go Sickle Slash crazy. >.> I'd see one once in a while, and then three almost back to back. When it finally got one in, it hit me for 321 damage. Regular hits were in the low 30s.
Got a little worried, but kept shadows up most of the time, and recovered with the few bloody bolts I had on me.
Drops were 1860 gil, two Spider Webs, and the Webcutter. :D Gives me some incentive to level BST now.
As for the level... Definitely doesn't seem to be the level specified. I'm no expert with this kind of thing, but I do believe something that many levels below me would still give me, what, easy prey EXP? *Shrugs*

Position? Is it on main road? I farm Slimes all the time since im Lvl 100+1 Alchemy and I have yet to ever see this guy.
Yea i had to check ffxi-atlas.com but basically if you zone in from zerum mines go all the way to the end where east altep is where you can see the steps look to your left if your look at the stairs somewhere right along that wall theres a "hidden" path, follow till you eventually come to one of the bridge type things where you can jump back off to the main path, cut across the bride thing and keep going to the right eventually youll come across a few clippers greater pugs and then a room with a single jelly, from the jelly room im pretty sure you can see the next room visibly with the spiders, just killed them all hell pop eventually, he appears to be around a 2-3hr pop killed him once, exactly the 2HR:30Min mark he spawned again. good luck.

OK, I just soloed this guy as BST31. I tried and it killed me with links. I used my Reraise and while weakened went after him again. I used every spider in the room on him as well as the 3 pugils in the room behind him and the Jelly outside. I got the Webcutter, a Spider Web, a crystal and some gil all first drop. :) It was a blast. I only took 4 hits the whole time fighting him.

Duo'd with 2 29BSTs, tons of fun, got the Webcutter and a Spider Web.
It doesn't aggro from what I saw. I links with all the spiders and only aggros resting if I remember correctly.

Started on this NM camp at 8:00am EST,killed the spiders 5 times and go to heal.9:00am I was reading some posts on here for the spider, go back to game and there it was! 1 barrage and 1 sidewinder was all he could take. Recieved 2 spiderwebs and the Webcutter.

I was Lvling in the tunnel today as 31 Bst. I killed all the spiders and left the area. When I came back there he was. I began throwing all the spiders in the area at him. I asked a friend to come give me a hand (30 Bst). After he got there we made short work of him. Got 52 exp 600 gil an earth crystal and a spider web. Mabey next time I will get Webcutter!

yea i just wanted to say me and my freind and fellow bst dagoon on hades server were exping on spiders and crabs when this nm poped had no clue what lev it wasbut we decided what the hell well give it our best we were both lev 31 we threw unknown amounts of pets at this thing evrytime he used sickle slash it was goodbye pet so in the end we walk with 662 gil each and a spider web so i have to say theres no way the scythe is 100% drop i just thought i would say that o by the way my main job is blm 65 on hades server also as mentioned earlieri am a bst 32 nowon the ls funwith jugs run by xanthan my name is omnitaru

This is like the BST "trainer" NM^_^ he pops in a very nice XP spot for (I think) BST31 or so. Try killing him, it's really fun! He hits hard and if you take a sickle slash it's game over, so be careful; even using a terrible pet like an EP is preferable to being targetted for even a brief time.
killed this NM solo as 50DRG/RDM. sickle slashes did only around 100 damage, and i ended the battle with about 500hp left.
dropped 2 spiderwebs and 1 webcutter.

No. You only need Zilart installed (which has always come packaged with the game outside Japan), because Korroloka Tunnel is an RoZ area. Basically, if you can walk into Korroloka Tunnel, you can get the NM.
What does the crab item have to do with the Spider NM? Just wondering why this is posted here...

No. Just extremely low drop rates. I ended up 1/20 for the Nadrs.
