Sewer Syrup Changes?
# Dec 10 2004 at 9:53 AM Rating: Decent
Well last night I got some friends together to camp this baby! Seeing as though im close to being a 63pld the time is right i figured. Had a 75whm, 69pld, 68rdm, 64blm, 62blm, 62whm 62pl.

We all got there gung ho and with swords/staffs a swinging! After the 6hour mark though we were all rather down and annoyed! We were killing all the Mousse's and all the werebats in site, including around the corner!

Sewer Syrup however never spawned.... Now this was after the latest patches where it says there is some changes to some of the NM's... has Sewer Syrup been changed at all... or were we doing something wrong? At one point we tried to make sure there wasnt a single mousse alive within the area, and i mean up to the large hall with the dogs, to the corridor with all the murder holes...

After the 6hour mark we all just needed sleep being 3am so we logged with a rather unsuccesful night and a dirty taste in our mouths =(

OK, did it today with me (PLD74/WAR37), RDM 59, DRK 70, BLM 72, and SMN 59. Did better than last night's 4 1/2 hour romp... I *think* the key was that one of the Mousse placeholders is WAY the hell out there. Hard to explain where, but down the other watery corridor, around the corner. Killed Syrup within 1 hour 1/2. BLM 72 and SMN 59 died, unfortunately... I imagine would be very easy if nukers went easy on the thing, let tank hold aggro and do it nice and slow.

What do we know about the pop time? I know it's a lottery pop of the Mousse, but everyone says 2 hours. Me and some pals stayed in that spot about 4 1/2 hours, no Sewer Syrup pop.

I got this ring for some PLDs in my LS. The Mob is not that hard if you have a 75 ninja tank it.

I did this with just the help of a 63 PLD/WHM. Spirts witin is key to speeding up this fight. As a ninja its very very very easy to tank. It can't hit for crap and after you slow/par/blind it, its just a long *** fight.

Took the PLD and I close to 30 min to kill. He was just a Mage for the most part. He stayed out of AoE range if he could and only cured when needed.

We also didn't pull it to the zone. Was kinda harder at times when the mobs around repoped. but the PLD went after them and i changed over to them to use TP to help him out.

All and all very easy. killed the NM and 5 adds that poped over the 30 min gap.

A word of warning if you do drag this guy to the West Ronfaure zoneline.

If you have quite a few people for the fight, make sure that everyone takes the effort to avoid the trap doors as they run through the sewers.

What we did was we had a BST charm one of the bats and attack the Syrup while we hoofed it to zone. Well, the Beastmaster was following someone who ran over a trap door. She didn't fall down the hole, but the BST did. He was fine until the Syrup made quick work of the bat and then went down to the second level of the Oubliette to find him.

The first hit broke the BST's sneak which made every leech in the area aggro. Anyone who tried to help him was wiped, and we made a nice train to zone. =/

So make sure to avoid those trap doors.

Yes, sorry for not addressing this in my post. Those rotten trap doors can be a hastle, especially if you enjoy the game at a lower light setting.
My Experience :D

It's TP gain is silly, seems overjacked. In any case, EXTREMELY fun battle. My PT was 75PLD (myself :P), 74PLD, 74WHM, 72BLM, 73MNK, 71DRK. We had been killing the Mousse and Haunts around the area for fun, seeing who could claim pops in the room the fastest :D. Then **** pops in between my pulls, MNK Chi Blasts it. Started the fight with WHM at about 100mp, and both BLM and myself were low as well (had been killing mousse, etc nonstop). At first everyone meleed it, but it spammed the Jelly AoE move rather quickily, took our already low hp even lower...so all disengaged (after both PLDs used 300% Spirits), left it to our uber BLM.^^

My MNK's exact words: "***** this s***, ima just Chi Blast it".

It CANNOT be slept, Sleep II was doing absolutely nothing. I lost aggro like crazy, then lost for good when I told the BLM to just nuke the thing, other PLD was in the BLM's PT (we had not made 1 PT after meeting up), and covered him while BLM went Manafont. Think his Blizzaga III or whatever high level spell did like 1700 on the jelly.

This battle is easy if you're well prepared w/ BLM. Had we started at full mp/hp, would've went far more smoothly. I do suggest a PLD tank, just so that he can hold hate as long as possible against the nuking. Estimate his HP at 10,000-15,000. Might be more/less, wasn't keeping track what with all the fun. :)

Good luck.^^

Mousse/Haunts in area aggro 75, Werebats won't aggro, they're the forever EP type.

The great Ninja, Winston, from <Fairy> solod this mob for me, while I nuked banish/banish II (as PLD). He killed it easily as Nin/whm.

Killed it no problem with 69 blm / 75 blm / 75 pld. you can pretty much count the pld out though because he never got hate. Magic casts on this thing does extreme ammounts of damage (blizzard IV did 1500+). Best is just to gravity it and run around and nuke it.

The mob is no where near 85ish.. sewer syrup is a faily easy mob, you can kill with a party of 65+ easy. As long as you have a higher lvl tank everyone in party is ok, i got it in about a 3 hour spawn and took out with: 63whm/70pld/65blm/64rdm/66thf/62drk
Easy

It doesn't matter how many melees you have in your party...

My reccomendations:
1. ONE person tanks this thing. NO other melees. NIN tank would be best so it gets very very little TP. (yes, you are probably a PLD which sorta competes with NIN. But get a NIN friend to help you if you can. If you engage at all, just 300TP Spirits it, and disengage)

2. At least one, preferably more BLMs. If you only have one, keep him refreshed. Have him poke away at this one with Fire I and Fire II. Medium to fast pace is ok if PLD and BLM have the +/- enmity of AF on. Not a problem.

3. At least one WHM.

4. Any other melees need to take adds or nearby mobs to keep the mages and the tanks separate.

Taru BLM or WHM will get one-shotted by this thing's AoE. Don't make the mistake of having your melee help you out with this mob. It's about as useful as casting Diaga to debuff a group of adds while they're asleep >_>

Sewer Syrup Info
# Aug 08 2004 at 4:23 AM Rating: Excellent
Hi just got the jelly ring yesterday ^^.
Setup : 67pld, 68whm, 63blm, 60rdm, 67rdm, 62thf, 56thf.
Waiting time : 3hr 30mins of killing mouuse in the corridor before Sewer Syrup popped.
Pop Spot : It pops exactly inside the room at I-11.

Please read chidorii's and Llednari's post on how to kill it. Thanks to their post for providing me information on how to do it ^^

My party didn't go to the West Ronfaure exit to fight. We just pulled to the corridor outside range of the haunts in the room and engaged. Lucky for us there was no adds. But my blm died during the ending of the fight. I need to stress the importance of magic dmg, without it do not engage the sewer syrup even if you are 75.

Have your mages blink and stoneskin up before engaging and regularly refresh their blink stoneskin buffs. The Fluid AOE hits about every 30-45 secs. As for me tanking was ok so long you are above 65 i believe tanking for pld would not be a problem.

GoodLuck to those who are doing this ! (>_<)b

Got the drop first time we killed it.
He's very easy if you have a 70+ tank and 2 healers. Well... sorta easy.
You just have to make sure you have black or redmages to deal the majority of the damage and stay out of his nasty aoe range.

We did it with an alliance of of 12 65-72 and it was super super easy. most of us just stayed back and blew it up from long range with either magic or the other melee people were goofing around throwing pebbles at it for lvling their throwing, archery or marksmenship. (i think 5-6 lvl 60-70 is enough, pld being lvl 70 and the rest of the team being magic users)

**Easy WAY**
The key is to keep the pld at high health at all times cuz i think he uses some high damage TP or special attack that dealt 500ish damage to our 72 pld. Aside from that, pld tank, 2 whm take turns curing, 2 blms nuke slowly. And you can walk away with an easy kill after like 2-3 mins.

**Hard way**
Have a full alliance full of close range melee damage dealers. They will keep hitting the slime and help the slime build up huge TP while dealing very little damage. The slime will use his TP (super AOE attack) and deal like 200-300 damage to EVERYONE every few seconds (ok every 30-45 seconds) and before long your whm casts one too many curagas, dies and everyone else dies except the lucky ones who have a blm in their party that casts escape.

Llednari's post is very accurate.

I did this yesterday with 72 pld, sam, rdm, whm. The mousse placeholders weren't in the room with the haunts @I-11, but in the pathway before it. We had a mousse add, but it was easily slept. To level 72's the werebats around it conned as EP--, but was low enough to not aggro us. The fight wasn't too difficult, just a bit long. Due to the high physical damage, most of the damage will be from magic and bursts (which the sewer syrup seemed to have poor magic defense). MB's seemed to be doing twice as much damage, as the rdm was bursting the light sc with fire 3 doing 1000 damage, and I was bursting with holy doing 350 damage. Fluid was doing anywhere from 200-500 on the pld.

We got the drop, but it seems to be 100% based on other responses. We will probably do this multiple times for each of us (since it's great for farming, camping nm's).

This mob is around lvl 85ish I saw two pts of lvl 72-75 take it on, it looked like they had some troble

an 85 Mob, thats extreemly high in my opinion, I would say 75 or so perhaps. Me and a 75 blm soloed it without any major issues while I was level 70. I would recomend a healer, or second blm, but otherwise I thought this thing was cake if you are cautious

Sewer Syrup is a lottery spawn off of Mousse, and will pop in the square area at I-11. Unfortunatly, Mousse, Werebats and 2 Haunts obscure a safe fighting area. If you have a huge group, then there really isnt a problem, but if you need a strategy for a small group, then this information might help;

Requirements: lv70(Approx.) PLD, RDM, WHM. (These are the minimum needed to pull this off.)

Strategy: Once Sewer Syrup spawns the RDM casts gravity on it, the WHM then resneaks the RDM, and then they proceed to the W.Ronfaure exit(E-10) where the PLD should be waiting.(The RDM wont aggro or link anything on the way back, as long as he is sneaked and the Syrup is out of striking range.)

Now, once everyone is near the W.Ronfaure exit, the 2 mages should set up as close to the zone as possible, while the PLD engages the Syrup at the platform before the 2nd set of stairs. The best thing the PLD can do damage-wise, is to have Spirits Within charged up to 300%tp, and then unleash it,(did around 625dmg for me at full health. [lv71PLD]) otherwise you shouldnt expect to do much dmg. The RDM is the key to this fight. He should stand close to the exit, and Nuke like a madman. When the syrup goes for him, the RDM will simply zone to reset hate. Rinse. Wash. Repeat... This method worked fairly well, and if everyone gets into trouble, you can all just zone ;D.

The only thing to be careful of while fighting the Syrup, is his Fluid Spread attack. At times, this attack would do 500+dmg to everyone around it (I took about 400-700dmg usually). Other than that, you shouldnt have too much trouble. :)

Good Luck!

This NM is not that hard... me and my friend killed it with hardly no trouble at all... my friend was a lvl 75WAR/NIN and me lvl 72 RDM/BLM... he did the fighting and i did the enfeeds and healed and rested while my friend was owning this NM.. watch out for his AOE cause it took out my stoneskin every time.
