Had a level 75 BST help me. It still took about 2 minutes. At level 46 the rotten meat mobs would aggro me even though they are DC to me.

And the ??? are not the ones behind the shed like pic shown above. It's further up the left side of the wall.

Interestingly after defeating the ghost a miner ran to the ??? and pick axed it. I don't know if it was some weak attempt at an MPK or what. Since being a miner knowing the point gives no items and since the patch wouldn't it be useless to try to even MPK?

I did find a mining point on the way and got Darksteel ore... easiest 40k I made in 5 seconds.

FYI, there is a mining spawn that pops right above the ???'s right there.
Caught me by surprise

So there I am, a 64 PLD/25 THF, fleeing around Gusgen, mining, without a care in the world. Then I see a (Call for Help) and I figure it's time to save yet another BST from a bomb. Then I see a 50 MNK trying to solo this thing.

I flash it, hit my voke macro, remember that a) I'm subbing THF, and b) all my equip is in MH except sword, shield, and coronet. Invincible macro goes on standby-red alert. Turns out, this thing hits like a wimp, and its accuracy isn't much better. We took it out pretty easily, I think I had two Cure IVs because I wanted to keep HP close to max, just in case it had some crazy move or ancient magic or something. But we beat it, and nothing drops. Call for help, bane of my existance...

So I invite him, we rest to full, and round two begins. But this time, it curses the two of us. It was weaker than other curses, though, my HP went from 1100 to 800, MP from 270 to 200. We beat it pretty easily again, got the drop, and I felt my good deed for the day was done.

So in short, bring a 65+ and you should be okay. If you're on Bahamut and see me in there, mining away, just ask and I'll help.
Long Fight

I solo'd this 2 days ago as a lvl 52 smn. I was helping a mnk50 with this. It was a long fight but we did it. I told the monk not to engage and let me solo with my free carby for as long as i can. To my suprise there is just enough room to recast carby then run to the other corner and repeat. Went through probably 20 carby's but we did it. My advice if you try this is dont use bloodpacts just let carby auto atack as not to get hate. The only thing that happened to the mnk was the occasional enfeebling spell no nukes as it came after me while i was casting carby again in the oppisite corner of the room.

Just solo'd it with SAM/NIN, just like any normal ghost really, just has a rediculous amount of HP
I do believe it took me roughly 5 minutes to take it down by myself, a miner was nice enough to cast protect/shell and some cures on me (thanks man ^^)
Tachi: Gekko didn't silence him, and I don't believe Tachi: Kasha paralyzed him at all, in any case, he had a pretty low accuracy rating against a 75 :P (with capped evasion). He does -ga quite a few times, only reason I took any damage...and even then, woulda been only 400 ish total.

Just saying how my own fight went, not sure how well a lower level group would fare against it though.

ok i did this like 4 days ago just me a lvl 40 mnk/war and a LS mate lvl 57 drg/whm and i must say it was prolly one of the most easy ENM's ive ever had to face, i started off and i was hitting 30-40 a hit and the drg was hitting for 60-80 his wyvern for 40-60 we did 2 SC consisting of BackHand Blow > Penta Thrust and pwned it quick as hell fight cudnt have been more than 2 mins long...personal note it has a nasty curse bring holy water
Parsed this bad-boy

I went ahead and killed this guy for the MNK AF1. I parsed him at juuuust a touch over 6000 HP. Just so you guys have the heads-up.

Also, I didn't notice anyone comment as much... if flies and what-not are around and you sneak in, be sure to kill them first. They were annoying when they aggro'd a lower level character.

I'm 44 mnk/war, and I got help from a 61 pld and a 61 whm from my LS on this last night. No surprise that we beat its ***, but I was actually quite pleased at the damage I was doing. I figured I'd be gettin 10 per fist and less than 100 on Raging Fists, but my fists were connecting for 30-45, and I hit a couple of Raging Fists for 240+.

One tip: might want to bring a holy water or two. I had some on me because I've been leveling alchemy, and I did indeed get cursed (paralyzed and poisoned too).

Still, he got me into the yellow a couple times even without me getting much hate (kind of hard to pull hate from 61 pld at my level). So.. just make sure you bring a healer. And oh yeah.. beat cesti suck ***.

Edit: Just a notice: you will get aggro from bombs and flies and oozes here at lv 44. Bring some sneak and invis.

I duoed it last night with an LS friend who needed it. I was RDM55/BLM and she was MNK49/WAR.

It seemed that this was just about right - as we were both getting close to death when we finished it off. Bringing a 3rd would have made it more enjoyable.
lol

I was a lvl 42 mnk when I tried to kill this with a 52 rdm. It killed the rdm and I almost had it dead when it used it's skill. After we died it ended up chasing down a 37 BST and raping him, I feel bad for him, but it was still funny:P
Definitely tough

I, as a 60 war/thf took my 41 mnk/sam friend to do this today. I knew ahead of time that ghosts have high HP so I said for us to get 300 TP. We did, he spawned it, I did sneak + raging rush.

Breaks 1k damage as expected, but I was taken aback when I saw what a tiny chunk of its HP it took out. Didn't even look close to a sixth, more like an eighth. Raging Fists + Impaction added another 150 or so, still only a dent in him. Galnipper aggros the monk out of nowhere too, gee fun, so I provoke that and it adds to my damage throughout the fight.

Thankfully at my level he had trouble hitting me at times, but his ice spikes were a problem, paralyzing us both. Didn't help when he cast sleepga and put the monk to sleep. Another Raging Rush slammed him for 881, and our HP bars were about equal, but even with 1400+ hp I was taking a beating. Ectosmash still did a bit of damage to me. As we started to get low the monk wakes up, I go into red, activate mighty strikes the second I get 100% TP and slam him for 1300, taking a decent chunk, and another hit from the monk and I take him down. Monk has orange HP, I have like 200 left.

Now I knew it would be tough without a mage and that ghosts had HP, but I still wasn't expecting that massive of an HP pool. Bring a RDM if you can to dispel those spikes, and if you do it at low levels, you might want a poison potion for your whm in case the sleepga ruins things and your tank isn't a pld. Fun fight overall, very satisfying.

And thus he got the useless necklace to get the useless cesti.

We just did this on sunday with 42 pld/war,40whm/20 blm,drg 52/war ??,mnk43 war21.The drg got off 5 or 6 penta thrusts, the mnk got off like 3 or 4 raging fist this thing was a pain.WHm mage ran our of mana twice and was healing for the 3rd time before it finally died!!This is alot harder than it says it is
Hard!

Took it on a week ago as a 50MNK with a 53RDM to help out. We thought we'd stomp this thing like we did to Marchelute (WHM AF1 50MNK/53RDM/48WHM, took us about 30 seconds to kill him). Not so!

After I spawned the dude I pulled out raging fists (I had stored to 300TP on surrounding monsters before the fight) and realised that not only does this guy have hideous damage resistance but also gobs of HP. I triggered 100Fists and by the time that wore off he was only at 60% health or something. What would proceed is probably the craziest battle I've ever fought: the RDM en-ed himself and kept me cured; I had to boost AND provoke to keep hate over his hasted dagger (damn hasted 150 delay weapons are fast), the RDM ran out of mana, converted midfight, then ran out AGAIN, rested with his dark staff, then ran out AGAIN. By the time we killed him, the RDM was only about 5 minutes from his next convert. It's not like we have subpar gear either: the +counter on my cross-counters probably saved my life as at one point I countered 4 hits in a row.

I recommend at least 2 50+ with lower-level support, or 3 50+.
very difficult

yes, I agree with you all, this thing is a lot harder than any other lvl 45 enemy i've ever seen. With the help of a 61 pld, I killed this pain in the butt monster. I was a lvl 40 mnk at the time. There is no way a full group of lvl 40-45 group could kill it. You would have to have an alliance with people around those levels. It resisted the paladin's flash spell twice. Took about 5 mins or so to kill it. It's got around 4000+ hp.

Did this yesterday with a 60's lvl RDM. I have never felt so useless. Was doing about 20 per hit and the Ghost's HP bar wasn't moving. Used 100 Fists at first and did a couple of Raging Fists which did some damage. Had its attention for a few and then the RDM asked if I really wanted its attention. Although it was a humbing experience, just sat back and went to normal melee and only used One Inch near the end of the fight. Now I have my AF1 even tho they aren't that great and a humbler attitude.

LV60 RNG
LV51 DRG

We killed this today and it was tough... I was mainly tanking as I was doing all the damage and it took me 2 Sidewinders, Barrage, Eagle Eye Shot plus a few normal shots.

The Dragoon managed to get off 2 Penta Thrusts and a few normal swings.

I was left with 180/942 HP
DRG was left with 808/1024 HP

So yea this thing isn't easy.

This ghost is no walk in the park. *cough* We, the Finea groupies, often do things on impulse and because there seems to be a severe lack of tanks on the fairy server...decided to get the MNK AF for my sister instead. We, MNK 42, RDM 42, WHM 42 and a 60 PLD from our linkshell ventured into Gusgen lacking any real sort of battle plan. Found our way down there (after getting lost), clicked, it spawned, and we soon realized we were doing very little actual damage to it.
I must have pumped dispel into it five or six times and still it resisted and kept its stupid ice spikes ; ; didn't get a chance to try and nuke it, or debuff it other than that. When a bomb aggroed me, we pretty much knew we were screwed and the WHM ported us to Dem. Thankfully none of us died, but we were disheartened (Me, moreso than anyone else, I had died in Davoi trying to get the RDM AF earlier ^^;).
It seems to me that high level help is necessary, not only because this ghost must have tons of HP...but there are lots of things that could potentially add.

Aye, it is difficult. When we did this, We had 10 people, all between 40 and 45 but a Whm lvl 52. The Whm kept himself hidden and only came out to powerheal and take care of other mobs sticking their nose in our fight. Over-all, it was a pretty successful fight, easier then I thought, just took a while. In case it helps, we had: 2 Pld, Drk, Sam, Rng, Mnk, Whm, 2 Rdm, Nin.
With the Refresh going left and right and the 2 Pld keeping heat off the Rng when he decides to unleash, it went rather smoothly...
