General Information

  • Multiple spawn points in the lower regions of Al'Taieu.

  • Rather than attacking an individual when aggroed, they will simply follow the aggroed player for a period of time before moving away.

    • Will not attack an individual if spells or job abilities that do not inflict damage are used on it, though if attacked or if a spell or job ability is used that does inflict damage, it will attack back.

    • Even though they aren't attacking the player, a Summoner's avatars will still consider it an aggressive act, and will auto-attack.

  • At certain periods of time, they will go from a closed mouth position to an open mouth position. At this time, their attack power increases drastically, but their defense decreases by an equal percentage. A large amount of damage inflicted upon it with its mouth open will cause it to close again.

Ul'hpemde Special Attacks

  • Temporal Shift: AoE Stun effect.

  • Ichor Stream: Frontal cone AoE Water based magic damage with an additioanl Poison effect.

  • Sinuate Rush: AoE physical damage.

  • Rapid Molt: Self target full debuff removal and Regeneration effect.

  • Tail Thrust: Single target physical damage with an additional Paralysis effect.

Remember when you were bored in mog house and wanted to skill up your enfeebling/divine skill but couldn't because you'd die during the process?

Introducing: Hpemde.

These goldfish-like mobs will aggro you, but won't attack you. They will, however, fight back if you make their HP drop to 99% or below. As long as they are at 100%, they will not harm you at all. You can use all sorts of enfeebles (and job abilities) just as long as it doesn't make it's HP drop.

That being said, you can skill up just about every magic on them.
Enfeebling Magic (Paralyze, Slow, etc.), Divine Magic (Flash), Ninjutsu (enfeebling ones only).

If you're a bard, bring an instrument you want to skill up and start spamming threnodies!
no charmable mobs in sea is stupid

I think BST should be able to charm these. I mean, they already follow you around like their your pet!

Actually I hear these are sound aggro, but following is considered aggro, so Raven was right and avatars will attack, and these have a strange link pattern, of linking sometime but not always, they actually seem to link to pet more often then all attack the master of the pet, but won't link nearly as much when attacked with no pet. Also since it is considered aggro, autotarget or F8 can occasionally target these instead of what you are trying to fight.

The funny thing, these /check as tough at 75, but can be soloed by most jobs without too much trouble, Sea seems to be a great solo skillup place

Aggros

Actually the above info on no-aggro is wrong, it is true sound aggro...HOWEVER they do not hit you until you hit them with damage. This is why avatars are bad out here, it is aggro so the avatar will take a whack at it. You can do all kinds of enfeebles on them like blind, flash, and even provoke, but if you do not damage them then they will not fight back and eventually lose hate/claim and swim off.

this fish follow you around. one thing about it if you want to solo you will see something funny.
its like a flower this mob.
the picture we have here the mob is in closed mode. so its taking dammage like a decent or tough mob but if its opening its mouth like thing. its looks like a flower that opened its peals then you hit it much harder around 50% more. or from decent to ep dammage. its weak to spells or flaming crush when its opened. (ls member hit flaming for 5000++ dammage on it)
you can cast paralyze, flash, slow on it and it
will not agro. its only agro if you hit or use damamge spells. so if youre smart use paralyze and slow before engage it because it wont agro you at all.

edit.
even as a whm i hit my hexa for 1000+ up to record of 1580 on it.
