I FINALLY got this stupid bird to pop after about 4 hours, no one else was camping it either and it just happened to take that long ><;. But I finally saw it on widescan and unloaded a 300%tp Black Halo on it.

After camping this bird for over a week, I finally got the kill last night, thanks to the help of a friend (Enighishi rocks!!).
He spawned in lower right corner of H-5, near the palm tree that's north of the signpost. We were killing all the crows we saw (as well as crawlers to pass the time).
Hope that helps anyone looking to kill him...spawned within an hour of starting to camp it, that time.

After about 2 hours total, I found him, inbetween H5 and H6, right in the middle of H.
I wasted a lot of time though down in 6 and 7 and 8. once I moved up to I5 and H5, I found him in about 30 minutes.
I was a 19 beastmaster using scan. I actually didn't find him with it though - I just saw a crow and fought it - and it was him :).
I got the drop - it must be 100%.

Started at a little after 4:40.. ran around and killed all the Crows and Crawlers (may as well profit for my inevitable failure right? wrong! ^.^)
ended up with a beast coin (stole from Gob) a stack of silk (woo 50k) and stack of bird eggs (10k) then I look up and see a RdM killing a crawler... and Nunyenunc is right beside a tree next to him.. I only had 147hp >< and no Tp.. but I spent over 3.5 hours on this guy to just let some other person claim him! I spam my SA macro, run up and BAM! 86 healh gone..beat him down a bit, he is only doing ~10-14 per hit.. I am doing ~20-25.. Fast Blade, 60 dmg.. he uses the wind attack, 60 dmg ; ; was gettin worried with my 50ish HP when I got 2 crits in a row and finished him.. AND! I got my drop! ^.^! My very first NM (besides the HORRIBLY easy ones.. such as the Giddeus Nin's and Vatgit) so, my first REAL NM ^.^ and 1/1.. very pleased.. thank you all SO much for the info, or I -never- woulda found this, let alone the area. ^^ Thank you! rate ups!

Ran into bird accidently while farming crawlers and such. Got drop too.
Solo'd easily with 21 smn, 6 rng subbed.

I camped this yesterday. It took two and a half hours of crow killing before it spawned, near the tree just west of the signpost in I-5. There was no-one else camping it (yay!).

it was 2 am and i was thinking im gonna get the pilgrim's wand before i went to sleep. started camping this thing and it didnt pop until 9 am.
The best part of Final Fantasy XI is its rich storyline. It separates this game from other MMORPGs. I chose to give my character a storyline that goes along with the game's storyline. I find that this is a more fun way to play the game. Playing the game just to fight in the endgame and collect elite equipment is very boring and is totally missing the main objective of the game, which is to guide your character through the storyline which is to save the world.
Heading to giddeus to get some yag necks to turn into grass threads so i can continue leveling my cloth, I figured "might as well check to see if the nun is up". I stop, take a look around and see nothing. I go afk to grab a drink, and when i return, the bird is flyin right in my face >.> 1 shot with my arrow took'm down and i got my wand. Hoorah. Semper Fidelis XD
I did something bad the other day. After just dropping off a Noble Bed in my Moghouse I went out to look for this guy just for fun.
After a few hours I gave up and logged off up in the north corner.
Next time I logged on someone was already fighting him next to me. It was a WHM 23 but all he had equiped was some halloween-stuff so it was not going so good. I helped out with quite a few cures during the fight, myself being a BLM/WHM. He won and took off happy with his new club I guess.
Since I now knew a spawn-point I waited and waited, killed some birds, cooked some eggs and waited.
And all sudden someone else was fighting him again beside me, this time a WAR. I don't know if the guy just happened to run into him but he got killed easily by the bird. Maybe I could have helped with cures and protects but I just stood there and after I took on the bird myself, it being down to a third of it's HP, and finally got the drop myself.
But it felt like I was cheating...
P.S. And this club is really something to have as a mage, later with Baron's Slops not to mention when you get closer to 30 and have Seer's Tunic your MP comes back very fast. Just set up a macro for changing equipments when resting and another one for changing back when rested. Eat some cookies and you can really start playing.

that is a list of the quasi new NMs that are from the n00b zones, 3 main krags and 3 dungeons.. all under lvl 25.. all 100% drop.. the noob zone ones under 2hr spawn.. others simple things to do to spawn them... this is a good list of "Intro to NM Hunting" Enjoy ^^

Just got this NM, spawned at bottom right corner of H-5. I just stood at the junction of H-5, H-6, I-5, and I-6 with wide scan. Prolly camped it for an hour.
Its lev 12 because I pwned it with a 13rdm no subjob and got DC exp >.>

Killed this thing last night. Took me 2.5 hours to find him, though I didn't have widescan and was competing with four others. I found him right on top of the sign in I-5. I'd just been there a few minutes earlier and there had been no crow, so I'm guessing he spawned very near it.
I killed it as a 24WAR/12MNK, and got the drop. Was easy fight. It hit me once for 2 HP and I killed it in three hits. Like Carnero in South Gustaberg and Goliath Beetle in West Ronfaure this seems to be one of the new NMs that has a 100% drop rate on a rare/ex item. It's just a pain to actually find this NM, unlike Carnero and Goliath Beetle. I'd say you don't need Treasure Hunter to get this drop.

Only 2 placeholders for this one,on crow that pops by the lone palm tree with the rock next to it and the one crow just north of that in the little cubby.
ive got him 3 times now lol for me and my friends.
easy to camp,no one is usually after it on my server.
spawn times for me was about an hour to 3 hours.
and the wand is just to nice until lvl 51 ^^

The NM spawned in I-5 after about 2 hours of killing birds in H-5, I-5, H-6, and I-6.

Heres the deal
im camping this thing with thf/rng on my main character. its for my new character (taru mage).
so i see the mob on my wide scan and log out. Its Oct 20 and there is emergency server maintenence after the update so i cant log back in....sigh
maybe next time

my main job has wide scan so thats how i wanted to camp the mob; my second character who could actually use the item is a low lvl mage. i would have wide scanned around till seeing the mob. log out then log on to my other character. no one was even in the zone to steal the mob from me cause of the update. I was studing for a test so just wanted to wide scan every now and then; didnt want to activly walk around and look.
anyways...
today (Oct 22) im walking the taru whm lvl 16 around. i have half health and mp. I know at least one other person is camping the mob. I see it and claim it. Equips suck cause i didnt expect to fight anything tough. Club that has like 6 dmg. Divine seal Cure II keeps me alive. fight takes like 5 min or so. Take like 5 hell dives. cure here and there. a lot of WS later it dies and i get the drop.

If you're camping with both your charectors logged in at the same time and in the same party, then ignore this comment.

I ran into it as a WAR9/WHM5 exping in the area. I killed every crow in the area about twice before it popped. It popped in H-5 in the small clearing between the rocks and the wall. I dented about half of it's health.
Came back two hours later (WHM29/BLM14), and stayed for three hours. I killed every crow, either alone or in friendly competition with a BLM32/WHM16 (I believe that was his sub). We killed every crow that popped in H-5, as well as the edges of H-6 and I-5, and as far as either of us could tell, it did not pop once. No one else was in the area to take it if it did.
Is it possible that he pops once every 24 hours?

Just got it after camping for 20 Min. Spawned by palms in N corner.
spawned at I-5 signpost for me after about 90mins of killing them

popped at lone palm at H-5 around 12:45 am easter... so happy I got it! 3 hours of placeholder killing... was about to give up too.. XD
I was hunting this for 2 hours, and then some guy comes along to hunt it as well. I say "hey man, i've been here 2 hours, can you just let me have it" he replies "it's fair game". So then 30 minutes later he gets the damn bird. ; ;
His response "it's at H-5 fyi, so you don't spend hours looking next time"

Oh, what do you know, it just happened again. I kill all the place holders, and another prick comes along to kill the bird that I popped. At least now I know how to pop him. Maybe I'll log on at some odd time so I can pop him in peace, w/o people to steal him damnit.
***** it, I popped it a 3rd time,and another passerby stole it. I quit. This would have been nice, but I just can't help the theives taking the bird I pop.

dude you are sad... a monster isnt your just because you huntied it for a few hours... Ive Camped Argus for 12 hours straight then a guy came and got claim... just got to try harder next time

Got there with no other campers and somepage says its a 50-60min spawn so i didn't expect to be there for very long. But no it turns out this nm can take 4hrs to spawn and in the end it pops after 3hrs.... but some JP mnk that just got here who idk if he was camping or walking pass kills it.
I'm so pissed i log off for the rest of the day and maybe i will try to camp this nm again ;;

Friday night I was getting a little upset. I spent all 5 hours watching Sin City while killing Crows (placeholders and I needed feathers anyway) Bees (they still con EP so XP, honey and beehive chips) and Crawlers (EP and silk thread)
All that time no drop. There was someone in the area hunting Tim Tom Tat so I thought maybe he was trying to clear out all the NM in the area. A few dozen other people in the area as well, so I was thinking maybe I cleared the placeholder and someone else got the drop on me (literally)
I gave up sulking, but happy with my 80k worth of farmed materials.
This morning I woke up, did 3 laps around the circuit of H-5 to the Outpost to I-6 to H-6 and repeat.
I saw a bird, with a long name and kaplow. There is my NM.
Since I hadn't seen anyone in the area I took my time to summon Carby. I cast dia on the bird and away the fight went.
She hit me with Helldive a few times, but with Carby tanking, Poison Nails, a few Rock Crushers and one more Dia she went down. Took me down to Red Once but a quick cure fixed that.
Would have been easier if I could have summoned my NPC ally.
And for the Record:
