Just did it Mithra WAR/NIN 33/16, about 3 mins, I was lucky : the dragon petrified me then my NPC gave the last shot to kill it. No potion, no regen, no food, a suicidal challenge.
I Mighty Strike (2H), as the dragon rips my shadows off and quicker and quicker I believe an other sub can do the job.

did this capped 40drg/20war and it hit me for a total of bout 85 dmg, this guys a joke, only annoying thing is his petro eyes wich he hit me with right before mi wyvern used flame breath so i hat to sit outside the hut for 5 mins for petrify to wear off

did this fight as 32whm/blu had no problems at all got lucky with petify though got my npc with it instead of me otherwise way too easy battle...

1st time i lost because i was petridied and NPC provoked and died so get some resist petrify food and u should be good. .. . .This fights rather easy but just try and use some resist pertify food it can save your NPC from dying anyways yeah i raped him with thf/nin 350satav :)
I did this today as BST/WHM and wasn't thinking because I was in such a hurry to get this done. Had no clue it was capped at 40. So there I am sitting there in the fight naked with no gear at level 40. Luckily I had a warp cudgel and a pair of battle gloves that somehow I still had in inventory. Courier Carrier Tanked the whole fight. I wouldn't be surprised if any melee job could do this naked with a decent weapon.

Second time, I was mad and went in better prepared. Learned my lesson and stayed behind the dragon as much as possible. I used Bind and stayed to the sides or behind so if he petrified anyone, it'd be the NPC. The NPC showed up after about a minute, then kept it voked off me while I buffed up again. Slept the dragon when Stoneskin went down, Converted and Cured while he was still snoozing, and nuked it into next week. :)

I just solo-ed this as level 40 WHM / 20 SMN. I decided to sub SMN for the extra MP and Leviathan's bloodpact. I had on Holy Breastplate, and mostly Seer's Gear for extra MP, and also took some potions, ethers, and a Yag drink. Levy kept hate most of the time, I used his Water II and it hit twice for 70-ish each time. He survived the fight with a sliver of life at the end. NPC appeared around 70% of dragon's HP, but got hit by Petro Eyes. My HP and MP didn't do too bad, and the NM was only hitting me for about 30 each time.
This guy is seriously easy although I do have good gear.
I read the posts and was not concerned at all but did come appropriatley equipped as I had died earlier to a hastily fought battle with the NM skeleton (well, actually the Gazer that aggro'd halfway through). So, I was not about to be caught off-guard with this guy no matter how easy he sounded.
Emp. Pin, Winged Boots, Noct+1 gear, +1 sushi, and a bunch of medicine (echo, antidote, hi-pots, and W/E else). I entered and put up /NIN shadows, then used a Shinobi to see if I could sneak around behind him and SA him. He came at me but didn't seem to turn while he swung at me with his tail so I got it off anyhow. Immediately he was down to 77% health. At about 66% NPC entered the fray. At the end, 3:21 seconds later, the dragon was dead and I was hit only once for 12 dmg. The dragon used 'wind breath', must have been his dying breath and then he was done. I ended with 98% of my health and never recast utsusemi:ichi or used any of my medications. I did get off a second SA though due to him never moving, he swung at me when I was behind him with his tail and never even turned when the NPC voked him from beside.

was doing the holy crest quest as 64rdm/nin to try beat time record and used 2hr and was just off the record. then i decided to do mirror, mirror with a passerby as i clicked door but i got sent into bcnm alone... 40rdm/nin, with full field gear, no ninjutsu tools and no weapons. so i just stood around for about 10mins, sizing up dragon and my available spells up. buffed up, DoT and kited until npc came. kited some more until i realised npc was doing nothing so engaged and started h2h, npc voked and i rested. taru war taking some beating so i heal him and nuked. in the end it was quite easy but 14:27... (should have started earlier :P) anyway this thing has low resist on everything and i would soloable at any 30 melee, possibly 25 if you have shadows.

lol I decided to randomly get my npc since i was bored, had nothing to do, and had neglected to do so far, lol and I was simply amazed by how easy this was. My monk friend and i were doing the quest together, but we were under the impression that you had to solo the way through. So when the time came we each took on the nm skeleton and this guy by our selves. lol We didn't know it was a capped fight, he was 55 mnk and me a 50 drg. Thankfully the mnk went in first and found out it was a cap. No big deal since monk specialize in H2H weapons anyway =p lol so while he was fighting I ran back to Sand'Oria, grabbed my behound lance, then ran back and fought carrion dragon. Two words ^.^ Cake walk! I wasn't even in full armor and with berserk this guy was hitting me for like 36. Got it down to half hp and my npc jumped in to join the fray. Her voke didn't even get hate off me =p After a little more pwnage, I wrapped things up with a Double Thrust, and Azure tok it out with Flame Breath. I beat the server Record for Cerberus with a time of 2 minute and 11 seconds. You may think Dragon Killer is useless, but I certainly slaughtered it this time!

well i was doin my mirror, mirror quest, and my ls friend forgot to tell me that is was a lvl 40 cap, so i had rdm af sword fencing degen on, so i fought the dragon barre handed with my npc, it was a piece of cake, with stoneskin and regen for my rdm, he didnt even do damage, just had to pl my npc.

i solod this 40drk/ 20 war i was a little disapointed i heard he was a little tuff but he only took away 200 hp. match was 2 min 59 sec about 30 sec away form record. on Ifrit

Pretty easy if you ask me. Went in capped as WHM/BLM and had no problems.
Only thing to watch for is Petrification X.X Lucky my NPC attacked then XD

31 WAR/NIN. Pwned. I think he got me in the yellow towards the end of the fight after I'd pulled hate off my NPC when she spawned. No potions, no regen drinks; just two hand axes and utsusemi. Ridiculously easy.
Soloed as a 29mnk/14war Focus, Dodge, Hunderd Fists. npc came and voked of me while I wailed on it. I even forgot to eat some food lol.

I'm going to try again, and hopefully it's as easy this time as it is for everyone else.

Went with an LS member to Duo this after the Skeleton. He was a 50+ WAR so he'd be capped at 40 and I was a 35THF/17WAR with the following:

HP=603....Popped a Meat Mithkabob, Sneak Attack and went in. Had to solo since WAR had already done the Quest(if you want get a few buddies that all need it to Party and face it). Ran to the back but missed the SA when he turned, fired a arrow with a miss and kept to his rear. Second Arrow shot scored a Poison so I stayed with Melee. Before I knew it, he was at half health and NPC jumped in. NPC voked and I popped SA, got the crit and fired another arrow with a poison scoring. Dragon dead in about 5min roughly. Dunno if I got the record but I know the previous was a 3 man PT at 2min. After checking my HP I was at 524. Knowing my usual luck this guy was probaly the easiest NM I fought since Burnie.

I think a 30THF with food and decent gear can solo him. Just stay to the rear, Use Ranged Attack with either Bloody Bolts or some type of Enfeebling Ammo (Always my fav whe solo)and pop SA each time. When the NPC jumps in let her voke and SA off of her/him and you should do fine.

lol i was a 33WAR/16WHM and i soloed it easily
i eat a rice dumpling and used defender at the beggining and cast cure2 once on me and once on my NPC. the dragon's strength is over-rated

now this was easy! level 40bst/20nin popped a antlion familiar, buffed up (was clearly not needed) done about 100dmg to my pet 0 on me, broke the record at 2mins 28secs on Irifit.
Solo'd this as a 37 WAR/MNK. I had full 710 HP and when the fight was finished, I was down to 565. Decked out in full Cent. gear with +STR rings and a Meat Mithkabob. I was just about to Sturmwind him when my NPC showed up, and after the cutscene, Sturmwind owned him flat from his half HP point.
Had a 33 RDM friend solo this. He intially had trouble at first, but in the end he kited it while his NPC took the blunt of the damage. Same with a 55 WHM who had no armor or weapons and had to borrow my Warp Curgal as a weapon. Same style as the RDM, kited it while his NPC took hate and healed her while she tanked it.
Although you can be practically naked to fight this, be sure to have the most basic armor and a good weapon for your level available, otherwise it will be a risky fight.
Also, to fight this as a 3 group party, every single member has to be on the exact same part of the quest, otherwise you won't be able to get in. Players who also have done the quest are not allowed in, but it is soloable at least at level 30.

I had a few failier's on this dragon but in the end, the dragon was dead! I was a war 29 aswell ^^
Does anyone know if a RDM40/DRK20 can solo this thing.. i mean RDM has stoneskin, phalnk and blink which should last for quite awhile.. but we also have resist petrify trait.. from what ive seen so far all ppl use is NIN, WAR, WHM, DRG, DRK or THF... so could a RDM solo it???

Tarutaru BLM42/WHM21. After the skeleton fight I thought this would be a real challenge. The skeleton really made me fight and I almost thought that I had to 2hr.
Well nervously I stepped in the dragon fight waiting for hell. I even forgot to heal full MP so I really paniced at the start. I casted 2 spells and my NPC buddy pops in to help. Then 2-3 spells more and it's dead. I even broke a record set by a party of 2 members! 1 Minute 08 seconds.
So to anyone who had a hard time with the skeleton.. Don't worry, be happy! Just kill the damn thing.

Wow, that dragon was a joke. I went in as a SMN/WHM and was worried because I forgot to make Yag Drinks so I could treat it like the level 20 battles, but now know there was absolutely no reason to care.
I went in and used a Tail Slap which immediatly brought the NPC out and then a minute later I used Astral Flow nad Tidal Wave and it was beyond over (yay overkill).
I actually wish they would have made it harder, but I suppose they had to keep it simple since they didn't want the NPC to outright die when he comes in and tanks it.

Before I got a chance to fight this thing, I read up on some people's replies to the fight. Yours caught my eye since I was thinking SMN...
However, when I was thinking about treating it like a 20 mini fight... I realized the outpost is a tiny arena and you would have to get lucky not to get interupted since there is no distance between where you can fight him and where you can retreat.
It's good that a simple blood pact and a 2hr rape the thing, but otherwise I wouldn't have tried it with SMN.
