Drop Rate

On June 6, 2007 I went out and farmed these things. Kept a running count of how many I killed.

I was a 28 Whm/ 14 Blm in North Gustaberg on Zegham Hill. (No Treasure Hunter.)

Days: Watersday, Windsday, and Iceday
Moon: First Quarter moon (55%)

Bees killed: 112

Honey: 18 (18/112= 16.07%)
Beehive Chips: 25 (25/112= 22.32%)
Insect Wings: 7 (7/112= 6.25%)
Giant Stinger: 1 (1/112= 0.8926%)
I was to high for wind crystals to drop.

I was also on Lakshmi world, if it matters at all.

Edit:
The next day (June 7) I farmed them on Vomp hill in South Gustaberg. Again, 28 Whm/ 14 Blm. (No Treasure Hunter.)

Days: Earthsday, Watersday, Windsday, Iceday
Moon Waxing Gibbous (88%)- Full Moon (90%)

Bees killed: 154

Honey: 20 (20/154= 12.99%)
Beehive Chips: 31 (31/154= 20.13%)
Insect Wings: 14 (14/154= 9.091%)
Giant Stinger: 1 (1/154= 0.6494%)
I was to high for wind crystals to drop.

I don't why the drop rates are different, but they are similar. Choose for yourself if its significant or not.

As others have mentioned, some times I killed 10 and got nothing, and other times I killed 5 and wound up with 4 chips and 3 honeys. This might explain some of the differences (I might have been in a dry spell when I stopped in South Gustaberg or in a good spell in North Gustaberg.).

I think it is important to mention that I killed on all levels of both hills, moving up and down when I had cleared one area. I also used weapon skills when my TP got high enough, but did this equally (some say that effects your drop rate).

I hope this helps.

Indeed the beehive chips roll in. Just got THF to 15 and went up Vomp Hill to kill worms for the zinc and bees for chips. In about 30-45min I had 6 zincs and 2 stacks of chips. Not to mention all the flint stones, earth and wind crystals. Started killing gobs for the fire crystals and wild onions too. Next time I gotta strip naked so I can carry all that loot - to the bank. Nice!

I've been farming these since lvl 35.. I must have killed well over 2 thousand of these. These have about.. I would say.. 40-60% drop rate. Although i've had days where they havent dropped anything at all. These are my main source of income for now.. until i'm a higher level and can farm different things.

Maneating Hornets drop Honey whenever you farm them on Zegham Hill.
