There are two spawns in Korroloka near the W Altepa exit, level spread is 33-37 I believe.
I was able to take these scorps down as a level 32 BST/WHM, they need around 2-3 DC leech pets each. No drops from the three I killed.
Warning - do not engage these directly. Death Scissors hit one of my pets for 392 damage.

so i was fighting this thing right, then my crab died so i call a tiger fam, death scissors 585 fam dead, run away! eventually won but man did it hurt
I just got the key from it. It doesn't drop as often as it does from Copper, Old and Brass Quadavs, but it does drop from the Scorpion.

Have to agree with previous poster about drop & location, 4 kills @ G-8 have netted me 3 claws while 11 kills @ J-6 have led to 7 shells and a plantreaper. ( I also had an extra claw in my inventory after 1 session that I think came from a J-6 kill but I'm not certain.) Also of interest (or not) of the 7 or 8 plantreapers I've picked up in the mines, only 1 has come from this type of scorpion. --note-- these drops were complied from several mine trips over several months; no more than 3 scimitar scorpions were killed in any one session.
From past experiences this scorpion seems to be about five times as likely (though still exceedingly rare) to drop the key as the weaker mine scorpion though I didn't track numbers to back that up. I'm just basing that on having received 1 key from each type and a very rough estimate of scorpions killed.

for me the one at J-6 drops shell almost every time and the one at G-8 drops claw almost every time

..... SOB mob! lvl 19 - 37 this sob whooped my *** while i was camping Scorpions in the Palborough Mines but ill get it back.......
i was looking to farm these in palbouragh or w/e and i wanted to kno if the low lvl ones drop the high quality scorp shells.

Grr... just ran into this guy in Korroloka. EP, so I decided to try it. Well, it's going great, im winning by a good margin. Suddenly: Scimitar Scorpion uses Death Scissors. Nimblin takes 330 points of damage. Well, I had around 300 hp left, do the math. And I was 1-2 hits away from killing it. >_<

I spent about 3 hours camping and killing the scorpions in G-8 from about 3am EST to 6am EST when there were few people in the entire mine system. I recieved Scorpion Claws, Tails and Shells as well as one Plantreaper which I sold for 2k in Sandy as I am a lvl 38DRK with no use for this weapon. A ver profitable mob. Another can be found at J-6 = )

J-6 is also a spawn point for a Treasure Chest. I should know, it was sitting there in the background while I fought the scorpion.

I was recently wandering Palborough looking for the Dark Knight flag quest, and I came across this mob. Being lvl30 at the time, I decided to kill it for fun. It dropped a scorpion claw and the Palborough Chest Key. Not bad for my first Scorpion kill!

Ive been up in Pal mines all week getting darksteel engravings and doing Garrisons. The pal mines chest key drops off this mob sometimes, but I've yet to get a Darksteel Engraving off of it. This one is a little bigger than the Mine Scorpions that spawn here too. I can't get a drop percentage, but I've killed three Scimitar Scorpions and only got the drop once. Ive killed two Mine Scorpions with no luck. All this I've done Solo at lvl 21 war/whm. So the ones in Pal mines must not be as tough as the ones in Korroloka Tunnel.

I soloed the Scimitar Scorpian at lvl 26 or around in there... it was Pretty easy didn't have to use my 2 hr.

I'm thinking this thing is an NM, its only ever spawned in one place in Palborough mines from what I can tell, but I could be wrong.
No, just sometimes on that one particular spot in the Palborough mines, he spawns instead of the Mine scorp. Only real difference I know of is that this one is nastier and presumably has a better drop rate since it's a higher level.

I was exploring in Korroloka Tunnel, scouting for the ??? for ninja out of boredom when I came accross this one. It conned as EP @43drk but I didn't feel like getting into a battle so I waited till it walked a bit and I tried to run behind it but it aggro'd. Got it to 1/2 when it used "Death Scissors," an appropriately named ability, did 287 dmg to me. I tried to stun but it was too fast. Ended up killing it with the help of 2hr. Only dropped scorpion claw/shell.
This is a random spawn because either the mine scorpion will appear or the scimitar scorpion if you are camping scorpion the spawn time is 3hours and 15 sec Van'Diel time. I also need somebody to verifiy the spawn time is correct.The location for the scorpions in pal mines is G-8 only!

I fought this guy the other day, didn't drop anything though. I got Scythes off the Mine Scorpions though.
dont the quadav drop the pal key as well?(and where is the chest at?never seen it,aslo what can it contain)
I have pictures of both the mine scorpion and scimitar scorpion please let me know how to post the pictures

I pulled 1 and one beside it cam running too, but I was able to kill them so no problem.....
Perhaps the other one just aggroed? Unless it conned as TW when you pulled it.

ive seen this thing once i was doin my fetch quest at lvl 8 and all a sudden i see a dude come runnin around a cornor with this huge monster chasen him lol it was kinda funny i ran outa the way and kept yelling for my ls buddies i thought i was gonna die if it turned on me lol
