Well, hate to ruin your fun but my best guess is that they do it because by nullifying their exterior senses they reach out to the elements to guide them, like Luke Skywalker placing the blast shield over his eyes to establish a connection with the force.
probably the easiest of the tier two orcs... when working on the kazham keys, look in the huts just past the yughott grotto exit for these bad boys. sometimes, they're grouped with a PLD-type tier two, but when they spawn in the huts, not usually. either way, put on some INT and MND + gear, and give a few of these a good stomping to get a kaz key fairly easily. definitely not as HP consuming as fighting orc fighters or serjeants. also, as far as normal, non-NM type mobs, these drop fairly good gear for that level. sub your 15THF and whup on some to make fairly good gil.
just another reason, in my opinion, to get a PT of 6 and rampage through ghelsba. hardly anyone does it, but with the "gilfinder" ability, and a good mage or two with a few -ga spells, you can rack up the gil. not to mention some decent items.

I've killed three Cursemaker already, but no drop-not even a crystal. I'm doing the Vampire Quest. Before I start the day, I go in Junger and kill a Cursemaker. I'm lvl 22monk and use 2hr. But no drop
Why? cause it has 3 possible drops of lvl 20 items:
Black Slacks White Mitts Sandals
Also you can get a Ghelsba Chest Key which is used in the Kahzam quest and can also be used to open treasure chests in Ghelsba. In addition to that there is more then 1 of these things walking around so there is a little more room when it comes to other campers.
