I know it says the lvl req is 18, but I just got it for the first time and i'm a lvl 15 MNK....with a fame of 4, last i checked. I have yet to get the garlic, so I may need to be 18 before i can turn it in, but I hope not, cause that would be stupid...though I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be that way. :/

Didn't read most the posts, but this is a prereq for drain or aspir, can't remember which 1, but yea this is a prereq for 1 of those BLM spells. Drops from Orc Mesmerizers, Yhugot(flame me, i spelt it wrong) Grotto or Davio

This is not a prereq for drain or aspir. Maybe it is for some other quest but not for drain or aspir. Also, only Orcish Cursemakers drop this... not Mesmerizers. Must have been a while since u did these quests.
I think the DRG prerequisite idea is from the fact that it's in the Chateau. Like the DRG quest, I'm assuming you'd need rank 2 (sandy) or rank 2-3 (from the other nations) to get into the Chateau; you don't necessarily have to have done the DRG quest.

I've had this quest before I had done the drg job quest, so I do not think that is a requirement. Probably just fame.
Not sure if there is a fame requirement, but I know you don't have to do the DRG quest because I haven't and I got the quest before I had completed any advanced job quest.
man i love this quest, its simillat to the crawler culler quest in windurst.. wich give you 600 gil for 3 crawler culculses.. either way i like this one better cause while im fighting all the orcs to get a stack of the garlic(3600gil) i get about another 5k in gil from the orc drops,, and then about another 4k gil in otherdrops...wow that 12k in less than 2 hours

Hes still there and it still works. Are you lvl 18 at least? It may be sandy only too, but I dont know about that. Ive been doing it for quite awhile. You talk to him first to get the quest, then give garlic after that. Just like the bat wing quest.
i am having problems with this quest. i the guy wont take the garlic... i was told some of the questions were supposed to be deleted in the last update... was this one deleted and by mistake the npc is still there?
no the quest is still there and working did it 2 days ago. possibly your fame is not high enough?
You can get Bulbs of Shaman Garlic fron Any Orcish Cursemaker anywhere. You can Find Orcish Cursemakers in Yughott Grotto, Jugner Forest or Davoi.

I believe there to be some misinformation regarding the requirements for this quest.
Having done only ten or fewer San d'Orian quests as a Rank 4 Hume Bastok citizen, I was not able to trigger this quest.
After I did the rabbit hide quest 20 times, for a total quest number somewhere in the high 20s, I was able to get this quest.
I had not done the Vampire/Drain quest, so that is not a pre-req for this.

I got a Bulb of Shaman Garlic off a Cursemaker in Yugotto Grotto, that might be easier than Davoi.

Vampire hunter d is by far one of the best anime i've evr seen. Love the title, gonna go do the quest right now

to do this quest you have to do the drain scroll quests for the guy who everyone thinks is a vampire in the prison. You do need fame because you need fame to do the drain scroll one and then this branches off..yeah the titles cute, and the money isnt so bad either. and no you cant purchase it because its a ex.

this probably is a dumb question, but I'm rather new to the game. If you repeat a quest that has a title do you get that title or is that a one time deal?

Just an FYI
There are NPC's in the game who can change your title to any one that you've had in the past. My personal fav so far is "Silencer of the Lambs".

Yes, you get the title too, as far as I know (I kept getting the title from Save the Children)

If you get a title from a mission, and then re-do the mission you will get the title again, but that is for MISSIONS only. If you do a repeatable quest you will get the title the first time only.

Actually you do get the title again on quests also. I did this quest a few months ago but then I lost it when I did the Star Onion Brigade quest. But, since I'm a fan of the Vampire Hunter D anime, I redid this quest and am now again Vampire Hunter D-minus.

Yeah u get the title everytime u repeat the quest. Unfortunately i was given 'Mommy's Helper' in bastok when getting rid of my treant bulbs and sleepshrooms (for a repeatable quest) i built up in other areas and got funny looks when my pt for the palborough dragon /checked me.

You will get the title again if the current title is from a quest of lower fame rank.

Why wont he take my items? Im giving him 2 bulbs of Shaman garlic and nothing is happening, someone help me plz. Keeps on saying something vampires and crap.
I6 in N.SD is off the map in an unreachable location. Maloquedil can be found at J-8 standing under a tree.

i told to maloquedil and then i gave him 2 shaman garlic and nothing happened and my garlics came back in my bag ...
how its work? And i just saw that i dont have the quest why?

The above section says that there is no fame required, so it must be something else.
Sorry, but I'm having the same trouble level 30 war. Some fame must be required or else some other event is missing. I'm not "famous" yet, but the guy in the Lion Springs Inn "may have heard of [me]".
Edit: After doing three more quests (The Dismayed Customer, The Pickpocket, and Growing Flowers) I was finally able to get this quest. I was also able to get The Rumor. The guy in the Lion Springs Inn now says "Ah, Entara. That is a name I often hear. People speak well of you!"

i believe you have to have been in the dungeon of the chateau and talked with novalemuge or however u spell it but im not positive about that.

I'm having this same problem. I talk to Maloquedil and he mentions vampires, but doesn't give me the quest. What's the deal?

Have no clue what the title is about, you guys make reference to Anime which I know nothing about. can someone please enlighten me?
ohh.. and my 2 gil also.. the bulbs can be found on CurseMakers in Fort Ghelsba and Yughott Grotto too as far as I am aware of.

best title I've seen is 'Murder Suspect' from NOT COMPLETING but starting the second quest given by Shantoto in Windy Walls called 'And I would've done it too if it wasn't for you nosey Taru!'

No. They have "ex" or exclusive on them. The only way to get these is from killing cursemakers.

what u need is Shaman garlic, not bulb of sherman garlic, and u can also get it from cursemakers in yughott grotto.

This is the same guy who gives the bat wing quest right? How do you get him to give this quest? And i think its a Bulb of Shaman Garlic, not sherman garlic. I killed cursemakers in Fort Ghelba and they dropped one. Any help, or info would be much appreciated. :)
