I just wanted to bring up a few things, from my experience doing this (and other PLD AF). I ended up soloing 5/6 pieces of my PLD af (this is my 7th set of AF, so I have a lot of exp doing this kind of thing), and from my experience, TRH2+ doesnt seem to help all that much. Moonphase DOES seem to help a lot (full moon), but in my experience, THE best way to get a drop... is to do it alone - solo it. In the past, I have probably been in 30+ skill up parties, mass killign coffer mobs in various areas, and sometimes would go for 10+ hours and not one key would drop, but when I go and solo coffer mobs, I almost always get a key (for ANY area) within 1-2 hours, playign as RDM/Anything. Now, I KNOW not everyone can solo coffer mobs, but... if you are going to try to get these, it seems as though fewer people is better - so go with as few as you're comfortable with. I'm sure I"m gonna get TONS of haters, completely disgareeing with this, but before knockign it, try it. IN this particular area (beadeaux) I got my key after 10-15 kills, while a party with three 75 thieves claimed to have been there already 6+ hours, and not a single drop. I had a VERY similar experience with both garliage citadel and eldieme necropolis recently also. Anyway, speaking of those two areas, if you're soloing, Beadeaux's coffer is much MUCH easier to get alone - getting behind the banishing gates or behind the doors in eldieme are EXTREMELY tough alone, and you have to have the patience of a saint to do so - compared to those two, this was total cake!
well... got skill up party, they all were killing, pld testie drops, i get it 2nd drops the 75pld gets, then key drops when we down at like m4 or something, theres 4 rooms around us
Well.... i ask for sneak and wander off looking, go to where the guy says (jp btw so confusing) and i zone, so i sneak back somehow, there fighting so i help em as best i can, and ask for sneak again
Wander back west to go by the curse thing, go down hill past other one, by the 1st tunnel down continue forward, get o the room b4 'the mute' and there it is, 4 mobs around it...
they all wander off so i rush in open it, get my pants, but... now the prob, no sneak and here come the friendly quadavs, im on wall now hiding, there walking around for alil, im like saying help in party scrambling didnt equip crudgel, >< shoulda i know, and then 1 aggros, linking others hitting me down o 400s, i hit invcinbal, the one casts thunder 3, im down to 28, cure 4 after equiping crudgel, 1st crudgels i equiped has 23hours till o.o;; , then i heal up thing o **** imma die!! invincibal wears, by then the blm has me poision 2d, bio 2d, so im loosing hp quick praying that i warp, i began using crudgel, somehow i make it to aht urgan whitegate, 38 hp slowly dying as it load, >< get loaded hit cure 4 quick, and...
I LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yay me, pants in inventory, need lvl now ; ; o well...

yea....or ya know...u have really good luck..
Was in a coffer key/skill up party all day today. We were tearing through the Quadavs no problem, but even with treasure hunter 2 the keys just don't drop. I finally got mine after about 6 hours (6 hours for 2 keys). I lost a race to the coffer by about a second, so I went afk to wait for it to respawn. For some reason it didn't seem to appear for about 2 hours (maybe somebody else was claiming them before I saw). Finally when my sneak oils ran out I saw the coffer guarded by 1 Quadav. I said ***** it and charged the coffer. The Quadav own3d me, but thanks to my nifty insta-warp I managed to HP in Jeuno as a dead body, where I shortly got a raise 3.

maybe im just lucky but i did not have too much trouble w/ this coffer.
went down to beudeuax(sp?) spent a few hours killing with my ls, which was kinda fun. got the second key that dropped and a pld testimony, coffer pooped a few yards away, poped it grabbed my Af and went home ^^

Got a nice story ^^ ..... got a good chunk of time set out... set up a pt... went for 3 and a half hours in beadeux... key dropped... and accidentally passed on it >.< ....next day (today) had set up a time fame (again) and got my pt together.... but when i went to login there was a lovely update hehe "Network is busy" blah blah blah blah..... finally got on and had to log right back off lol. So later on I got on and got a 59 drk 70 pld 60 brd 61 rdm and 73 whm and got the key drop (suprisingly after the same amount of time)
Still feel stupid about passing on the key >.<

13+ fuggin' hours for this key, but it's finally over. After four pick-up parties, and two nights of non-stop slaughter with my LS, I finally walk out with my breeches.
Still haven't suffered a single death(on my part, at least ^^;) during my AF hunt. Five down, one to go.

This was the best Coffer for me.. I had a bad experience with Eldieme Necropolis, as mentioned. And Garliage Citadel, people died constantly =/ (Except me, I lived /joy)
Anywho, I start this Coffer key hunt, get there, 3 hours later, we find all the keys we need, I decided to log for a while inside Beadeaux. Log back on and theres another Skill Up PT just arrived, I stuck around and saw 'Treasure Coffer' in an empty room, they've just killed all the mobs in there and moved onto another room, it popped as they were pulling the last one, so I pop it, sneak up and run away!

if you are alone, u can always carry a warping item, pop the coffer, use invincible and warp out. so yeah u can live though it, unless there uber strong mob mages in there, and i doubt they'll stop your casting.
first time i went i was around level 50 ...i wanted to get done with all this stuff quick lol. we were there for a long time, a couple of hours. i got a PLD testimony too instead oh well.
Last night i went back, level 58 (if i died i would have deleveled) we we're there for about 10 mins then a friend and his pt came, got 2 keys in 5 mins. then i found the coffer just after.
Got my *** kicked, had 82HP left...but i lived! so hmmm yeah, this coffer sucks, i heard no one really live thru it either unless someone pulls the mobs away, now i understand why! ^^;

Artifact armor is just wat it sounds like. why must people complain that they have to do such and such for X amount of time. if u dont want to put the sweat into the work to gt something. then dont. get the stock armors off the Auction houses. if Square/Enix just handed the things to you wat would be the point? really if u are going to gripe that your are "going to quit" because of a little effort on yuor part then please save yuor breath. quit the game. and go try Candyland or Chutes and LAdders.. if u could get everything in a week. handed to you. wat would be the point of playing? am i being harsh? yes maybe. but i have put my work in and i enjoy the things i have worked for. somtimes things are hard to get. so be it. my PLD AF gloves took hour and a half. boots 30 minutes. etc. yes both could potentially take days. but it would not have stoped me. thre are plenty of things i have tried to get for substantial amounts of time. and here i am still goin after em. but please.. if getina coffer key.. killin a NM. geting some drop twist your ***** so bad u want to quit. go for it. save the server bandwidth for someone who is goin to try to do the work and enjoy the things they work for.

wow i just wanna comment on the guys saying how artifact armor is supposed 2b hard and 2not complain about it, i just wanna make sure about something, this is still a game right? and the point of game like this is 2have FUN now my idea of fun is not spending 10+ hours "hunting" a key, i mean honestly, it should b challenging, but when a 75thf with Thief Knife and Relic hands (Treasure Hunter +4) and an alliance of ppl are tearing through these quads for 4hrs plus with only ONE i repeat for all those out there ONE key dropping, and like one million different job testimonies, that does not = fun for me, im sorry, so i believe i have earned the right to complain ALL I WANT thank u, goodnight

I finaly was able to do this last night, but it cost me 80k. On sylph, ther are so many horror storries of six hours without a key i finaly just had to pay some high lvls to do it, flat rate, regradless the time limit. Five 1/2 hours later i was glad i had. And btw, NO TH2 dosnt seem to matter, we killed for an hour without a thf, then a 70thf came and helped. IT still took over four more hours of masskilling the bastards. This is hands down unmistakably the hardest coffer to get, so u could say, pld and whm have some of the hardest af in the game. Now alota poepl got on here saying 'dont ***** bla bla whine whine' wat are u doing? your just ******** about thier ********* Its a fact that htis is the hardest key to get, and garliage is prroably 2nd, PLD gets both. Partly the reason they are so hard is that everyone else gets keys wher epeople lvl, but if other servers are ANYWHERE like sylph, no one wants anything to do with this place.
I went in to Bedeaux with my static and my personal favorite THF, Toushi. The whm died... which isn't unusual... before we even got to the higher lvl Quadav. I think he got iced by an EP while we were fighting a VT (this was at lv58). When all was good again, we went inside, and after arriving to the camp I see a shout on my screen: "Anyone need a coffer key?" A couple of high lvls were working on their weapon skills (possibly WHM testimony, too) and got the key. I dropped from my pt, joined theirs and they gave me the key. After that, first room we checked the RNG found the coffer. It was just a matter of killing the three or four Quads guarding the coffer and then we were off to Garlaige for a RDM coffer.

I mean, what were SE thinking when they designed the game for drop rates for these keys?! DO they really think people would love the fact, they have to beg and moan to anyone thy know and some they dont know to get help for the keys? When can players actually walk around exploring new places without fearing about death and deleveling? After 4 hours finally got party for coffer key started and boom, whole server goes down. I have to say this game sucks, if I wasnt so addicted to it and came so far in it, I wouldnt even bother playing it.

Okay, I went back to Beadeaux with a Lv70 PLD as tank, and also a Lv67 THF with Treasure Hunter II.
My previous key hunting only had Treasure Hunter I (THF subbed) and in 6 hours we didn't even get 1 key.
Now with Treasure Hunter II we got 3 keys in 45 minutes.
This shows just how much of a difference it makes having a THF in the party when looking for keys.
After that I went back to sub WHM then returned to Beadeaux to start looking for my coffer.
I checked all the spawn points and the chest was in none of them so I decided to camp by the 4-way split (where there are 2 crawlers) and regularly check on the 4 rooms there.
A PLD just walks in and checks a room and to my disgust the chest spawns as soon as he enters the room so he opens it and warps out.
I was really angry because he just turned up and got it right away, and he couldn't even wear the Breeches...
So I wait and 30 minutes have gone by without any sign of other campers.
Then all of a sudden I see a Lv58 BST walk past so I quickly apply Sneak and rush into a random room. To my delight the chest is there waiting for me. =D
I open it and then get aggro from the 3 Quadavs in the room.
I use Invincible a little late (I had already lost ~300 HP) and 1 of the Quadavs was casting Aeroga III, I rush into my items and use the warp scroll.
Aeroga III hits me for 658 damage and I am left with 56 HP, thank GOD they only resulted in melee after that or I would have been dead.
Very hard coffer key and chest.
I would hate to have to do this again.

I am a 58 pld andi have been to beadeaux 3 times with lvl 60+ thf's everytime and i havent seen one key drop yet. Spent at least 3 hours there all 3 times so either im extremely unlucky or TH makes no difference.
All AF Quests are a pain in the *** and this is one of the worst. I spent 3 days in Beadeaux trying to get a coffer key...The only way I got it is when our 47 THF lost Sneak in front of an Ancient Quadav and got aggroed...We killed it and got the key...Talk about dumb luck. Anyways all Coffer Key Quests are a pain in the *** so please dont cry about spending so much time on them...The rewards are worth the pain and suffering.

Things like this make me really really consider quitting this game.
This quest is BS, it is WAY too hard.
Square-Enix should make all key drops much less rare.

Went back as PLD/WHM to get coffer. I do believe you need the AF gloves finished first before you can get this item. Quadav only detect by sounds so be sure to sneak up. As lv 54 I didnt start getting EPs till I got to the path to get back to the tunnel taking you down to where coffers pop.
I found coffer in about 5 min once i got down there.
Note: Sneak will wear off once you open coffer. I used invinsible + warp scroll to get the hell out of there alive. Do it quick too becuase you will most likely be cursed and mobs will start smacking you up right away and HP is low >_>

I think that the Eldieme Necropolis coffer key is a lot easier to get than than the one in Beaudeux. Only took us about 2 hrs to get 2 keys there in Eldieme Necropolis. The coffer key in Beaudeux is a whole other story. We went with a party of 10 people. We had mostly 62-66 and me at 54. We easily chain killed quad with no down time at all. We had killed over 100 of them. I know this only because we still did get xp and I had reiceved over 1k xp with xp being about 5-15 xp per kill. We only got one key which 3 of us needed so we casted lots. I got luck and got it ^^ so I am now happy.
We also recieved a ton of warrior testimonies, 2 paladin test. , about 4 different scrolls, and 1 blm test. So if need any of these Good Luck ^^
