Can anyone tell me what item is traded to the npc in order to bag these tools? I just crafted about 24 bags to level goldsmithing and need to make room in my inventory ans such. Thank you in advance

For anyone interested in knowing what they are actually making with this synth. I believe it means "lightning conductor" or "lightning rod". Just thought I would let you know ;).

I accidentally crafted these after using the wrong crystal (trying to make silver arrowheads) at level 20.

Same here. Thought I was getting hq synths when hiraishin came up instead of silver arrowheads... then i clued in after 3 synths, haha.

Wth? Fairy server has this stuff on the AH for 4k/stk! It costs me like twice as much to make it. Too many goldsmithers leveling on this item or something.
The price of many items (certainly the NIN tools) is controlled by those who get High Quality synths. There is a general pattern for NIN tools that you get 33 for a basic synthesis, 66 from a HQ, and 99 from a HQ2. So if it costs you x2 your sale price it would be break even for a HQ crafter and profit for a HQ2 crafter.
As a side note many items have prices not determined by their crafting cost because they are frequently dropped (ie armors), sold at shops, or are quest reward items (go check Kite Shields in San'Doria, lil' cheap? You get one from the PLD quest).

a stack of these sells for 30k on my server ... at 3 silver ingots (6k, 4k if i make em) and 3 copper ingots (less than 1k if i make em) thats a profit of about 25k a stack! /drool

The powder is needed in a ninja's inventory in order to cast the ninjutsu Raiton (Ichi at level 15 and Ni at level 40)... which deals lightning damage to an enemy and lowers its resistance against earth.
